    Great comfortable vehicle Bruce, many people are either envious or jealous. Keep the wheels turning and the smiles coming. Safe travels.

      Every car needs care and maintenance and nowadays a good scan tool and ideally a PC with mapping software (for the Landies) when travelling remotely. Some essential spares and a Sat phone are also a must

    I really appreciate the comment about your parents Morris minor traveller. I have unsubscribed to a lot of 4wd channels because they purchase everything for their vehicles turning the rough and tumble and joy of adventure into a commodity, but then again I always preferred cycle touring, carrying all I needed on the bike. I did sometimes put the bike into the back of my series III but liked to push my mind and body to the limit. Now I am 60 and want a bit of comfort, so I am going to get a Royal enfield himalaya, as I can't justify spending tens of thousands on any vehicle, as much as I love Land rovers, and I can still carry all my gear but get up those steep slopes.
    Thank you for your common sense approach.

    • @OverlandingwithBruce
      @OverlandingwithBruce  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a pleasure. The main reason for my comment is to show people that you can go out there with the basics and that they don’t need all the fancy gear in order to have a great trip. Unfortunately some people are lead to believe a lot is needed when it’s not.
      Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Hi Bruce. I'm an Aussie who drives a 2008 110 Defender. It's been driven in every state and territory in Australia on all sorts of roads and tracks. I've just ordered a D300 110 so your views are of great interest to me. The old girl (Defender that is) will probably be kept.
    My seat covers are Melville and Moon and are just now wearing out after 14 years and the front seat base only.

      Hi Mahn. You are going to love it. There is less packing space admittedly but every thing else is better.
      I hope to travel Australia one day. I have family there.
      In two weeks I am doing a big trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana. It is going to be a big test for the New Defender. I will be attempting another video after the trip so please watch out for that.
      All the best with your purchase and thank you for watching and commenting.

    Absolute awesome vehicle👍 I drive a Heritage 2016 Defender and my wife drives the new 110 Defender. Let’s face it, any of the bakkies in the SA market are good enough for over landing. We prefer the Front Runner roof rack to the LR OEM roof rack.

    Awesome Bruce! Sure it’s going to bring you many kilometres of happiness. I’ve only done a handful of Southern Africa trips, all with defenders, then a I did 6000km through Namibia with a disco 4 se, enjoyed it so much, sold the defender and got a disco. Fitted Tuffant 18 inch steel rims. And I see they do a 18inch alloy for the new defender as well. Cheers mate.

I have seen that G4 have a lot of experience working on the new Defender, agree with you they are great. My brother is very happy with his BF’s on his new Defender, they also look amazing. I understand that Ross has made some modification to the back of their Landys to carry 2 jerries, for their trip up through Africa to Wales. @@OverlandingwithBruce you have got he best of both worlds. The luxury of the new modern defender is the positive in getting to the destination before requiring the 4x4 capabilities. The downside i think is the limited space for trips vs, old defender 110 and 130 (especially yours). When you do go on you solo trips, I am sure you are going to want to go in the 130 😎….
