Wait a second, don't you understand the point of 'standby'? Like really? These monitors, like their sub equivalent, go into standby when not being used and have a white led when in that mode. The back of the speaker gets room temp because it is only pulling enough current to keep the LED on and a small current to check for an input audio signal so they know when to turn on. Your analysis here on that topic doesn't make sense. They work perfectly fine in that way. I don't know how many mA they pull to keep them in standby mode, but rest assured, it is literally milliamps. Presonous implemented it very well and works great. Just because you see an LED on, you don't like it? Crazy bro. I think, in this case, the technology out smarted YOU. 😂. For budget studio monitors that are actually only $300 for a pair right now, they are fantastic. And the standby mode is hardly an issue. Their only issue might be more like that last 5% of true flat response you would get by paying 5x as much money. See, budget studio monitors get so close these days that all your getting by spending say $1500 for a pair is, well a different sound, because all studio monitors are going to sound different and that is purely subjective, but you get that slight last bit of accuracy based on build quality and component tolerance. But man, the amount of money you have to spend to get such a little difference is amazing. It really is a diminishing return situation. It's really more about how they sound to your ears as a subjective matter than it is that something 5x as expensive is 'better'. Can you mix hit songs on these, absolutely 100% without a doubt. Can you mix hit records on a pair of studio monitors that cost $2000 to $3,000? Absolutely 100% without a doubt. Will you have an easier time using the $3,000 pair of studio monitors? No not necessarily. Studio monitors are about learning what they sound like. Mixing is about learning what audio sounds like to you in the real world and then being able to translate that from a studio monitor during your mixing phase. Everyone does this slightly different, everyone uses slightly different studio monitors and in that process it truly is subjective and it is a skill, and art. These PreSonus Eris 5s are really solid budget studio monitors and they get a lot of work done in a lot of great ways, so much so that most of the people that are actually interested in buying these monitors wouldn't know a difference if they spent upwards of $3,000. 😊 What ever studio monitor(s) you pick it's FAR more about learning them AND learning what you want them to sound like out in the real world then it is whether these studio monitors are 'good enough' for you, which in the VAST majority of cases, of the people targeting a $300 pair of studio monitors, they are.
I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker today... saw the prices for comparatively terrible sounding speakers were INSANELY expensive for what they were. I'm just going to buy some BT studio monitors.
Don't sweat the amp heat. These are class ab amps. They make heat as a result of the topology of the design. You don't have that with class d amps, but many prefer the sound of ab over d class. I have a pair of the E7 XT, and love them for a low priced mixing tool.
@@thozimusicbro I need an advice I have a very small studio in a big room with a little bit of treatment. Do Krk have more bass then the presonus?
Great video! I am looking for speakers to listen to music and watch movies in my room. I almost bought the Edifier S2000MKIII, but then I found those speakers. I am wondering how the PreSonus 8 speakers would work, not for music production, but just for music listening.
Hecks naw. I just left Guitar Center and this was the best sounding mids out of 13 sets of monitors ranging from 4's to 8's. The 5's in these monitors even sounded way better than it's bigger 8" version. Litterally blew my mind, I didn't expect these to sound so good and the stereo detail popped out really well to.
Hi, thanks for the video. Very good review. I have a question, I am a drummer and I want to buy monitors for open music and practise with my students. Are these monitors gonna enough for me or should I think 8'' monitors? Thank you so much.

I have a small studio i mean small a walk in closet I’ll be using. Didn’t wanna use a whole room for that. But are these worth it ? And what do I use for them to stand up
like how small of a closet? a nice walkin closet size or like a prayer closet size? can maby mount them to the wall and point them down? (note need to have them out the wall a bit to avoid sound bounce, so think like a flatscreen tv mounted to wall with a foot behind it) the louder you use them the further will need form the wall. but since your in a small closet id assume 1ft should be plenty. ,ine are like 8 inches from wall tho only real mixing i do is ambient sounds for my fallout nv mod at this moment.

@@dost328 I bought myself these monitors but haven't hooked them up yet, I can post after hooking them up how they behave. But in general, as I understand it is a feature of all monitors using classical circuitry on AB class amplifiers. Unlike class D amplifiers (used in YAMAHA HS5, JBL 305 MKII), current through them runs constantly, even when they do not play music. Efficiency is lower than class D and heating is much higher, all of which you have to pay for good sound. I've also heard it said that it's easier to get good sound with class AB than with class D in an unprepared room and the signal delay is also less because class D uses a digital converter which creates additional delay. This is not important for music playback, but if you play the keyboard and listen to the sound at once, it can be uncomfortable. With this information in mind, I decided before I bought the speakers that I would simply turn them off with the switch on the back when not in use to keep them warm.
I have the 3.5s with the sub and very satisfied. Looking into getting bigger monitors but sticking with the same brand. Debating the 4.5s or this. Hmmmm
