I live in Min Buri myself and l can confirm that people in Min Buri (and Northern Bangkok) are more than pleased that the nuisance of the construction works of both the Pink and Orange line (soon) has come to an end. Now we are just super excited having a transit station around the corner with first class connections to the rest of Bangkok. I share your passion for projects like this Jeroen.
In 2026 as the bid has yet to be tendered. The civil construction is finished. Bid tender to find operator to purchase train and run the system will take time due to legal dispute.
Bangkok is becoming easier and easier to get around. The city is becoming more and more modern. As someone who has known Bangkok since 2000 (two or three times a year except during the Covid period), I have seen the city transform at an incredible speed.
As a native Bangkoker, the fare is rasing at an incredible (shocking)speed as well. Since they didn't plan it well enough. So we need to pay the system entrance fee every single time for every single metro line. It's 2023, Bangkok still does not have a metro card that can be used for every line.
@@Js136ThaiI agree. Although their fares are straightforward (according to distance), it’s pretty much expensive. From my hometown into the centre costs me more than 100 ฿ one-way.
As of November 2023, Bangkok has 10 mass transit lines with 190 stations and a combined length of 276.84 kilometres which is only 50% of the (1st-phase) Master Plan realised but already makes the network the most extensive in all of South East Asia. Keep sashaying ahead, Queen!
Nonthaburi Province is a province adjacent to Bangkok. The MRT Pink Line connects these two provinces together. In the future, the MRT BTS Monorail network will spread from Bangkok to many nearby provinces.
The video is cool and it's astonishing to see how transportation in Bangkok has transformed since the mid-80s when I first arrived in Thailand, and coming back ever since .

I would expect the concrete rail to be silky smooth. Looking forward to catching you at the next meet up - first Saturday of the month - Soi 11.
Excellent news for Bangkok, more metro lines for a fully integrated transport network in Bangkok, another line open will remove traffic congestion, another sign of Asia is rapidly progressing with infrastructure maturation and sustainability ❤️✌️🇬🇧
Thanks Jeroen! It was great to travel with you on this new line. North of Bangkok is not the place I travel to the most, but maybe one day I'll have to board one of these new monorails..
I wasn't able to try pink line in its first public trial run today, but I'll be sure to use this line to Motor Expo 2023 at Impact Challenger by the end of this month. Still have to take another short taxi ride to the Challenger Hall as the extension line to Impact Muang Thong Thani is still under construction but it's a lot cheaper this way compared to a Taxi ride from my house with expressway fee and traffic jams. This will also made a trip to Safari World a lot easier as well as the line passes right in front of Fashion Island mall so from that point on, you're only 15-minute ride away from this theme park zoo. Pretty useful line if you like jumping around few shopping malls and don't want to use cars.
From the station, it's only 2 km to Challenger Hall. I used to walk and it took only 15 minutes. With such a short distance, why not hire local bike rider of use Grab Bike, cheaper than taxi.
@@kamolhengkiatisak1527 Or I can walk as long as it's not too hot or humid which around this time of the year it's tempting to try. I did walk last time I was at Challenger in April and all the way to Central Cheang Wattana, it was hellish.

It appears that their map labels are wrong? Shouldn't Si Rat and Muang Thong Thani be switched? All the maps on the internet say so and show the future extension going to Impact leaving from Si Rat??? Confused. Which is best to get off for Impact now?
The label on station is corrected one. While construction they initially naming the station with train connections to Impact Arena as "Si Rat" and the station near the tollway as "Muang Thong Thani." However, to avoid confusion, they decided to name the station with train service to Impact Arena as "Muang Thong Thani Station" and the other as "Si Rat." As of now, the train service to Impact Arena is still under construction. If you intend to reach there, it is recommended to disembark at Si Rat, as the route to Impact Arena is more straightforward. Additionally, there are songtaews and motorbike taxis available for transportation to the arena from Si Rat station. Once the link to Impact Arena is completed (End of 2024), get off at Muang Thong Thani Station and use shuttle train service to reach Impact Arena. Hope to clear things up.
I enjoy all your videos but especially the train rides. Hope I can get out there myself and give the monorails a try, never experienced them in my life. I really enjoyed the BTS and MRT last time I'm there. Cheers.
