How to Change Overcast Photos into Awesome in Photoshop - Add Sunset to Boring Sky Easily & Quickly

- In this photoshop photo manipulation tutorial, learn how you can use the multiply mode to change the sky. I will show you a tips and tricks to make it blend natural even more!

How to add beautiful color sky to moody photos in photoshop.

Select a photo which has lot of grey, neutral and white colors.

And select any sky background image of your choice.

We don't need the water area, so take crop tool and exclude the water from background.

Now take move tool, click and drag the sky image on to working document.

Position sky layer exactly at the horizon.

Now duplicate sky layer and flip it vertically.

Place it as shown, so it becomes a mirror image to the sky.

Now we apply blur to reflection to make it realistic.

Go to filter and select gaussian blur.

Adjust blur radius to your preference.

Similarly add motion blur to the reflecion.

Group both layers.

Hide the group.

Select background image and go to channels.

Hold CTRL key and click on red channel thumbnail to select whites in the image.

Now go back to layers panel and turn on the group.

Hold ALT or OPT key and click on mask thumbnail to view.

We need to boost whites and blacks in the mask.

Go to adjustments, select curves and adjust tone curve as follows.

Take black brush & Mask out areas of your image that you want to minimize effect.

Now adjust overall tonal range with Curves adjustment.

Now apply color lookup 3D LUT to color tone your image.

It is a good one of a kind product for learning professional photo editing without the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got excellent results with it.

You would need to add some displacement to reflections on the water to get more realistic result.
This was a great tutorial so good job for that. I do personally prefer the unedited version and the only thing I would change in the after is to soften that sharp cloud line on the left side of the image.

It's good but it looks as though there is a shadow of the person directly behind them, but the light source is coming in from the right...
I believe that is a reflection in the water on the pier, on a overcast day like the original the shadows will be diffuse.

I'm trying to do this with a photo but when I use the move tool to click and drag the sky image into my original image it makes the sky photo super small and I can't figure out how to make it bigger. Does anyone know how to fix this so my sky is the same size as the sky in my original??
