    Claiming my 2024 Freedom bike is capable of 40mph is nice. But the Real reason I chose this bike is for ALL the other Reasons. Power to kill any hill on the street, Smooth full suspension Comfort, Nice upright riding position. And a good size 60v 20ah Battery for possibly some kind if range. And it's available is bitchin Blue! ( thank god because the black looks a little to plain Jane for me) AND it's a SMOKEN deal for a little over $2000.!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on all these highly Questionable claims. PS I joined the same Facebook page also.

    Everyone advertises the Wired bike as a "40"mph bike but the fact is you really have to try to get to 40. The vast majority of the time I end up cruising at 25mph when I ride that bike and honestly that is fast enough for most situations.

      Yeah the Wired Freedom on flat to slightly downhill is capable of 40+ with rider peddle assistance with average weight rider. But thats only for brief moments and can't be sustained. I got mine up to 44 mph for about 10 seconds on very slight downhill road. But on completely flat road with throttle only i can cruise around 36 mph.

    Top Speed is irrelevant. It doesn't matter in the long run. Whats important is RELIABILITY, and trustworthyness. Will it be running after 1000 miles (Odo), 50000, 10000? Most of these Xi-Nese p.o.s,'s, I doubt it. Most, like my Ariel Rider Grizzly X-2, will be in the landfill. By messing with the settings to enable a near 40mph top you increase the chances of toasting your controller, wires, batteries., or motors. These things are untested and unregulated. These companies pop-up via some Xinese megacity, sell some bikes, and disappear. Good luck getting someone here to work on it. Its YOUR problem once the card funds clear. I want to see a poll of E-bike owners where their bikes ODO's are the competition. Who has the most mls/kms on theirs w/o breakdowns? Mine didn't hit 800 mls before a major breakdown, controller short, then fire, while riding.,and has spent the last 3 months dead with sporadic customer No-Service emails. I should've bought a motorscooter from Japan. They don't breakdown.

      Agreed that reliability is important and we all value different things. That could be a whole video on it's own. I totally accept the fact that I am running this system to it's absolute limit, maybe even more, and I might pay for that. I've done that with every computer I've ever owned as well, overlocking it to the limit. I think something is wrong with me.

      True. I’ve been running mine since last summer - 6/2022 - and have had little trouble. Only matter is needing to discharge the battery slightly if I charge 100% so the bike will turn on.

      A 300lb rider and a 90lb rider is a difference of about 3mph on my Grizzly, and increasing the rolling resistance with tire pressure and tire types can drop another 3 to 6mph. They're massive differences, not slight at all and the guy tried to just discount what you said out of hand then brings up gravity... 😆🤣 too funny. • @ravenrock541
    @ravenrock541 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Top speed is just a glory number. Im more concerned with range. A good test would be range at a set mph. More importantly, I'd be most interested in a test using three progressively higher set speeds to be able to ascertain the range drop.
    I know manufacturers proclaim a max range but is it accurate? Was the test performed on a 30 degree grade down hill, while holding a kite? Or did they establish max range while peddling their ass off but holding a 3 mph top speed? Was their test rider a 65lb horse jockey?

    • @maximumchargeEV
      @maximumchargeEV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah the manufacturers definitely pad their range numbers for sure. I think we could probably infer that the more Watt hours (Amp hours x volts) a battery is the more range, and just ignore what the manufacturers claim. But 1000 Watt hours should give you about 15-20 miles of full speed throttle only, and 50-60 miles of very slow pedal assist 1

    A very well detailed explanation of how ebikes work. Here is the thing though if you watch the right people on youtube you will see how manufacturers advertise there bikes as going 28+ MPH. That is how they will ship them legally but once you get it you find out how to unlock it to go faster. So a company says 28+ and you see someone on your same bike going 40mph the company can't advertise beyond that speed if it is shipping to a place that has speed limits before it has to get registered. I mean I think and I might be wrong but in the UK I think it's 15MPH anything over it has to get registered.

    Volts and amps largely limit speed. For sure!
    Certainly wind resistance!
    On a good day, on a flat road I can get my 48v 24A 20” bike up to 55km/h whilst pedalling too (upgraded to 56t, 11t)
    I long ago realised that the speed achieved would be slightly more than the voltage. The torque relates more directly to Amps..
    If I had a 72v system I’m confident with pedalling and the right gearing I could go faster than 70km/h, yet the wind resistance and my weight would likely affect that top speed….
    I don’t think that’s a healthy speed for an electric bike… torque however! Now THAT I do want! Hmmmmmmm more AMPS is hard because of wiring restrictions

      @@ahaelectric78a fully charged 48 volt battery sits at 54 volts, on the display on my e-bike I changed it to 52 volts from 48v. That's just concerning the first bar of five. It did change my bike regarding the torque, it takes off harder and it shows.
      When I looked at it stock the fifth charging bar was at 49.5v so I put it at 51.5v, I've got more torque and it stays on the first charging bar for a long time. Okay so I have heard that a 48volt BBSHD mid-drive is capable of reaching up to 38 MPH, or are we only talking about hub drives? Just saying. Also when coasting downhill with no pedaling and no throttle you can go a lot faster than you might think. Hitting speeds in the 50s is not uncommon. So yeah speed testing is totally subjective.

    • @maximumchargeEV
      @maximumchargeEV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I'm not sure about that claim, but I'll actually be finding out since I will soon build bbs02 48v. When people think top speed, they usually want to know what the machine can do on flat ground, unassisted by heavy pedaling, wind, and gravity. We can just throw an ebike rider off a cliff and say this bike can go 120mph

    • @ThisViddy
      @ThisViddy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maximumchargeEV Have you tested a mid-drive eBike with a BBSHD? They have 160nm of torque on a 48 volt system that max out at 1500watts. Then you have the gears to think about, hub drives only have whatever gearing is available to them internally. Mid-drive make full use of your derailure. Really Hub driven bikes versus Mid driven bikes are completely different animals. I say this because I am not a TH-camr and I have been riding both since 2019. I love the immediate torque of a hub drive, but my mid-drive has higher top end and when using the gears properly can climb even very steep hills easily. Why is it that cheap Hub drives are so popular? A mid-drive motor will run about 800 dollars where most hub drives only cost about 200 dollars.

    • @ThisViddy
      @ThisViddy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maximumchargeEV I was agreeing with you about testing being subjective. I see some hub drive bias creeping into your tests. Both hub drives and mid drives have their use cases. Hub-drives are great for a quick commute. When I want to take an eBike out on the ATV trails, I prefer the mid-drive for control, range and climbing. Throttle only on a mid-drive kind of defeats the purpose.
