- Today photoshop tutorial, we'll enhance your photos by adding intricate details. This technique works wonders for architectural shots and portraits, giving a grungy look.
Here's how:
1. Duplicate your image layer twice (Command-J on Mac or Ctrl-J on PC).
2. Select the top layer, change the blend mode to Vivid Light.
3. Invert the image: Image - Adjustments - Invert.
4. Convert the layer to a smart object: Filter - Convert for Smart Filters.
5. Select both duplicate layers, group them (Layer - New - Group from Layers), and set the Mode to Overlay.
To further refine, expand the group in the Layers panel:
1. Click the top layer and apply Surface Blur (Filter - Blur - Surface Blur).
2. Adjust Radius for detail and Threshold to control halos.
3. Duplicate the group for a grungier look (right-click and select 'Duplicate Group').
4. Optional: Add a cinematic look using Color LUTs.
Experiment and adjust settings for the best results. That's it! Try it out and watch your images transform. Thanks for watching, please subscribe, like, share, and comment. Stay tuned for more tips and tutorials. Happy editing!

OK, Eshwar, you've done it again with another great video and technique! I made this into an action in order to apply it quickly and consistently.
Fantastic!
Excellent tutorial once again. Thank you.
That was really smart (i admired the "invert" order!). Would be nice if we have it on an action as you have done to other previous tutorials. Better as a new layer, so we can modify the opacity.
Thank you very much, best regards from Greece! ❤
