      @@delontachristian8125 I know you asked James, but I looked into doing the same thing and from what I can find is you can do it with OBD1 ECUs by removing 2 resistors but not OBD2. There are tons of manual ECUs on Ebay, I picked one up last week and hope to do the swap myself real soon

    Picked up a automatic 98ek a couple months ago (d16y7). In the process of getting my head around everything I'll need to do a manual swap on it, and then picking up all the pieces little by little. Atm most I've done is doing a deep clean on the interior and putting some new wheels on it so I can enjoy it in the meantime while I pick up the parts. Thinking I'll pick up a second D series engine to put in so I can clean it up and do all the seals and head gasket while its out to make sure it is all good.

    hey there, I watched this whole video. I'm appreciative for the tutorial on if i was to do this myself on my 2000 civic lx. Right now i'm completely broke, i bought the car from someone who didn't tell my it was having transmission issues. i havent yet changed the transmission fluid filter. it hesitates shifting 3rd to 4th and also on a side not the gear shifter is hard to shift progressively and sometimes it feels almost normal then goes back to being too hard moving from park to reverse. all the gears work and its a decent car but i dont want it to suddenly crap out it would be a waste. so theres almost 200k on it now. i think swapping it to manual would be far better instead of just getting another automatic transmission for it...

    Bro! This video was amazing! I’m new to the car life lol. I just got a 99 Honda Civic DX hatchback. I want to do a swap as well. Is there anyway you could put up a list of all the parts you needed? I know you went over everything and the video was very detailed. I just want to make sure I have all I need before I even attempt this lol

    What’s up, this video was very informative. I have a 93” 4.0L 6 inline grand cherokee that I got for free that’s an automatic trans. So basically to do a swap i just gotta drop the auto trans and replace with the manual trans? Plus everything else going on in the video

    • @TexasHondaChannel
      @TexasHondaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deedra Fabella As for anything other than a Honda I have no idea but the same concept should apply to anything. As long as the holes are for the manual parts are there it should work.

    Ok so I have everything put back together. Everything is d16y8. I wired the iacv and the reverse lights. But I thought it could start even if I have auto ecu? And one more thing the wire connections to the shifting solenoids are empty now.

    • @TexasHondaChannel
      @TexasHondaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SAVAGE WARRIORZZ there is no shift solenoids on a manual transmission. You shift it with the shifter and you can run it on the auto ecu I was but it didn’t run the best. I left a few things out I’m sorry about that I just had to edit 3 videos on this day and I have no help with these it’s just me doing all the recording editing and work so I get a bit overwhelmed some times.

      Did you jump the park/neutral saggy switch when you pulled the shifter? If it’s unhooked it won’t crank and usually when d4 flashes it means it detects a tranny issue

      Matthw Dehoyos You can run the 2 wires from the clutch pedal to the 2 big wires at that connector in the center console area. It don’t matter which wire goes to which as long as both of them are connected to them 2 wires. Hope that helps

    I have a question just like everyone else..
    98 honda hatch, d16y7 that I'm swapping to a manual and also swapping the intake. Does the the iacv 3 to 2 wire prevent me from having to block of the IACV? Also can I still use the y8 TB? Ive been all over google for weeks.

I don't have my reverse lights wired in but I ran the two thicker wires together as well as the two wires to have my key come out. Like the video man 👍, At the moment, I've just finished doing a conversation myself with the help of your guide but for some reason, my civic is idling at like 100 rpm. I'm just wondering what might be the cause. I made sure to properly convert the 3 point wire to a 2 and have it connected to the iac valve. What might be other thing to look out for, for the idle issue I might be having?

    • @TexasHondaChannel
      @TexasHondaChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yonatan Cervantes Maybe see if your 2 wires are backwards on the air idle control valve. There is another step I failed to mention in the video but if you go to google and type in the search “96-00 civic auto to manual swap wiring ” click on the images and find the images of the ecu connector and verify you did that stuff. Sorry I failed to put that info in there :/
