Now this man has taste. Not just with arcade upgrades, but with posters too. Am I the only one who noticed the infamous Farrah Fawcett poster in the background?!
Thanks so much for making these videos- looking forward to seeing how you make the bezel, how you source the tempered glass and the final product in action
Arcade School I did try! When I went to test the tv out I didn’t realize the pcb with the power button was touching a piece of metal and it shorted out the tv and destroyed it! Science!
Thanks, This helps me with the install. PS: A better way to do the bezel is to install the clear plexi then use painters tape to block out the Monitor area (Just the borders) Then turn it around and completely tape up area inside borders you made up to edge of borders then use black(Or any color you like) spray paint to paint the bezel area then reinstall with painted area towards monitor then you will a pro looking bezel as if the Plexi you bought was made for it. But Still do the black tape step that you did as that will help black out in case of gaps.
I ultimately ended up going with tempered glass, and made a bezel out of black poster board (actually I bought white poster board because it was quite a bit cheaper than black, and spray painted it with satin black paint). This way I could apply vinyl graphics to the poster board instead of on the glass, and it was easier than painting the glass. You can also easily change the bezel out later if you want without replacing the whole glass, or if let's say your 20" monitor dies and you need to go back to the 17", you can reuse the same glass and just make another bezel to fit. The other upside to the glass is that it has a much smoother look; it doesn't bend or warp like plexi, and it doesn't scratch nearly as easily. The only downside is that it costs about twice as much as a piece of plexi of the same size if you go tempered. Normal window glass might be about the same price as plexi, but tempered is much safer if it happens to get broken somehow.
Thanks man, that really means a lot! Some things have changed temporarily in my situation due to coronavirus, just like with everyone else in the world at the moment (my family and I are all healthy thankfully), but rest assured I will come back as soon as I can and try my best to be better than ever at making content like this! I appreciate everyone's patience, and apologize for the lack of content over the past couple months.
Just a suggestion for anyone else making one following this guide. If you use the same materials to mount the screen. Line up the metal to use the stock mounting on the back of the screen, then stretch tight the metal to mount to the wood.. either that or make a piece of wood stretch across the back to the sides of the arcade1up
There are a few different 20" 4:3 ratio monitors out there. I don't have a list of them on hand though, and I only have experience with the Dell 2007 FP models, so I'm not 100% certain that any 4:3 20" will work (it depends on how much bezel is surrounding the panel itself one de-cased).
I don't have one YET, but I will very soon, because there's another project that's already been started that's getting one of these. Everything is already done on it except for the bezel and assembling it, so expect that to be coming very soon. Unfortunately with the other games I have that are equipped with the 20" monitor, I didn't film the making of the bezel.
Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/n_FbFGK9gHE/w-d-xo.html -- you can't see the duct tape at all, because I make the bezels for them custom. The duct tape is only there to keep the monitor from falling forward out of the panel before it's installed in the cab. Thanks for watching!

Love the video man. Gives me the confidence to pull off my own mods. Built a riser tonight! Going to try a monitor swap tomorrow!
Did you do the swap? How'd it go? Glad you were inspired, means a lot to me!

GREAT MOD ! GREAT STEP BY STEP ! LOVE THE WORKSHOP !
Thank you!
Good job Nate and Chris

waiting on a bezel video X) best vid on how to do the cuts
Thanks!
Great video!
Does the monitor always have to be this particular type or could you possibly go with any 20 inch monitor

Do you have a video of putting the plexiglass on the monitor with the bezel. And actually installing it in the 1up

awesome vid ! chris by the way do you think that factory monitor is garbage?
Might be better to 3d print new mounts to hold it in place
Will a Dell 2072a 20" monitor work with this arcade 1up mod?
I would simply use metal clips around monitor instead of those metal straps
Thats funny ..Your son found out via your youtube channel..
What type of strapping is that!
This is just standard tin hanging strap.
What are those metal straps called?
Hi Sharey, thanks for watching! It's called hanging strap.
I installed a 32inc flat screen t.v on my arcade 1up if you're tired of playing you can watch t.v
Nice- I installed a Vizio 40".
How did that fit ?
what model tv did you use?
Dell 2007FPb
Not a big fan of duck tape, also would like to see the final results...
