I chose FNP over Psych because I wanted to be able to work in many areas of medicine so for me I chose a local school in my state that has an all online program and they place you in clinical. I avoided schools like chamberlain and Walden because there were too many of these same complaints and I think for the money we are having to pay for these programs you expect more for the money but these two schools are large online schools so at any given time who knows how many students they have doing the same program. My school follows the traditional 12 weeks terms and also limits the seating in each program plus they ask for a $300 fee to hold your seat once in so if your truly committed you will pay the fee, I was suppose to start in January but i coauthor covid in December and didn’t feel right to start so I’m starting next month and I’m very excited

Great points on the online program. I looked into a few schools around my area but unfortunately, the demand of being physically in school, zoom meetings, and others made me decide I would have to go to Walden just because it fits perfectly with my family and work life. My job is also affiliated with them, so I got 25% off from tuition and the reimbursement - I can't pass that up financially. The great thing about it is that every situation is different, I told my hubby, if I didn't have kids and I'm a young buck (lol), I'd totally go for my DNP! Im super excited for you starting next month - keep me updated. Are you thinking of documenting your adventures to share? xoxo

The squeaky wheel gets the greese. Voice your concerns early and often until your concerns are met. Rule of thumb…give 3 business days to get a response. If no response, email/call them back again…then go to someone higher up. Rinse and repeat till you get the resolution.

Chamberlain is exactly the same. I do recommend anyone try their NP programs.

So sorry...I’m also at Walden University. I don’t like the fact that I can’t choose my own professor. One semester I tried changing a professor, my advisor couldn’t even find the professor smh. Very frustrating .

Feeling your pain. They certainly have their moments. I can't wait to graduate. What class are you taking now?

Considering Wilkes university, what do you think?

I just looked.... do you think they really place you for clinicals? Also, I wonder if it's 100% online. Some university would want you to travel and that's too extra for me. What other schools are you looking into?

Do you know has this changed in the grad program? I’m in the RN-BSN AIM tempo program and have an academic consultant that is available to me. I hope this will continue into the grad program.

Tell me about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to take a breather this summer and for the fall semester. I needed to recoup my brain and also spend time with family. Practicum with didactic together is so much work.

Ladies I was enrolled for one week and withdrew!!! It was too much going on, their blackboard system is too cumbersome and I don’t think it’s conducive for working nurses. Walden can go to hell.

    • @RN-PRN

I def agree! Their class is NOT geared to working nurses. I had mentioned this if a few of my videos.

I thought it was me. Keep in mind I have a masters in nursing education and enrolled in their post masters cohort. No ma’am, withdrew immediately.

Walden University has this hate and love relationship. I'm beginning to grow to love it more tho. Are you from a different university?
