Its just sad that he never had a sort of, Final Farewell. Apparently In the Novelisation of Frontier in Space, after the Doctor and Jo had escaped, he goes back to the control area, sees the place in a mess and says. "Oh well........ There's always Tomorrow....." Presumably followed by a chuckle to himself and some end credits.
