I’m having trouble finding a trans dipstick for an 2009 3.5 AWD. I figured that shouldn’t really mean anything, but the folks at AZ and Oreileys said differently. But then again they’re the same people that tried to sale me an engine oil dipstick for the trans.
What is the length of the gauge? I want to order it and I found many types and I do not know what fits the Dodge Charger 3.5 2010 4-speed gearbox. I hope you can help me. Thank you.
THANK YOU!!! that was very informative .. I have (yep, a woman) have a 2010 Charger and my son took a look at it for me the other day and we couldn't find the dipstick cap. This will work.. I appreciate it very much..! :)
Mine sounds just like this I have an 2008 It just started over an month ago now today when I try to reverse it acts as if wants to get Stuck and make a popping noise… thanks for the video hopefully I can go out and check to see if I need any
So at what mark on the dipstick should the oil be at? Cold and hot. I have the same car! I couldn’t hear much with the car on🥲 I tried googling it but no answer.
Thanks for the info. I read a ton of comments and your replies to them answered many questions I had. I got a question that will probably answer itself when i climb under the car at some point. When you change the fluid is there any kind of drain plug or Do you remove the pan? Also is there a transmission filter that i can replace (if so is external or inside the pan like most designs)?
@@outsidewithjeff I watched a video on it. It's a basic pan pull with the filter just inside the pan. Filter is held in place with a single bolt. Just like majority of rwd transmissions ever made.
So I have a 2008 dodge charger sxt 3.5L V6 and I have the same lifter tick, you think I should leave it asking as I maintain the vehicle or fix it asap?
I’m up to 200,413 miles as of this evening and I’m leaving my tick alone. Just be sure to keep up with oil changes and I try to check my oil every 1,000 miles so I know everything’s getting lubricated like it should be.
Do you only add oil to the vehicle or do you have transmission fluid changed? I’m sorry for so many questions lol I just don’t want to spend so much money for no reason knowing corrupt businesses these days
I got the dip stick from Amazon and I've had it for a few yrs now and yes u leave it in just like the old cars..do u leave it in park or does it need to be in drive while checking fluid..I've been cking both ways and both seem to work ..but doesn't hurt to ask..lifter noise is common...but that seems like alotta noise maybe it's just the video
These is no codes at all jus got back into the car it was completely fine I’m so confused before it wasn’t even going past 35-40 and wouldn’t shift to 3rd now it’s doing just fine so i know it’s not the trans something happened with the computer????
I'm just sceptical because I've heard some horror stories about this kinda stuff even had a guy come into a shop I worked at with thick almost jelly like transmission fluid she put cheap ATF in a 300
Not a Dodge guy at all. Got the hood up for the first time on my mother-in-law's charger. Never heard of a dealer only cap. Where did you get the dipstick? Hopefully not the dealership
Bought the dipstick from Amazon. Never liked dodge but I got this car in a trade and it lasted me 8 years before selling it this spring. Was good to me most of the time lol
@@outsidewithjeff I appreciate the help. I ended up going to the parts store and getting what they called a dipstick tool. It's like 3 ft long and not made to stay in the vehicle
Also service the electrical connector on the trans they are known for leaking trans fluid
New spark plugs, clean out the throttle body and the mass air flow sensor. I bet it sounds a lot better. Careful w the egr valve o ring if you do.

My dispstick sumhow got stuck.Trying to figure out how??
🤔 that’s odd. Try to twist it perhaps
Thank you I refill it and my transmision is working better after this
Excellent

I just ordered the one for my vehicle per Amazon and it worked perfectly.
@@outsidewithjeff
Thank you. Can you specify its length in cm, ml, or any other unit and tell us so that everyone can benefit?
@@outsidewithjeff
Can you please measure the dipstick length?

Mine at cold was at the 45 line
So the dealer only cap is the transmission fluid cap ?
Yes
Will that work on an 08 charger pursuit with the 5.7?
If it also has a dealer only cap then yea it should
Where can I get a dip stick instead of a dealer's only cap
Amazon
I thought my lifter tap was bad but dang mine gets quite after 5 mins
Same
Might be the rocker arms not lifters or both
Always a option
Dude same lmfao
if it gets quiet as the car heats up thats not lifters, lifters get louder as the car heats up
Same process for 2010 charger 2.7?
If there is a dealer only cap then I would say yes.

Soundz like my dad sleepn RIP DAD 🙏.
🤔
How do I know it’s low tho like what level it has to be or what
There are marks in the aftermarket dipsticks showing you the level.

Also, use atf +4 on these transmissions….
👍🏻

I only do transmission fluid changes every 60,000 miles but I check it’s level every 3,000
I cant find wherwbto check transmission fluid Dodge charger 2009
Find the cap that says dealer only.
@@outsidewithjeff oh yea I found it , we need a dipstick
Does yours say Dealer only?
Yes it’s because there is not a dipstick there but you can buy one check your levels and then just replace the dealer only cap.
Mine is at 80 should I top up?
I personally like to keep my cars fluids topped off.
hi quick question
how do i open the dealer only cap?
just twist?
will i break anything?
Just twist it open, no tools required and it will go right back on afterwards without any damage. Nothing will break.
@@outsidewithjeff Thanks, I tentatively tried to twist it, and it's super tight and i didn't want to break it.
@@willyhwang1059 did you get it off, mine is on there so tight I need a tool or something
I was too chicken to do it, my mechanics friend did open it and nothing broke
I still think it’s an awful design
@superbowl32 Hawk Tuah and it came right off

It’s not to loud it’s just the video making it more pronounced. I check mine warm and in park.
Iys 130am. I cant sleep. Gonna gp check the transmission fluid on the dodge charger 2009.
I hope we have a dipstick
You’ll have to buy a aftermarket dipstick low I did.
Good video does it matter if i mix fluids for example my fluid is low and i purchase another brand fluid
Mixing brands doesn’t matter.
@@outsidewithjeff thanks alot heard many mixed opinions
Where i can find the dip stick??
Dose the engine dip stick can do the job ???
This vehicle does not come with a dipstick. You can order it on Amazon.
So the engine oil dip stick does not work???
Is this transmission fluid the best for this car?
There may be better but this is what I’ve been using for years.
Can low trans fluid cause it to slightly smoke and go into limp mode
Not likely, I’d recommend going to your local auto parts store and have them read your codes on the car.
These is no codes at all jus got back into the car it was completely fine I’m so confused before it wasn’t even going past 35-40 and wouldn’t shift to 3rd now it’s doing just fine so i know it’s not the trans something happened with the computer????
any update please @@071_Trell
Shoot our 2009 wouldnt shift past 40 today. @@071_Trell
Question, so mines dosent have a dip stick just the cap, did it break? Or am I suppose to buy the dipstick for the transmission?
You have to buy the dipstick separately. I bought mine on Amazon.
@@outsidewithjeff amazon says it is not a fit for the dip stick you posted
It was a fit for my make model year and engine. You’ll need to check your information for your particular vehicle.
@outsidewithjeff I put your info in said it's not for yours either ?
@BIGGDADDYNY64 Amazon is wrong on a lot of parts.
Is that penzoil atf +4 compatible
Check with your local shop if you’re unsure but per Pennzoil it is compatible with Dodge and Chryslers.
I'm just sceptical because I've heard some horror stories about this kinda stuff even had a guy come into a shop I worked at with thick almost jelly like transmission fluid she put cheap ATF in a 300
Gotcha
Can this transmission dip stick be left as a replacement for the cap full time or just to check ATF levels ?
It’s designed to lock into place as a replacement for the cap.

@chrislane8603 it’s best to get the one designed for your car. I paid like $15 and it’s made for my car so the level is accurate
Where do you get dipstick to check fluid
Ordered from Amazon for about $15
Cuanto litros lleva ?
You’ll need to check your vehicle owner manual to confirm this information.
Where can I find a lipstick
Amazon
How many liter of ATF required?
You’ll need to Google it based on the year of your vehicle.
Is that the famous lifter tick?
Yes and it’s still running though lol 200,328 miles and counting
Check oil level and do a oil treatment
Did it and after 2 treatments it’s much better I’m about to do a follow up video.
Yeah mines was ticking very noticeably and I did that it eliminated the noise
It helped mines out a lot
Lol
What the #part for lipsticks
Depends on your year. Go to Amazon and search your make and model and transmission dipstick
Man that's noisy
It’s much quieter now. I’ll make a new updated video soon
@@outsidewithjeffwhat needed replaced? My 2010 dodge charger sounds similar but not as loud. Otherwise runs great
@Una2cold Fuel injectors
Whats the tool you need to loosen the filter ?
What filter??
Wrong trans oil has to be atf+4
Send it!!!!
Ah rocker arms are going out
Or. Lifter but either way it’s been like this for the past 40k miles no worse no better.
