- In this video, we'll talk about two different types of airplanes: the Do 228 from India and the N 219 from Indonesia.
Dornier-228
The HAL Dornier 228 is a twin-turboprop utility aircraft that was created by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence firm, in collaboration with Dornier Flugzeugwerke, a German aircraft manufacturer.
The Dornier 228 is a versatile aircraft that can perform a number of tasks, such as passenger transport, transporting cargo, and conducting maritime surveillance. To support these diverse missions, it is outfitted with a variety of equipment and sensors, including a radar, a searchlight, and a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera.
N219
The Indonesian N219 is a regional turboprop aircraft being developed by Indonesian aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI). It is intended to replace Indonesian airlines' outdated fleet of Fokker 27 and Fokker 28 aircraft. The N219 has a ferry range of around 1,533 kilometres and it has a seating capacity of around 19 to 21 passengers.

I am an outsider, neither Indian nor Indonesian. Assuming that both aircrafts are built to its specifications, the Indian Dornier DO 228, 19 seaters looks more attractive to me from engineering/design point of view. I like the design/arrangement of the landing gear, looks very stable. The long and spacious compartment at the nose can be used to install sonar equipment to detect submarine. 5 blades propellers are more stable than 4 blades one in case 1 blade get warped or loose. Longer range is also a big bonus as well.
DO 228 is good at multipurpose one step ahead than N219🙂 indian aircarft is still under use while N219 is only prototype . conversation end at this point 😅
Indian products licensed from germany, otherwise indonesian products are original with advanced technology and not licensed....so N219 is the best product.

The N-219 was developed from the CASA C-212 Aviocar and, like that design, is also of all metal construction. This aircraft is claimed to have the largest cabin volume in its class (6.50 x 1.82 x 1.70m).[17] A flexible door system to enable versatile missions to transport passengers and cargo. The aircraft is designed to comply with FAR 23 (commuter category aircraft). This company has won the trust of Spain and Germany to manufacture the Casa 212 aircraft under license from Construcciones Aeronuticas SA.

The latest news says that 11 units of N219 have been ordered by a private logistics company with a contract value of $80 million. The N219 is also planned to become an amphibious aircraft which is planned to start its first flight in 2026. I hope that the N219 will be mass produced for all regions in Indonesia as interconnectivities considering that Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world.

@@danielrauf4094 That is not true. The N219 was developed from the NC212i light transport aircraft from CASA (Spain) now known as Airbus. It should be noted that PT DI (Indonesian aerospace industry) has long been in partnership with Airbus. In 1970 IPTN (now PT DI) collaborated with CASA (now Airbus) to develop the CN235 medium transport aircraft. This aircraft has produced 354 units and is still being produced at PT DI. This aircraft has been operated by more than 35 countries in the world where 59 CN235 aircraft are operated by Turkey. Turkey itself has invited Indonesia to cooperate in further developing CN235. But I don't know how the program will continue. So compared to Turkey, Indonesia has more experience working with Spain in the development of aircraft.

@@danielrauf4094 That is not true. The N219 was developed through the collaboration of PT DI and Lapan (Indonesian aviation and space agency) from the NC212i (CASA) aircraft. Regarding the N245 and R80, as far as I can remember, the latest news said that the project was canceled from Indonesia's strategic project. So if you mean cooperation between PT DI and the Turkish aerospace industry, maybe it is related to the manufacture of the N219 simulator. PTDI and Hava Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (HAVELSAN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the simulator for the N219 aircraft in 2021. But this is related to the simulator of the N219, not the N219 aircraft.

N219 can be multirole since PTDI have experiences build CN235 for civillian and military purpose including maritime patrol airplane. And now PTDI is manufacturing production units for the first customer.

Seharusnya bandingkan dengan pesawat tempur Tejas yang asli buatan India dan mereka juga sedang mengembangkan pesawat tempur generasi kelimanya bernama proyek HAL AMCA.
India juga bisa bikin roket untuk ke luar angkasa bahkan mempunyai program luar angkasa untuk ke bulan.

Both are good for transport less pricey than most safety has to be looked at.

DO 228 is better than N219 as it is proven platform with better range, much better cruise speed(413kmph), higher service ceiling(7600meter+), highly reliable, rugged platform and comes with 5 blade propeller engine which is considered efficient and quiter than 4 blade engine of N219...

Also we are developing RTA70 aircraft which is 70 sitter aircraft.

As a business man my feeling is, there are too low production numbers for two very similar airplanes. Wouldn‘t it have been better to customise the indian plane and double production by lower price?
Similiar aircraft type however, the max range is significant
N219 Indonesia is a good shape design than Indian one.
