Tbh as someone who switches between different glass and cloth pads I could say the same for my Hien or any of the pads I own, Hien is just my favourite from Artisan specifically. Don't feel like my performance is hindered by any surface unless you force me to use some cheap mousepad that gets dead spots in less than 4 weeks.
@pinguefied Yeah like it's not exactly an Otsu I know people say it's like in between Zero and Otsu. It's essentially another balanced Artisan pad but I know I don't really want something slower than the Hien anyway and I like the X/Y speed difference. Your video editing style is so beautiful to watch I love your cinematic scripting and soundtrack choice 😭I feel like im watching an actual movie. My Key83 is shipping out soon, this has me so much more excited !!
After using the hayate otsu for a year then trying a skypad 4.0 for 2 weeks I realised I liked faster speed but the 4.0 was too fast and I couldn’t stop, been using the raiden soft for 3 weeks and fell in love perfect balance between fast and stopping for me!
This is wild timing for it to come out today. I just bough an azeron and while im waiting for it, im figuring out my mouse situation ( coming from a g604 and MTG mat for fps games LMFAO). I was thinking about going with a type 99, zero, and a glass pad and just seeing what I like. Maybe in a few years Ill change to the direction I prefer. Is this video anti glass sentiment?
no i still love glass! it felt limiting for a few aspects of aim but that only happened after 3 years of maining glass haha i would recommend it if you are interested in the infinite durability, but otherwise the zero soft is a bit safer
Hey, Pingu. I see you tried Kanami Sai glasspad. It's my main now. I'm still waiting for my Beast preorder. Can you kindly compare them? In terms of speed, control, surface?
my very brief thoughts from extremely insufficient testing (about 5 minutes of gunfire with fresh jades) - i am not a fan of the kanami sai. it is a lot slower than i expected, but not in a way that feels productive? static, dynamic, and even the feel on my arm, it all feels like the pad is fighting my mouse movements in some way. very strange feeling from a glass pad, and i'd need some more time with it to figure out why it feels so sluggish to me, but it's like i'm trying to fight a magnetic force: a constant pull in the opposite direction that makes me really uncertain of all my mouse movements. it is quite smooth though!! it's also a bit smaller than the beast, while being about double the thickness. - the beast is faster, more textured, and more responsive. it lets your mouse control shine though very well, but also showcases all of the inaccuracies in your aim.
@pinguefied a cordura pad with a glaze or resin on, so a fast pad with 80-90% the speed of a glass pad. It has a some foam to it so you can push down if you like. I can easily glide my arm using a sleeve and since I been using dot skates and glass skates on it I get a similar feel to when I use my glass pad.
Really interesting to see you switching back to cloth. Though I do wonder if the trade off of life span is worth it to be able to push your flick speed. I know you mentioned somewhere else that you believe that the slow down of cloth mousepads is overblown however personally my Artisan Hien XSoft developed a mud spot so bad that it made micro adjustments feel impossible. I’m not sure if my experience is a one off case or because I bought an XSoft but yeah, if you do continue to use this mousepad consistently please post an update on the pads condition. Thank you for another interesting review
currrently running an xsoft k83 with artisan dots setup with 2 dots touching on the top 2 corners + 2 dots bottom corners about a dot size apart and this is easily the most unique experience I have gotten from any artisan product / any aim related peripheral ever. The plushness of the xsoft barely slows down speed if at all with this combo and it is a very very odd experience 10/10 recommend trying this out if you want something unique! W Video tho🤝
I’ve been a glass pad user for a long time and I swapped to the Raiden and the Raiden mid has been my favorite pad out of the 4 Artisan pads do u think this new Artisan pad is better than the Raiden?
@@pinguefiedcould I ask you something it’s kinda a loaded question, I started playing on Pc from console a little over a year ago and aim training as well however over the year I’ve gained extremely bad upper back pain and right arm/shoulder pain while aiming I saw in the video you have more of ur arm on the table and I get told from a lot of videos that’s bad to do I’ve even tried recently looking up ai perfect height for desk and chair for my irl height and just continued pain in my aim journey feels staggered

I've been maining an sp-004 and hsk pro (htx mini and htr pro on the way). An air purifier solves most of glass's grievances, but I'd love to go back and see if cloth can really offer any benefit at this point. btw how do you even get artisan dots?
i have both and while the ac2 def has low variance between the two, it isnt better in that regard than the key83 imo its not bad at all in that aspect but it doesnt fill the same niche at all as the key83 and i dont think of it as an alternative

Another banger vid! Thanks for posting these. I just got my hsk pro and will be playing on the Key83 mid. Should I get new skates like the jade dots you were talking about or keep the g wolves default skates on?
just picked up a hayate otsu xsoft recently wonder how this and other new artisan pads would compare its super fast until its not after you reach a certain point of speed you begin to immediately feel that "textured" feeling this also happens if you press into the pad harder at less speed depending on how much you press into it what id be most curious in seeing is how it would feel to have that specific weave or say an otsu or zero etc with this added weave if it has all net positives that is its possible some people may not appreciate having that extra dexterity in diagonal movements but to me it sounds really fun to use if the otsu had the capability to move that way it would be very interesting although i like the way it is ive been using a faster sens since i got the pad for multiple reasons but it still is more controlled than my old muddy amazon pad while remaining lightning fast its super easy to stop even when playing on ludicrous sensitivities but i can imagine this pad being playable on ultra low sensitivities as well so its really balanced in both directions and could probably be used by just about anyone although i have no experience with other artisian mousepads this feels like it falls under a category of its fast while being controllable enough for 99% of people so long as they use the proper mouse combination that works for them like if you cant handle a really fast surface than a ultra lightweight 30gram fingertip mouse combo with this on a fast sensitivity might be difficult to control although i am running a lamzu maya fnatic edition (smol not the x variant also webbased is annoying lemme know if i made the right choice lol i tried to pick the one that would fit me better but there wasnt that much info on the real differences aside from the actual size anyways) so 45grams + really fast sensitivity + hayate otsu even an Xsoft otsu is probably faster than a mid zero but i have not a clue on that so decent little speed combo still controllable great pad would rec probably any artisan products 👍

I relate a lot about having issues with your arm feeling stuck in the mud with cloth. Were you able to find any solutions with your time with a hien? Do you think the mid/soft variants of the key83 can impact sleeve compatibility or the feeling of arm being stuck to the pad?
no :( the closest thing i had to a solution was buying a roll of uhmw tape and attaching it to my sweater lmao. the procision was okay on a few cloth pads too i had way more luck with the key83 mid in terms of sleeve compatibility. it might just be the plushness of the soft allowing my arm to press into the pad under pressure and get stuck though

@@prismlight0235 LOL sry i was intentionally avoiding talking about the pad bc i'm not a huge fan here's the most objective way i can describe it: it has faster dynamic friction than the kin v2 but with around the same static friction. the result is a pad that feels slippery; the static friction is so much higher relative to the dynamic that it is really hard to make fine motions. clean tracking and directional changes are absurdly hard and micros are a nightmare. it’s like using a tactile switch on a keyboard: you have to overcome the initial force requirement at the start of the movement, and with very tactile switches it’s hard to stop right after you clear the initial force. some switches are so tactile that as soon as you get past the bump, you bottom out the key instantly. this is essenitally what happens to your aim when trying to perform precise aim. the one benefit having such high relative static friction has is stability. i have some really solid bfv clips with the kin x because it's actively difficult to move the mouse after you end a flick. so my initial flicks look clean, but if i missed, it was really tough haha it's a very strange pad. it seems like the lower dynamic friction is something that was unintentional based on how they talk about it, but it results in a pad that will probably become a display piece for most people. the quality of life is also not very good imo.
@@pinguefied its the best sleeve mouse pad combo I've used, 100% worth trying out😁 black or white EADALI arm sleeve tho since there are differences weaving depending on the color
It's cool that you found a cloth pad you can enjoy again, and really great video! However, I am concerned with longevity. Pads always feel great in the first 2-6 weeks, and then slowly degrade from there. If you're still on this thing 2-3 months from now, and still find it just as consistent, it will be a miracle for cloth. That's why glass is kind of still king imo. Unless you are ok with buying 4 key 83's every year, I doubt it will ever reach the level of consistency of glass.
i don't think cloth wear is _that_ extreme on average, but yeah the infinite durability and surface consistency is something glass is objectively the best at we'll see in a couple months i suppose haha
this is why I'm debating on keeping my glasses pad honestly I think I might even just keep it for daily use and aesthetics and pull out my artisan zero when I play fps
It doesnt change anything not only mousepad can get cleaned but if you play on a glass pad youre gonna buy new skates every month so 12 skates a year yeah good luck with that and not gonna lie im top 10 in some aimlabs official exercise and i did just as well on my 4 years of use razer gigantus than i do on my brand new artisan zero mid. And im not beaming more than i used to in apex since a one clip is a one clip so i dont know where all that cloth pad wears out so much cuz i kept a pad for 4 years and didnt impact anything i cleaned it every 3 months tho. I also have lamzu maya x and at the end of the day it aint changing much from my superlight or thorn all this stuff is really REALLY superficial. Only thing that really matters is monitor and pc

I don't understand how everyone says the Key83 is so good for its directional consistency. I got my Key83 soft and the x-y difference is so noticeable I was extremely disappointed after seeing every other review saying that it's the most directionally consistent cloth pad. Not sure if it's just my copy or the pad's just like this but either way it's just not it
maybe it's because you're accustomed to slower y movements and this one is slightly faster y than x, so it feels more substantial? or it could be your copy, idk
@@pinguefied I just tested a few of my favourite mousepads to compare it with the Key83, the zero soft and venus pro. I tested them by using them normally vs using them 90 degrees flipped. Zero soft had slightly slower X than Y and venus pro had slightly faster X than Y, but in normal use, I don't notice the X-Y difference at all probably because of how the differences aren't as huge. Swapping between the two I also didn't have any problems despite the X-Y speeds being opposite to each other. I came to a conclusion that small X-Y differences in pads aren't as noticeable to me regardless of whether X is faster than Y or vice versa, but the fact that the Key83's X-Y difference is noticeable to me just.. disregards the whole purpose for me to buy this mousepad. This is my experience on the Key83 soft and I am aware that it's not supposed to have 0% X-Y difference and others' experiences could be different, but I just wanted to share my experiences + I had nowhere to vent my disappointment on this pad after hearing so much good things about it. for durability ur probably out of luck, even if skates don't physically wear down a lot they still tend to slow down :( the plastix and uhmw skates all were a bit too slow or scratchy for me, but if you're on an ultra fast/smooth pad, you might be able to get away with it. i haven't tried the obsidian pro airs either, mayb they have improved them.
personally my recommendation is to just get a ton of aliexpress skates. ultraglides are really solid: the rennsport II's impressed me a lot on the skypad 4, and before that i was just cycling through ultraglide speeds whenever they would get slower than i'd like. you can get a ton of them for quite cheap, i think it's a rly good solution

i don't think it's that similar to the otsu in terms of friction balance, but i'm glad you're happy with what u got :D
@pinguefied Yeah like it's not exactly an Otsu I know people say it's like in between Zero and Otsu. It's essentially another balanced Artisan pad but I know I don't really want something slower than the Hien anyway and I like the X/Y speed difference. I'm one of those people who likes to try all Artisans but Imma just hold off for now until I get bored.
can you drop the tf2 crosshair you're using at 0:27? its amazing
just a classic banger from pingu. and im not surprised it would be artisan that can make a cloth so good you want to use it over glass
BRO YOU CANNOT KEEP DOING THIS. my bank account cannot keep up with this 😭😭😭😭
This is wild timing for it to come out today.
Is this video anti glass sentiment?
no i still love glass! it felt limiting for a few aspects of aim but that only happened after 3 years of maining glass haha
i would recommend it if you are interested in the infinite durability, but otherwise the zero soft is a bit safer
Hey, Pingu. I see you tried Kanami Sai glasspad. It's my main now. I'm still waiting for my Beast preorder. Can you kindly compare them? In terms of speed, control, surface?
i haven't actually used it very much, i'll give it a spin later and let you know
@pinguefied ty, excited for ur opinion
my very brief thoughts from extremely insufficient testing (about 5 minutes of gunfire with fresh jades)
- i am not a fan of the kanami sai. it is a lot slower than i expected, but not in a way that feels productive? static, dynamic, and even the feel on my arm, it all feels like the pad is fighting my mouse movements in some way. very strange feeling from a glass pad, and i'd need some more time with it to figure out why it feels so sluggish to me, but it's like i'm trying to fight a magnetic force: a constant pull in the opposite direction that makes me really uncertain of all my mouse movements. it is quite smooth though!! it's also a bit smaller than the beast, while being about double the thickness.
- the beast is faster, more textured, and more responsive. it lets your mouse control shine though very well, but also showcases all of the inaccuracies in your aim.
I really like the esptiger blaze v3 and i wonder if artisan made something similar or better to it with this new pad.
what's it like?
@pinguefied a cordura pad with a glaze or resin on, so a fast pad with 80-90% the speed of a glass pad. It has a some foam to it so you can push down if you like. I can easily glide my arm using a sleeve and since I been using dot skates and glass skates on it I get a similar feel to when I use my glass pad.
@@ramoraid that's interesting :o thank u for sharing!!
A good watch outside Aucklands closed airport.
i didn't believe u when you said you were cursed in regards to flying, that's crazy
currrently running an xsoft k83 with artisan dots setup with 2 dots touching on the top 2 corners + 2 dots bottom corners about a dot size apart and this is easily the most unique experience I have gotten from any artisan product / any aim related peripheral ever. The plushness of the xsoft barely slows down speed if at all with this combo and it is a very very odd experience 10/10 recommend trying this out if you want something unique!
W Video tho🤝
Is the soft and mid really that big of a difference in speed ? Mid compared to a soft raiden and soft compared to zero and otsu 😣
Was it viscose who slid the pad under the door!?😭😭

I've been maining an sp-004 and hsk pro (htx mini and htr pro on the way). An air purifier solves most of glass's grievances, but I'd love to go back and see if cloth can really offer any benefit at this point. btw how do you even get artisan dots?
viscose has a bunch bc she has connections to artisan, so i got to steal some. they are not out quite yet though :(
not the first, aqua control 2 has more equal friction between the two. the key 83's y axis is smoother and faster than x
i have both and while the ac2 def has low variance between the two, it isnt better in that regard than the key83 imo
its not bad at all in that aspect but it doesnt fill the same niche at all as the key83 and i dont think of it as an alternative
Sorry for asking all these questions but what glass and fingertip should I get. I love your content
what are you looking for out of a glass pad/ftip mouse?
I don’t mind I’m currently using a shidenkai v2 but speed or control I don’t mind finger tip mice g wolves is all I jnow
@@acornskie9930 if you like the shidenkai, i think it offers many of the benefits of glass and escapes a few of the downsides :o given that you've tried some enthusiast pads you should tell me your preferences if you're in the market for a glasspad. and for ftip mice, the hsk pro is still my favorite bc it's the only one (aside from the keychron m4) that's small enough to be very finger driven. are you looking for that kind of pen-like experience or would you prefer a more normally proportioned mouse that gives you room for ftip mobility?
@@pinguefiedI think I’m really looking into Glsswrks and the Beast maybe the Wallhack. But coming down to fingertip mice maybe pen like, if that’s what the Hsk pro is I’m in Australia so I don’t know if that limits things aswell. For me sleeve compatibility has become one of the most important aspects of a cloth pad. That's why I got the puretrak P-51. Its pretty good with my lizard skin sleeve but still not perfect. Interesting video for my use case
key-83 with black or white EADALI arm sleeve is the best mousepad + arm sleeve combo I've tried. KIBU arm sleeve are also good according to uNlseashedjp, but KIBU do not have international shipping

Do you think the mid/soft variants of the key83 can impact sleeve compatibility or the feeling of arm being stuck to the pad?
no :( the closest thing i had to a solution was buying a roll of uhmw tape and attaching it to my sweater lmao. the procision was okay on a few cloth pads too
i had way more luck with the key83 mid in terms of sleeve compatibility. it might just be the plushness of the soft allowing my arm to press into the pad under pressure and get stuck though

Enjoy the content, u recently made me switch to hsk pro and a skypad 3.0, loving it so far!

@@pinguefied 😭 that's fair, any words about the performance though?. I was thinking of getting either that or the beast ( tempted to get both ngl ).
@@prismlight0235 LOL sry i was intentionally avoiding talking about the pad bc i'm not a huge fan
here's the most objective way i can describe it: it has faster dynamic friction than the kin v2 but with around the same static friction. the result is a pad that feels slippery; the static friction is so much higher relative to the dynamic that it is really hard to make fine motions. clean tracking and directional changes are absurdly hard and micros are a nightmare. it’s like using a tactile switch on a keyboard: you have to overcome the initial force requirement at the start of the movement, and with very tactile switches it’s hard to stop right after you clear the initial force. some switches are so tactile that as soon as you get past the bump, you bottom out the key instantly. this is essenitally what happens to your aim when trying to perform precise aim.
the one benefit having such high relative static friction has is stability. i have some really solid bfv clips with the kin x because it's actively difficult to move the mouse after you end a flick. so my initial flicks look clean, but if i missed, it was really tough haha
it's a very strange pad. it seems like the lower dynamic friction is something that was unintentional based on how they talk about it, but it results in a pad that will probably become a display piece for most people. the quality of life is also not very good imo.
@@pinguefied Appreciate it and love your content, thanks!

Unless you are ok with buying 4 key 83's every year, I doubt it will ever reach the level of consistency of glass.
i don't think cloth wear is _that_ extreme on average, but yeah the infinite durability and surface consistency is something glass is objectively the best at
we'll see in a couple months i suppose haha
this is why I'm debating on keeping my glasses pad honestly I think I might even just keep it for daily use and aesthetics and pull out my artisan zero when I play fps
Based on your experience using a glass pad, what mouse feet would you recommend in terms of durability? Nice vid
for durability ur probably out of luck, even if skates don't physically wear down a lot they still tend to slow down :(
the plastix and uhmw skates all were a bit too slow or scratchy for me, but if you're on an ultra fast/smooth pad, you might be able to get away with it. i haven't tried the obsidian pro airs either, mayb they have improved them.
personally my recommendation is to just get a ton of aliexpress skates. ultraglides are really solid: the rennsport II's impressed me a lot on the skypad 4, and before that i was just cycling through ultraglide speeds whenever they would get slower than i'd like. you can get a ton of them for quite cheap, i think it's a rly good solution
