@@pauliman1098 I’ve been grinding since season 1 and still don’t have everyone. I spent money on 3 fighters as well. Plus they removed all the characters I had in the beta like Finn.
I agree. I've noticed the ratio of dollars you must spend to do things to things to actually do is a lot more disproportionate than most f2p games. I mean even the mobile Gacha games and smaller budget titles like Double Dragon NEON have significantly more replayability in their content than Multiversus has in their non pvp content
@@BPlusEfforts honestly, I think the best f2p that handle these greatly are DragonBall Legends, and Flash Party. Both which are amazing in their own right
I feel like if this game were to try and cater to the older players, they would revert the speed, character sizes and the zoomed in camera back to how it was in the beta. But I can understand your thoughts
@LucyLoud_Fan If we being honest, Multiversus coming out at the beginning of the summer was a cash grab. They just switched to a whole new engine and only had a year to cook. The game was so laggy, bug, kept crashing on release for weeks.
one thing that would help is making sure every season launches with a big hitter character that's gonna bring in a lot of people, while also adjusting how gaining characters work
@oxicemusic "one thing" never did I say this was the only issue lol. Also I never said they need to pump out more characters than they currently are, quality over quantity thing
New MvS was missing so many things on it's launch. Stuff that shoulda been in the game day 1 we had to wait for in future patches. Still the worst offense to me is the fact they slowed down the game. Reminds me of that first trailer we got of the game and it was slow in the trailer but much faster in the game.
WB and Player First Games should actually open their eyes and take a few notes out of Marvel Rivals' book. Going from a game that's a tedious, uninspired grind, to a game that respects my money and TIME is actually so refreshing. I wanna love MVS but clearly it doesn't love me ;)
@@Right_Bumperbecause they are both games that rely on their massive IPs But one is 100x more successful than the other, despite it having all their characters FOR FREE on day one instead of grinding for hours per character
@@Right_Bumper That's true but it's too grindy with the new system they have I unlocked characters pretty easily before with Fighter currency, even if people hated it,it was a good system Now its trash with fighter road,at least I only have 2 fighters left The problem is,the selling point of these games is their IPs,but MvS locks it behind an insane grind/paywall but Marvel rivals doesn't I can't even invite my friends to play MvS with me(despite that being what they want in rifts) because this system paywalls everything for newcomers unless they want to grind the entire cast just to get to the character they actually like, but I can invite anyone of my friends to rivals because everyone is free day one and it's monetization is solely reliant on skins
@@AromaticMetal0147 Ye but you only ever got fc with certain events, where as now you can always get FR XP The only issue is not choosing who you unlock, fix that and it's perfect. You should be rewarded for grinding
I never thought too deeply about the issues with the tutorials, but these are very excellent points and suggestions. The only counter I can see for them not going as hog wild for the tutorial as you're suggesting is because they might not have the budget to add in all that. Honestly I think budget is a massive reason why Multiversus' quality is starting to decay a bit, similar to what held back Nick All Star Brawl 1. WB just needs to start trusting PFG a little more with their money lol That said I do agree that they really need to start shifting their focus on appealing to new players as opposed to keeping the ones they currently have (not that that shouldn't be important either, of course)
Casually, I'd be more interested in playing the game if we just had access to all characters right away, or at least let us have a short, fun grind to unlock them, not have to either waste hours or money for just 1 character. Hell, you could do that, then still charge like $20 for all characters, and I feel like people would be less upset. Oh, well. I wish this game could've thrived more.
2:06 the footage of the MVS tutorial is a 2x speed, but that looks like regular 1x speed in ANY OTHER CURRENT PLATFORM FIGHTER. Really goes to show how painfully slow Multiversus moves at. And speeding up everything SIGNIFICANTLY is something that will make the game feel a lot more fun to play.
The main reason is that new players gotta sell their soul to unlock characters, my fighter road is complete, but I got 300 hours. BETA included , my friends who played a few games during the beta gotta sell their soul just to unlock characters , what’s the point of brining in new characters to bring people in if they can’t even play with them, not even in customs
This "GAME CHANGING" update they teased better work miracles. Because I know a LOT of people have one foot out the door or worse have the game uninstalled.
I’m still playing it to this day. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it since it launched in May of this year. Despite some lag, and game crashes, I just simply ignore that stuff and have fun.
The old model where you paid 40 dollars and got the "full" roster was really good. But they saw their numbers and thought they could get away with their greed
I love MVS, as a casual, I am fine with the gameplay. I do see the broad fighting game community say the gameplay doesnt meet what they want to see. I wish PFG could captivate the broad fighting game community though/ implement all changes that people have to critique the current gameplay. If they update the game & have it with gameplay the fighting game community wants to see, the game would thrive more. Not sure how they haven't reached the gameplay the fighting game community wants if Nakat is on the team. I figured having a smash pro would help pfg know what the fighting game community wants for gameplay. I hope they get it right soon & bring people back in There are other layers as to what MVS could do to improve (fix glitches that have been in the game since relaunch), along with things you mentioned such as a better tutorial. The beta had great tutorials & advanced tutorials. They should bring these back, and offer as many tutorials as possible. Local play needs the beta UI back (current UI for local play is subpar and looks unfinished). Also think the game shouldve been marketed as local play being important too (not just online gameplay).
4:25 You know something multiverses is the first Fighting game I've played and I didn't even notice this was a problem and I thought all fighting games did this. Thanks for telling me the facts
Remove the forced bot matches when you lose too many matches in a row, I shouldn't be punished for getting my teeth kicked in by sweaty shaggy and banana guards. Seriously, what game does this especially in this genre?
I agree. Also remove the bot matches when you haven't played casual queue in a while. I had basically just played ranked and arenas for a couple seasons. Then I decided let's play some 2v2 unranked. And I got a teammate vs 2 bots 4 games in a row. No I did not click casual queue I clicked on unranked 2v2.
Yeah, one thing I hate about this is the game telling you to "do X Move 5 times" or "ignite an opponent" when you can't even look at movesets without backing up to a whole other screen and pick a couple more options. I don't play fighting games to really learn characters deeply but I can still respect having combo trials and other options that let me know short combos I can rely on in a pinch.
What made me leave is the grindy Battle pass and grind for certain event rewards. And the fact that i have to unlock characters. Also the fact that they never gave me back my 50000 gold i was saving to unlock characters in beta. But everyone who spent the gold got to keep there characters. It wasn't fair.
This game is doomed if pfg doesn't do anything to improve fighter road, having to unlock like 20-30 characters just to get Marceline is stupid for new players They are not going through all that processed, they are just going to uninstall it ._.
I have a criticism for the online comunity, because if you try find multiversus content you will primarily find video like; how to save multiversus, is multiversus dead? And all sort off content that transpires fear and anxiety towards the game, and this contribute to this "downfall" because why shold i waste time in a dead game? So i think that we shouldn't focus only on the bad things of the game, yes we shold talk about the problems but not just that. Like arena even though i never play it, it's a good mode from wat i heard.
Blind positivity is not gonna help the game. Most of the people critiquing and watching these critiques already played the game. The mainstream casual audience moved on for the most part😂. Just look at Marvels Rivals in comparison. That game is being CONSTANTLY PRAISED cause its GOOD💀
I really hope this game doesn’t die, there is SOOOO much potential here. I don’t grind it anymore, but I still hop in a few games every now and then and I still have fun, just wish there wasn’t as much negativity in the community. Has to be demotivating for the developers.
@ well the way I see it, it’s a free to play game and a lot of casual players won’t be paying for skins, so the way they’ll have to generate money is by making you buy the characters at least. Maybe it could be cheaper, but I feel like they’re doing the best they can with a free fighting game. They should have just made you pay for the game, and then make characters free
I agree with a lot of things in the video... Except like the final 5 minutes. 1) PFG have put themselves in a horrible spot with characters. They can NOT EVER make everyone free, it is physically impossible. Why? Because the Ultimate 100 dollar edition. It included a ton of character tickets which they promised would be able to be used for every single character going forward, enough so that you can use all of them. If they don't keep that promise they can actually be liable for lawsuits (Probably, it sounds like a headache either way) 2) Making characters available in fighters road the season after they release would also be pretty bad. Unless they go back to being Battlepass characters, this would anger and make the casuals more wanting to leave the game behind. While the fighter's road isn't perfect, I've already seen huge improvements since I've been doing it myself and now they have way more choosing options. Again it's not perfect but before was way worse. 3) Rifts is obviously how they're trying to do a story mode, except they went world of light instead of subspace. This was done for multiple reasons. It still gives a story but without having to do a bunch of animations, voice acting and gives them the ability to put a bunch of seasonal FOMO rewards to keep player retention. Besides I don't think a mode like Subspace would be possible in the timespan they create everything else, it would take an insane effort to get there Otherwise, this was a pretty good video, props to you
First 2 points i think you're dead on. I didn't think about the legal nightmare that would be to go back on your word to your early adopters. As someone who spent their last fighter ticket on Nubia it hadn't even occurred to me that others would feel slighted. As for the story mode bit id also be okay with a smaller budget beat'em up style narrative that gets an update every 4-5 seasons. Something on the scale of a Double Dragon NEON. It's very light on the voice work and if done right can incorporate different routes and paths for replayability. And maybe implement a high score/time attack leader board. Something that speedrunners and those who like single player/co-op stuff can really grind not for just rewards but for something fun. Also if the game is down for maintenance and you want to boot it up you could play the mode offline as well.
12:56 This is similar to what they did before where the bew character was locked behind the battlepass, forcing you to spend IRL money or wait a while season. Fighter's Road isnt bad at all, you just keep assuming people only want to play the latest characters to make your point. For those people, they can simply spend $10 to get the supposed only character they care about, then they'd have no problem enjoying the game long enough to unlock everyone else by the time a new fighter rolls around
Don’t know if you saw the new into the verse but you are able to choose most of any of the characters in fighters road, with the exception of the newest 3 characters. Now they just have to adjust fighter xp distribution
Great video and yes fighter road sucks and will put off everyone. I downloaded and bought the BP just because Powerpuff Girls released (and it had the Rowdyruff Boys variant which I realised would be twice as costly later so I bought it). I regularly watch MVS content, I post stories, made few people install it, comments and interacts on their community ever since. And imagine if that was on fighter road, I have a full-time job and I would have to grind for like 3 months basically doing a part-time job for this game for unlocking the PPG to just get a hold of them? I wouldn't have played the game AT ALL. When games with better fighting mechanics, more fun exists, why did I want to pay for Powerpuffs? Because the game's characters are the GREATEST OF ALL TIME. The thought of me being able to fight representing Rowdyruff Boys against Samurai Jack, Joker, Batman even the ogs like Bugs, Tom and Jerry is like the biggest dream I had as a kid. When it's such a character heavy game it makes no sense to lock characters under such unbelievably stupid greedy system, the game is desperate for people but the people behind it are desperate to find new ways to make money (yeah we need you to be rich too but trying to fuck over the passionate ones is never a great way compared to having 30k people playing the game daily, the second would just make so much more money in every possible way) And this is a GREAT point, when the casuals are bored the game is dead. Me and my friends used to spend 2 months just 8 man customs in Brawlhalla, a lot of us started queuing online just to get better to be better than each other when we fight next. I can't even invite 3 of my friends here of how all of these characters that we grew up with like Samurai Jack, Tom and Jerry, Raven etc are all locked under an equivalent effort of doing part-time job that is unpaid. Idk how these developers thought it was ever a good idea to not let people choose what characters they want, while their currency was actually still very grind heavy and shit, it is SUBJECTIVE to which individual want which characters, they just made their own road with their own priority list and just called it improvement. It's legit only improvement for people who coincidentally likes the first 5 characters they chose for us and the others would just not want to play.
I think we're free from worry until like 2027. It's really only going to be red alert when the next Nintendo console is out and they announce Super Smash Bros. ENDGAME lmao
Tbh the biggest thing they could do is look at marvel rivals and let’s all characters be free only charge for skins and have consistent content events and drop rifts replace wit with an arcade mode
Multiversus biggest problem is the core game mechanics. The game just isn't nearly as fun as it's platform fighter competitors, even at a casual level.
In this very video I said "obviously budget permitting and I'm not saying this is something anytime soon". In the video. I also said other modes like arenas will suffice. Like maybe you're just skipping around the video and missing these things cause you can't watch 20 minutes straight but so far you're 0 for 2.
Frankly at this point they need to re-release it without it being a service styled game. Give us physical. just like Smash. That way when the service goes down we don't lose the game forever.
Idk why they didn’t just add ALL of their most popular IPs. There’s not enough demand for characters like beetleguise to justify them being in the game before characters like Ben 10 or even robin
Beetlejuice I'm willing to give some slack because he *is* a fan favorite IP (also the Broadway musical really helped to rejuvinate the BJ fanbase) plus he did have a new movie come out so I can understand wanting him there to cross-promote. Even Smash Bros isn't immune to that kind of strategy (ie most Fire Emblem characters lol)
The difference with Smash is its already got its main IP characters covered. Smash doesn't really make the mistake to include a character like Sheik before Link.
They gave us banana guard before ben10😂😂😂 , they could’ve gotten either voice actor too since Tara has done powerpuff girls, Harley, & Raven now and Yuri did Spider-Man for rivals, so they could either go ben10 OG or alien force , but nah give us banana guard instead
When it comes to tutorials they should at least put the videos of Nakat explaining the characters in depth in the the game, i don’t see why not considering they’re gonna make the videos for each character anyway, just put em in the game
for me it was the quality of the beta then the jarring 180 full release. I miss the speed and jankyness of the gameplay that is what made it unique and different then the array of smash like platformers. The insane connects you could make with the old system, and the lack of certain features that literally every platform fighter implements simply copying Smash is what made it fun. What killed the game before was a lack of regular meaningful updates and networking, the servers were terrible at the end of the beta.
I figured that'd be the case. I also think the game could use something similar to Double Dragon NEON or Streets of Rage 4. I'm not asking for big budget CGI cutscenes for the entirety of the narrative or other games modes. I'm okay with those games ability to weave a narrative with stakes with some voice acting and text with some sick art. Essentially id be fine with the comics being integrated as playable in the rifts mode or a new arcade/story mode.
I forgot this game existed.I've been playing marvel rivals, a game where all of the characters aren't locked and I don't have to worry about inconsistent frame data
Interesting that you mentioned a Story Mode I think what makes it tough for Multiversus is the question what enemies do they use? do they use Gems from Steven Universe? Fire Kingdom from Adventure time or do they make up original enemies? Also, another mistake following Super Smash Bros influence, as even Super Smash Bro's itself at least for the first 3 games followed Kirby's influence in terms of Story/Campaign modes which Player First Games should barrow "Kirby" if they make a Campaign mode.
No they didn't. One cinematic is not a narrative. They showed Finn, Gizmo and Velma being "chased" by Jason and never paid it off. No mystery cutscenes from other characters, no big escape scene or how Jason helps further Joker's plans. No cutscenes explaining Joker's plan or how it threatens anyone or even raises what's at stake. Zero narrative just "LOL Jason kills people" and then the next one was "Lol agent smith has a gun at a dark office" but ZERO narrative significance or building upon Jason's cutscene. So no... they in fact did NOT do that.
@@BPlusEffortsThx for responding but.... That was the best they could have afforded, and it didn't raise the playerbase enough to make it worth it, so they switched to cheaper to make comics (which might still flop) Not every game can pull a TF2 or OW, especially on a live service fighting game about "already animated" characters.
I don't need the most animated thing of all time. I'm good with a Double Dragon NEO or Streets of Rage approach or hell even beat'em ups of old. Where you just give me villains, their motivations, and a payoff that feels like you saved the world or furthered the plot. Could have the art team just draw something in a comic book style that tells a complete story for a season. Then have it voiced. I don't need full CGI Dreamworks level animation but something that's compelling enough that makes me want to go "I wonder what happens next"
Why I haven't played Multiverse after the first Beta? The game to me just doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a game that should focus on 2v2 or 1v1? Does it wanna be chaotic fun? does it wanna be fast or slow? Does it want want to be a competitive or not?. Like who is this game even for? Casuals don't just like Smash because it's easy and Nintendo characters, there's so much you can do in all the Smash games that all kinds of players can enjoy. MVS may have familiar characters but with absolute no substance or soul. Sm4sh WiiU has more to offer than MVS does and that's considered the most barebones Smash game. I wouldn't want Multiverse to die because there's clearly people who enjoy the game but as long as it's free to play and doesn't have a clear focus? The game will never thrive. From the start it wants to take more and more from the player instead of giving players a reason to give more. Competive free to play games that locks all characters behind a paywall is just insane to me.
two of the main reasons why the game is not doing well is because of Warner going uber idiotic with the progression and unlock for stuff as it seems that is a total executive decision on monetizing the game, that's not the devs fault. I remember on release I was playing religiously for 3 weeks and I didn't got any fighter currency by doing the daily missions and events. Now they added the fighter road that gives some sort of progression but is garbage as you unlock characters you really do not care about. Secondly and my personal one is that the combat is super jank as is not as clear what are hitboxes and what are hurtboxes, doesn't give a clear view of what it is considered as a hit, what has hit priority (Is really stupid that Jason's weapons are considered as hurtboxes for some reason) or actual feedback for many characters as the particle effect of the game does not show how powerful an attack is nor the direction it goes. There are way too many times I do a proper follow up but the hitboxes are not very well programmed with the animations so it really is difficult to know when is going to hit or when it won't, that gives a lot of the neutral game of just exchanging fail attacks even on high level play instead of just measuring your space as other fighting games. Making the game with an easy way to cancel attacks makes the game really difficult to have people aboard it first time that no tutorial can teach you how to approach it, if you weren't first day to get the mechanics you are going to get clapped no matter how many times you try again and again. Something extra is that the MMR system is based completely around the character and not the player, further more the ranked system is not completely on elo so is always going up if you have a player that is really bad since the beginning and just plays for long hours they end up in a high up rank making a lot of users having high ranks even when they are bad at playing making the rank system useless as you don't know really who is skilled on the game or just some guy who plays longer, so is really jarring as a starter you get to play against some veteran that just want to flex that has all characters in Master
now, multiversus gave banana guard for free right? i have this dumb meme character... so i opened the game yesterday, and press rlly fast the buttons to see the fighters road, and then the game made me buy banana guard.... AGAIN, i already had this CHARACTER
You're the second person who said this. I had no idea if you don't manually select a character it will buy a duplicate and waste your progression. I'd definitely report this their support team or if nothing else @ the devs on twitter.
@@BPlusEfforts i know what, i dont even care anymore, i feel numb towards this game, its just sad, so much potential, but yeah im done with this game (i'll still wont forgive the gold scam)
WE WANT AN OPEN WORLD MODE LIKE FORTNITE BUT USE CITY'S OF THE CHARACTERS....LIKE BEN 10 AND BELLWOOD... BATMAN AND GOTHAM CITY .... POWER PUFF GIRL'S AND TOWNSVILLE....AND SO ON
I was literally wondering when someone was gonna talk about the tutorial option 😂 , even though I learned during the beta just by playing consistently against friends…but what about new players that want to play ? Didn’t smash have this off rip ? Im never the type to hate on MVS because look @ the characters that we have & what is to come…but no one from development thought about this when you guys took a year off ?
I reinstalled MVS when Raven dropped and that fighter road deleted my leftover unlock tickets from the Founder's pack. I immediately uninstalled and swore the game off. WB continues to get scummier, it makes me so sad because I miss the MVS community. That's why I'm even here, was hoping to see the game in a healthier state.
I just unlocked LeBron James when they updated Fighter Road, but I didn’t claim him yet so the game defaulted to Banana Guard, WTF? I already unlocked that character months ago! 😳🤬
Brother saving it means they have to redue everything they done. Im not even kidding. When it was announced to be re-released, it was already shrouded in doubt and hate, for example, how slow it is now. I only played it because I liked how fast and sorta fluid it was compared to now, others liked it because of the chance to play their favorite characters or just of the charm. But now all it has going for is it's charm. One week of just playing the game, and I already dropped it. From the choppy looking animation to the greedy monetization and unforgiving grind that rivals the darth vader grind for battlefront 2 pre updates. It was just unbearable and lacking compared to the beta version. I get that they have to earn money, but they don't need to lock a character behind it or make it so unbearable to grind for it that you have to cough up some dough, you can earn money by good will alone. A game only thrives if the playerbase feels treated right. That's why some games like brawlhalla or warframe or Hell, even helldivers 2 survive for a long time with a healthy playerbase.
I'm not worrying about it dying. I fully believe there will be players here for a long while. However the new player experience right now is not in a good place. Keeping old players happy should be a priority but a lot of them are in fact leaving. Getting new players involved in the game is paramount. Every mobile game I can think of drops expansions, characters, new modes, mini games, and lore. And in games like Honkai star rail, Zenless Zone Zero, Candy Crush, Age of Empires mobile, over 70% of those upgrades and additions can be experienced in FULL as a f2p player WHILE ITS NEW CONTENT! Multiversus lacks in that department . New players especially those not convinced to pull out their wallet need enough to convince themselves that they're having fun. Enough fun to want to cash out. As it stands right now just having access to 4 game modes and one of the worst implemented PvE modes I've ever played (Rifts) that isn't going to keep them around.
Most ppl think shields r what’s ruining the game, I don’t agree, I think shields r a good addition to the game although I will agree on the part that it obviously has its own issues. I mainly think it’s the fact that they add characters that no1 cares about like Nubia, and making the game’s roster horribly unbalanced. I’d say some stuff that’ll help the game would be to release characters we actually ask for and care about and make the roster more balanced overtime, also keep shields but fix how they function in this game.
The new character unlock systems is so ass. I didn’t mind that they were part of the battlepass you at least got them day one and locked in with everything else in the pass. Now it’s pay real money day one or wait till the end of the week to be able to get them free which I’m sorry is very scummy in my eyes and then if you have everyone and finish the shorter battle passes now the fighter unlock XP is virtually useless and leaves me unmotivated to claim anything till the next season so the XP actually gets used for a character. It’s such a downgrade
Never been a big fan of it but with the free to play route a lot of games do this. Hell now that I think of it... WBs other project Mortal Kombat does it worse. You have to buy the ENTIRE Kombat Pack ($40-50) and you get the character for not 4 days... but 2 whole weeks before everyone else. Even IF you only care about ONE character in the pack, you'd have to buy all 4. If MVS did that you'd of had to pre order a pack with Nubia & Smith just to get raven and marceline. And MK has been financially successful for a long time. I guess that's why WB wanted to take that route a second time
The gameplay feels pretty good. But almost everything else about it screams mobile game. Now, this game has plenty of confusion when it comes to the gameplay, but the rest of the game is absolutely confounding and it doesn't need to be like that. I have no problem spending money in a F2P game if I enjoy it, and I wouldn't have a problem spending money in this one. But it's not only overpriced in some respects, but it's nearly impossible to determine value in the things you buy. You can spend 1500 gleamium on a cosmetic that doesn't unlock any gameplay whatsoever, but also spend 500 that opens up a group of missions in one of the rifts. As a result, I don't want to spend money in this game, and that's before I consider whether or not it has a future.
More GoT and MK characters and the game will resurge. ...and yes, change the grind also. But they are too focused on old movie IPs and cartoons. I get it, the game is for kids, but you can easily "kid-ify" Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Jade (yes, you heard me), etc. Obviously GoT is already in the game and all of its characters are easy to fit in a game for younger audience, despite their mature source material. I mean, look at JASON VOORHEES being in the game. Why no MK and just 1 GoT character? Oh, and uhh, hello, HARRY POTTER? Wtf WB.
I think your a little off the mark, The main problem with Multiversus is the gameplay. The beta had it's problems, but it's gameplay was unique enough to pull in it's own niche audience, and now PFG has cut out everything that made that version of the game fun and gave us nothing in return. Old players don't want to come back because the game is slower and less interesting than before, and new players aren't staying because they play one match, realize very quickly how shallow combat is, and dip. People will play games with awful microtransactions and grindy progression systems so long as it's fun , and right now it just isn't. Maybe shields are gonna help, but right now I feel like the problems are deep-rooted and require a long time to fix. Maybe season 5 will do it but I doubt it.
Ngl main combos are boring no character has actual combo routes , especially because of tech. Ranked isn’t hard u get masters for free. Whole game is just empty as a bag of chips.
We really need PFG Fix Fighters Road, or least ALLOW us to spend the dumb Fighter currancy in more ways than one. One idea is to obviously allow the choice of free will, and let us pick our fighters to unlock afterwards. Don't make us go through this stupid tier BS just to get ONE specific fighter. Another, is to tune down the XP needed to unlock 1 of the 3 characters, say around at least 2,000 to 3,000. I've been hearing this 'Hard Character Grind' as the main complain for MvS, and I have the players from Marvel Rivals to thank for. I heard that game is more forgiving to new players, so therefore people stopped playing MVS cuz of it, but it's pretty unfair to compare another game genre to this one if you ask me. It could definitely take notes from it, but that's all I can say. As dumb as it sounds, but I'm gonna have to say this. PFG... #SaveMVS
They can't make tutorials because they overhaul system mechanics so often. LITERALLY they released a tutorial on black adam, yet it was on an OLD patch where they before they nerfed the hitbox of his nair (even though the current patch on the day that the video was released had the nerfed nair). I totally disregarded the tutorial and said the developers were "idiots". I sound very harsh, but this game just lacks polish and it's frustrating. It feels like they're always trying to "catch up" from a release that was too premature.
I've talked about that before too. I can not stand how if you take 3 weeks off and come back there's a new system mechanic or a cast wide rework. The games rules are so inconsistent by the time most players get a grip on the mechanic they change the rules or they add another mechanic that completely ruins how they LIKED to play the game
@@BPlusEfforts I was really excited for all the fast fall changes, but my excitement got overshadowed by the implementation of shields. I got my Master rank.... and I'm done till next season basically. I HATED grinding this season. It felt the worst out of all the seasons so far.
game died because of horrible monetization, ridiculous grind for new characters or 20 dollars, horrible pve needed for progression, lack and then bad comp system, and new characters that were bad picks (nubia). Game also felt like it was targeting kids and that's realistically not the audience you're going to get as a fighting game. Game had potential but at this point nothing can save it, it's down to less than a thousand concurrent players and that's not enough to sustain a studio like this.
I quit Multiversus for half a year waiting for them to get their head out of the gutter. Came back to check youtube. The exact same titles ''How to save multiversus... multiversus dying... multiversus devs greedy..'' See you guys in half a year. Good luck.
Frankly, the main reason i don't even bother is due to how miserable unlocking characters is.
Fighters road is terrible

Dude it’s incredibly easy to unlock fighters if you’ve been playing.
For me, it’s that the game is more interested in getting you to purchase skins and cosmetics more than providing a fun gameplay experience

Hot Take: I think this game is trying to cater to all the old players instead of the new players. But all the older players are starting to leave.
“Starting” is funny
@ My fault you right 😭
Might be true bc I'm an old player that Uninstalled
I feel like if this game were to try and cater to the older players, they would revert the speed, character sizes and the zoomed in camera back to how it was in the beta. But I can understand your thoughts
@LucyLoud_Fan If we being honest, Multiversus coming out at the beginning of the summer was a cash grab. They just switched to a whole new engine and only had a year to cook. The game was so laggy, bug, kept crashing on release for weeks.
one thing that would help is making sure every season launches with a big hitter character that's gonna bring in a lot of people, while also adjusting how gaining characters work
Don't they be doing that already. Every season they introduce character
No it won’t because just like raven they’ll paywall her for 3 days and ppl hype will be gone before they could get her
@@ClarkHamilton-y9e did you not read the last sentence?
This isnt the issue. Theres enough characters as is.
@oxicemusic "one thing" never did I say this was the only issue lol. Also I never said they need to pump out more characters than they currently are, quality over quantity thing
It bugs me how the beta had SO MANY TUTORIALS, normal ones and more complicated ones, but the new MVS doesn't even have half of it!
New MvS was missing so many things on it's launch. Stuff that shoulda been in the game day 1 we had to wait for in future patches. Still the worst offense to me is the fact they slowed down the game. Reminds me of that first trailer we got of the game and it was slow in the trailer but much faster in the game.
Now that sonic and justice league will have a crossover, imagine sonic getting into multiversus
Does Warner Brothers own Sonic now?
WB and Player First Games should actually open their eyes and take a few notes out of Marvel Rivals' book. Going from a game that's a tedious, uninspired grind, to a game that respects my money and TIME is actually so refreshing. I wanna love MVS but clearly it doesn't love me ;)
Why that game? They’re not even in the same genre
@@Right_Bumperbecause they are both games that rely on their massive IPs
But one is 100x more successful than the other, despite it having all their characters FOR FREE on day one instead of grinding for hours per character
@@AromaticMetal0147 Unlocking characters in fighting games is a staple, not shooters
@@Right_Bumper That's true but it's too grindy with the new system they have
I unlocked characters pretty easily before with Fighter currency, even if people hated it,it was a good system
Now its trash with fighter road,at least I only have 2 fighters left
The problem is,the selling point of these games is their IPs,but MvS locks it behind an insane grind/paywall but Marvel rivals doesn't
I can't even invite my friends to play MvS with me(despite that being what they want in rifts) because this system paywalls everything for newcomers unless they want to grind the entire cast just to get to the character they actually like, but I can invite anyone of my friends to rivals because everyone is free day one and it's monetization is solely reliant on skins
@@AromaticMetal0147 Ye but you only ever got fc with certain events, where as now you can always get FR XP
The only issue is not choosing who you unlock, fix that and it's perfect. You should be rewarded for grinding
My main issue is how there so many
Easter eggs for mortal kombat sense day one but yet where my mortal kombat characters yo !!!!
WB just needs to start trusting PFG a little more with their money lol
That said I do agree that they really need to start shifting their focus on appealing to new players as opposed to keeping the ones they currently have (not that that shouldn't be important either, of course)
Been supporting the game since day 1 beta. But I sadly think it’s over for Multiversus
They gotta take notes from marvel rivals for example have everyone free and unlocked already
I hope they get it right soon & bring people back in
There are other layers as to what MVS could do to improve (fix glitches that have been in the game since relaunch), along with things you mentioned such as a better tutorial. The beta had great tutorials & advanced tutorials. They should bring these back, and offer as many tutorials as possible.
Local play needs the beta UI back (current UI for local play is subpar and looks unfinished). Also think the game shouldve been marketed as local play being important too (not just online gameplay).
To save this game they need to up the speed a lip bit and and characters like Huey and Riley
For me, The game only needs more maps and gamemodes to get being a better game.
Fighters Road is not meant for new players.
Or for ones who have everything current unlocked
@ exactly
What made me leave is the grindy Battle pass and grind for certain event rewards. And the fact that i have to unlock characters. Also the fact that they never gave me back my 50000 gold i was saving to unlock characters in beta. But everyone who spent the gold got to keep there characters. It wasn't fair.
You realize how stupid you sound? Mad that you have to unlock characters in a FREE game…..
This game is doomed if pfg doesn't do anything to improve fighter road, having to unlock like 20-30 characters just to get Marceline is stupid for new players
They are not going through all that processed, they are just going to uninstall it ._.
I have issues with the roster, art style variants, and fighters road
Just add the ghostbusters. Then we’re cooking
Right there with you on the first sentence
Maybe if the devs weren't so GREEDY. They wouldnt be receiving so much "demotivation"😂
Is no one gonna talk about that improv song he presented us? Twas magnificent, bravo! 👏
If they don't keep that promise they can actually be liable for lawsuits (Probably, it sounds like a headache either way)
2) Making characters available in fighters road the season after they release would also be pretty bad.
Besides I don't think a mode like Subspace would be possible in the timespan they create everything else, it would take an insane effort to get there
Otherwise, this was a pretty good video, props to you
First 2 points i think you're dead on.
Regarding single player crossover experience stuff there's quite literally Rifts that gave been an on-going story since the game launched
The intent for this game was catered to spending money, not gameplay, or a fun experience. There's nothing that will save this game. It's done.
I love the fresh takes. Not complaining about shields or techs, actual feedback that can lead to more intrigue in the game.
We need a switch port for multiversus and I'd call it: multiversus Duel, like sonic adventure 2 battle
Don’t know if you saw the new into the verse but you are able to choose most of any of the characters in fighters road, with the exception of the newest 3 characters. Now they just have to adjust fighter xp distribution
1:50 wait you can parry? 😂
When it's such a character heavy game it makes no sense to lock characters under such unbelievably stupid greedy system, the game is desperate for people but the people behind it are desperate to find new ways to make money (yeah we need you to be rich too but trying to fuck over the passionate ones is never a great way compared to having 30k people playing the game daily, the second would just make so much more money in every possible way)
And this is a GREAT point, when the casuals are bored the game is dead.
Multiversus, drop Daffy Duck or Ben 10 and my soul is yours!!!!
Daffy Duck not being in has always confused me. Like give me my damn Duck Dodgers skin already
@ They didn’t add him simply to spite me
Unlocking the first character of six thousand points in a couple of days? That is just feral.
At this point, I genuinely don't think the game is going to last until 2026, It's just so disappointing.
I think we're free from worry until like 2027. It's really only going to be red alert when the next Nintendo console is out and they announce Super Smash Bros. ENDGAME lmao
Happy to see man played iron giant more. I see man made it to gold with him
We gon see how they operate things around season 5, if a lot of shit doesn’t change I think it’s over
Tbh the biggest thing they could do is look at marvel rivals and let’s all characters be free only charge for skins and have consistent content events and drop rifts replace wit with an arcade mode
Multiversus biggest problem is the core game mechanics. The game just isn't nearly as fun as it's platform fighter competitors, even at a casual level.
What’s the music used in this video?
I’d be down to join a community tournament for arena too, you got the platform set it up
I don't know what they have to do to bring more players in
"just make a subspace emissary 🤖"
"Oh yeah, let me get the money printer man 💀💀💀"
In this very video I said "obviously budget permitting and I'm not saying this is something anytime soon". In the video. I also said other modes like arenas will suffice.
Like maybe you're just skipping around the video and missing these things cause you can't watch 20 minutes straight but so far you're 0 for 2.
@@BPlusEffortsalright that was a ragebait meme comment when you just posted, but my other point stands
Amazing vid as always brother. You speak facts.
I'm glad you think so! It's tough talking about the game but I try to be as honest as possible. Also Rivals is a go for this weekend if you're down!
@@BPlusEfforts sorry I’m just now seeing this
@@BPlusEfforts we do have to play rivals soon
When it comes to tutorials they should at least put the videos of Nakat explaining the characters in depth in the the game, i don’t see why not considering they’re gonna make the videos for each character anyway, just put em in the game
Appreciate the custom robo tunes we need a remaster or something I’m throwing my money! 😅
Man listen. Day one frame one. I'm in there if we get it. And if we get blessed with online?? Yeaaaaaah.... we can dream.
for me it was the quality of the beta then the jarring 180 full release. I miss the speed and jankyness of the gameplay that is what made it unique and different then the array of smash like platformers. The insane connects you could make with the old system, and the lack of certain features that literally every platform fighter implements simply copying Smash is what made it fun. What killed the game before was a lack of regular meaningful updates and networking, the servers were terrible at the end of the beta.
your take is perfect, i just think the problem is budget.
Essentially id be fine with the comics being integrated as playable in the rifts mode or a new arcade/story mode.
a better story mode would do wonders i think, as unlocking characters could happen there. instead of how it is now, and more game modes too.
In the old multiverses beta they had the knockback influence and separate tutorials seems like the took it out
I forgot this game existed.I've been playing marvel rivals, a game where all of the characters aren't locked and I don't have to worry about inconsistent frame data
Oh
Interesting that you mentioned a Story Mode I think what makes it tough for Multiversus is the question what enemies do they use? do they use Gems from Steven Universe? Fire Kingdom from Adventure time or do they make up original enemies?
Also, another mistake following Super Smash Bros influence, as even Super Smash Bro's itself at least for the first 3 games followed Kirby's influence in terms of Story/Campaign modes which Player First Games should barrow "Kirby" if they make a Campaign mode.
9:00 they already tried that with the cinematics of old events, it costed a lot and nobody cared so what are you tapping about?
That was the best they could have afforded, and it didn't raise the playerbase enough to make it worth it, so they switched to cheaper to make comics (which might still flop)
Not every game can pull a TF2 or OW, especially on a live service fighting game about "already animated" characters.
How is nobody complaining about the elusive skins becoming more common? This is a HUGE issue
two of the main reasons why the game is not doing well is because of Warner going uber idiotic with the progression and unlock for stuff as it seems that is a total executive decision on monetizing the game, that's not the devs fault.
@@BPlusEfforts i know what, i dont even care anymore, i feel numb towards this game, its just sad, so much potential, but yeah im done with this game
(i'll still wont forgive the gold scam)
Dexter is the missing character atm and I have a feeling hes just going to be tossed in as a character you can just buy.
WE WANT AN OPEN WORLD MODE LIKE FORTNITE BUT USE CITY'S OF THE CHARACTERS....LIKE BEN 10 AND BELLWOOD... BATMAN AND GOTHAM CITY .... POWER PUFF GIRL'S AND TOWNSVILLE....AND SO ON
Yeah the story route is impossible because Kevin Conroy passed away, and big story mode without batman is kinda pointless
What happend to the r1 attacks garage
It's not going to die. They are following a mobile game method. It's going to make waay to much money.
I just revisited the roster after 5 monts... Anyone knows where is Ben 10 and the Regular Show characters?
Valorant unlock system would work perfectly fine in MvS tbh
It’s down to its last 1000 lmao
Stop listening to bloggers is what they should do
Thank you for stick to this game even now
The $10 new character early access for just 4 days makes me cringe. Who in the hell thought this was a good idea?
Never been a big fan of it but with the free to play route a lot of games do this. Hell now that I think of it... WBs other project Mortal Kombat does it worse. You have to buy the ENTIRE Kombat Pack ($40-50) and you get the character for not 4 days... but 2 whole weeks before everyone else. Even IF you only care about ONE character in the pack, you'd have to buy all 4.
If MVS did that you'd of had to pre order a pack with Nubia & Smith just to get raven and marceline. And MK has been financially successful for a long time. I guess that's why WB wanted to take that route a second time
Maybe add some characters that people actually want!
Problem is they add anybody and everybody except ben 10 and daffy duck
give creds to Max
Wtf WB.
We can’t do this every seasob
True. But the problems from this video are still problems. The gameplay as well, but thats another addition.
Ngl main combos are boring no character has actual combo routes , especially because of tech. Ranked isn’t hard u get masters for free. Whole game is just empty as a bag of chips.
How you make the game worst than the beta? Trash devs
*stares at overwatch 2*
UNLOCKING CHARACTERS IS ANNOYING THATS LIKE, THE CENTRAL THING ON FIGHTING GAMES YOURE WELCOME
game died because of horrible monetization, ridiculous grind for new characters or 20 dollars, horrible pve needed for progression, lack and then bad comp system, and new characters that were bad picks (nubia). Game also felt like it was targeting kids and that's realistically not the audience you're going to get as a fighting game.
Game had potential but at this point nothing can save it, it's down to less than a thousand concurrent players and that's not enough to sustain a studio like this.
I just stopped playing because I didn't get Lola Bunny in the game.
Attack decay💔
One day the prodigal son will return.
they cooked no matter what tbh
I quit Multiversus for half a year waiting for them to get their head out of the gutter. Came back to check youtube. The exact same titles ''How to save multiversus... multiversus dying... multiversus devs greedy..''
See you guys in half a year. Good luck.
