Hello! I was planning to do my Masters in Nursing Education at Walden University. I live in Canada, and my manager recommended this school. I want to know, is it manageable to work full time while in school? Should I go to part time?
Hi, I have to say it depends on each individual. I was full-time up until 2 semesters ago, working 36 hrs a week and a per diem job. I decided to take it slow for mental reasons. I could go full-time, with a full-time job but I always think of family first, work second (to pay bills), and education third (always going to be available when I'm ready). Try to take two classes from the 5 core classes and see how you like it and if it's manageable. Then go from there. Look up other schools as well, which I'm sure you have. In the next month, I'm releasing more videos about WaldenU to help with your questions which I hope it would help. Good luck, and keep me posted with your decision.
@@RN-PRN Thanks for the advice ladies! I actually ended up going to Athabasca University. It's a certified online university in Alberta, Canada. Next semester I have applied for 2 courses. I will see how it goes, if i need to go aprt-time.
They weren't relayed to youtube videos. The student used TH-cam videos to get a better understanding of the subject matter. The issue with online programs is you're really on your own. They give you things to read and then you write a paper or response.
@@jimduggan8962 not sure if you attend Walden or not, but they do provide videos from youtube for supplemental learning. And of course, you are right as well, students rely on youtube vids too. When I say students, it's general students from all over the country not just from Walden. It is in this day and age that information is everywhere. Nothing is wrong with watching youtube vids to learn. Everyone has their own way of learning. I am both a youtube and a reader.
Hi there, it varies on my workload and personal life. Family comes first for me. I usually study a minimum of at least 5 hours to max of 15 hours a week. I do read/skim through the books every day.
We precept NP students under an intent to hire model. I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news but we don’t consider applicants from Walden or with a Walden degrees either precepting or for open positions. We have seen so many resumes with misspellings and poor grammar after learning that it can all be done online don’t have faith in the training. My wife was looking at NP programs and after all of this and aggressive calls decided against the program. I’m sure there are plenty of excellent qualified graduates but for all outward appearances seems like a program that prints diplomas. Given the volume of resumes and diplomas we have seen, on the other side of the country, I would hate the idea that skilled practitioners would be held back career wise by looking like they have a degree from a diploma mill. I don’t mean to be disparaging, but it’s an honest cold outside view of the program.

@@RN-PRN Thank u for responding. I’m taking the “transforming nursing and healthcare through technology” class. My current grade right now is 76, but that’s only based on the discussion wk 1 and assignment week 2. The professor took points away due to apa citations and my posting my 2 replies on the same day instead of different days. Do u think I still have a chance of passing that class?
@@thewickedwitchofthesouthsi5021 Im sorry to hear that the professor deducted points d/t posting the same day. Its def frustrating and sad to hear that instructors do what they want! Some instructor don’t deduct. Some do. Uggghhh! Also, for your paper you can utilize the writing department to help you with APA citations. Im sure you will get a hang of it. As far as making thru the class, I bet you can. You can always calculate it by points to determine what you need to get in order to pass. I always do it. Maybe I should make a video about it. Anyways, you can estimate too. if you get 84% and above on all your work your 76 can turn into an 80. 😀 Not exact math since I dont have the actual info in front of me. Good luck! you can do this.
@@RN-PRN thank you 🙏🏼. I really appreciate your kind words. I agree the lack of consistency it’s very frustrating. Thank you for you videos and responses! ❤️❤️❤️
70 % is the passing grade where did 80 come from?
I have problems working part time and going to this school. They definitely pile on the homework.
@@RN-PRN Thanks for the advice ladies! I actually ended up going to Athabasca University. It's a certified online university in Alberta, Canada. I am still full time, but because of medical issues I only took one course. It's a lot cheaper then Walden, and instead of nursing education, I was able to take Master of Nursing- Teaching Focused. Next semester I have applied for 2 courses. I will see how it goes, if i need to go aprt-time.
Schools need to be sued for that! What’s the point of paying so much money then relayed on TH-cam videos???
Very well said. They are slowly providing videos now.
@@RN-PRN I thought about it but saw so many negative reviews and red flags that scared me off.
How many hours per week you study?
Liar 😂
You are literally just jealous, stop with the hate and misinformation
wow.
@@Ultrasloth840 that’s exactly what I said about what you wrote, get of your high horse of misinformation, chump.
Scam
Let us know please who twisted your arm and forced you to attend Walden??? Who also forced you to take the financial burden???
Why are you on her page?? the school is accredited so had to meet minimum standard’s required
Rule of thumb it's never good to talk down on any institution or talk down on anything because you are what you say and people really don't know who you are and what legit research you've done and I have always learned never to talk about any institution in the negative way because it might come back to haunt you. I went to another institution that was supposedly accredited and all that and what you're saying is very hateful and bullying an institution where you probably failed and you're going down on the school and it's not the school it's you cuz you put in the time. And I don't know who you are so I wouldn't want to follow you because I don't talk down on anybody or anything because I've learned a rule-of-thumb you never bite anyone has played a part in your life and a lot of times you have to come back and check yourself out because it may not be the school and maybe you
Hi, Blanca. Im not sure about where you are getting your information. Im sorry that you feel the way you feel about this video and my other videos. Clearly you have some underlying hatred towards me because based on your comment in this video and to my other videos, your comment is pure emotion and accusations. You just did what you exactly pretend you are not - talk down on someone. This channel is based on my experience, past, present, and future. I give my 100% transparency. Im not sure about researching or science or other things you have mentioned. Mental Health is real, kindness is happiness. Trolling is a form of bullying, practice what you preach. Good luck with your endeavors. 💙
