- Ernie is very sad to be leaving Norbury Junction this week as we continue our journey on the Shropshire Canal towards Tyrley Locks and Market Drayton. Woodseaves Cutting is the longest cutting in Britain and its such a deep one that we see lots of landslips, making navigation a little tricky.

Scarey land slips ! Wowsers. Lovely vlog. Cruise. And dear Ernie and Poppy. Awwwwww. Best wishes. ❤
It was probably the scariest part of our whole journey so far going through that cutting Trevor, I'm just so glad we didn't meet a boat coming the other way. 😊
Hi guys. Thanks for the video.. As always it helps make my day. So nice to see Ernie making friends. I know I say it every time but it makes me so happy to see you include Ernie as much as you do. All that's left is to get him drinking tea when you have one LoL!!! THanks again for making my day. Please stay safe.
Oh Colin that brings back memories of out late dog, he always had a morning tea with us, he loved it 🥰
@@uponreflection Oh that's so nice. The reason I made that comment ,was the way Ernie was looking at the two cups there!! Almost like where's mine???. I'm happy that was a good memory. Thank you all for your videos. Please stay safe.
Good evening Liz Paul and Ernie yes that was my boat as you left Norbury 👍. Bless Ernie and Poppy they make a great coupe dancing around together its a bit of puppy love, Poppy is a lovely dog she always knows that l have a pocket of treats. Well guys you definitely had me in stitches tonight what a excellent vlog. I remember Little House on the Prairie its a classic but l have found another series Paul on YT "Get some in", surely you must remember it or is it just me showing my age but the old ones are the best😂😂. I'm glad your still enjoying the Shropshire Union 😊 all the best Simon & Earl
Hi Simon, Paul's not heard or doesn't remember 'get some in' but he's going to have a little look when he can tear himself away from all his narrowboating vlogs 🤣 Ernies made a few friends since Norbury on out travels but non that match the connection he had with little poppy 😉😊
Love your channel just so relaxing and funny too thank you ❤
Glad you enjoy it Lesley thank you so much for commenting, it's so nice to hear 😊
I loved little house on the prairie.. was the best show in it's time......
So many comments saying the same. I really feel that I've missed out and need to somehow find the time to watch the remaining 203 episodes. 😊
Hiya you two. It was a real pleasure to meet up with you on the towpath today. Adam is gutted that he didn't know we were chatting and I was too starstruck to think of calling him out to say hello.
Happy cruising👍
Lovely to meet you too. Unless you shooting off early tomorrow we may see you whilst walking Ernie before we go to the festival . Enjoy the rest of your holiday if we don't catch up again, I really do hope this weather cheers up for you both 😊
@@uponreflection shocking he didn't say he was outside talking to you both! I was on me hands and knees cleaning the floor with the cordless vacuum that numpty forgot to bring the pipe for 🙄 Currently at the pub having a well needed drink after going for a curry. Well I say 'drink' 😳
@Badjester1 🤣 bless you for cleaning up. Hope you enjoy that drink or more 🤣😉☺️
Happy Birthday. I watched it the other month and then i watched
Worzel Gummidge. Im 61 , still love both. X
Oh wow worzel Gummidge I use to love that show. Thanks for the birthday wishes and for watching 😊
Hi guys gr8 vid again... Happy belated birthday to Paul, a 66 boy like me... Cheers Rob
Hi Rob thank you for Paul's birthday wishes and of course for watching and commenting 😀
Happy birthday Paul . My dogs name was Poppy . Lost her two years back now . But did say to my wife no more pet dogs as it did take me a long time to get over the loss of her.
It's heart breaking when you lose a pet. We said no more after we lost our beloved black labrador. But my son convinced us as he said we gave our dog such a fab life so why not offer that to another dog hence why we ended up with little Ernie. Paul has said before that losing a pet is a time when you see a grown man cry. 🥰
Keep up you three a pleasure to watch ,happy birthday Paul and that was hell of a confession about the little house on the prairie,All the best to you all
Thank you John and thanks for Paul's birthday wishes 😊
Thanks for your video, we always look forward to seeing them
Thank you for watching and we are glad to hear that you enjoy them, it makes our day 😊
I love your vlogs they are peaceful and lots of fun. Where I live In California it's been 40celsius already this year. Last year we had many days of 45.56 Celsius, not looking forward to this summer. I love British weather. Would move there in a minute if I could. Hugs to Ernie he's a good dog. See you next week! Janet
Hi Janet, wow that's some heat you have there. What are your winters like? Our seasons are lovely but it's just the rain of late that is getting to everyone, lands flooded, farmers fields ruined and unfortunately a further week of rain is predicted. Fingers crossed it brightens for us all soon. 😊
@@uponreflection I live just below the Sierra mountains, elevation around 10,000 feet. Last 3 winters have had over 20-25 feet of snow and lots of rain and wind in the lower elevations. So climate change affecting California especially during the summer months. We don’t get the seasons like other places, snow and rain in the winter and very hot during summer. Again thanks for your lovely vlogs and your English weather to watch.
Lovely vlog as ever. Those tall bridges are amazing. Belated happy birthday Paul. Hope we get some warm dry days for your journeys
Hi Jackie, the bridges are amazing aren't they, they really help to show just how deep these cuttings we are travelling through are. Fingers crossed for the nicer weather. Although according to the app we have about 8days of rain coming 🤨 thanks for watching 😊
Happy birthday, Paul . Can't believe you never stopped for some of that chopped down wood you passed lol
Hi Mark thanks for Paul's birthday wishes. Wood is in abundance everywhere on this canal 🤣😊
Thanks for the video full of fun and laughter even in the rain poor Ernie had to leave his new found friend. Many happy returns of the day Paul. Liz is doing better on the tiller well done Liz you can be the captain soon 😂😂. Stay safe guys, Ed 40 S of Vegas
Hi Ed, think it will be a few years before I can take that captains hat and if I'm honest who would I then blame for the scratches on the boat 🤣 have a fab week. See you next time 😊
Loved Little House on the Praire. The original books were even better
We've just been told that there are also 3 films which we didn't know so we'll be looking at those in the future. 😉😊
Little house on the prairie was FAB. 😂
I really feel that I've missed out by not watching it now, everyone has written raving comments about the show. I just need to find enough time to watch the remaining 203 episodes to catch up with you all 🤣😊
Hey guys, Hi Ernie .
Love little house on the prairie. YesnCrick on the Sunday was horrendous I got stuck in the beer tent 😮
Have a fantastic week 😀 😊
I suppose there are worse places to be stuck 🤣
@@uponreflection deffinatly x
Happy Birthday Paul! another lovely vlog guys x
Thank you Rebecca for Paul's birthday wishes 😊
*Kia ora Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂another fabulous video from you all 🙂 Happy belated 58th birthday Paul... I am sure that you got spoiled from Ernie and Liz 🙂 Yep I watched 'Little House on the Prairie' with Michael Landon playing the dad... a great series to watch. Also 'The Waltons' was great too. 🙂 Gee that canal was extremely narrow aye. Plus to get drenched as well.🙂 I love seeing the scenery & landscape.. it really shows how much do not see when traveling in or on any vehicles. Oh the little villages are so cute.. 🙂nz*
Hi Andrea, I agree travelling by canal is such a different viewpoint. I've been to many places by car and its such a different perceptive by boat. The Waltons, I remember....goodnight John boy😉 Hope you are doing well and the quotes have come in for your renovation 😊
@@uponreflection *Hi ya, yep I am doing well... Since I have time before the shower unit arrives... I must get onto getting the other tradie quotes done. We have a HUGE weather bomb coming in tonight and all day tomorrow... So hopefully no flooding will happen all over Auckland. But the council as usual have not swept the street gutters and road drains/grates and they are full of leaves...so the rain water will have no where to go...!!!.*
@andreacrashe9894 oh no, hope the rain isn't to much and no flooding happens x
@@uponreflection *I hope so too. The council still haven't sorted out ALL the homes that were flooded a year ago... the owners are still waiting... and with every heavy rain, it just makes the stress levels go up even more.. The rain is coming down now!.*
A very nice float. Thanks for taking us along.
You very welcome, thanks for joining us again 😊
Hope you had a great Birthday Paul 🎂🍺🍻
Remember Little House on the Praire well, loved it ❤
When we lived in Sandbach, Cheshire used to walk to our local post office past fields and there would be hundreds of frogs on the pavement. It was always so sad to see some of them squashed. I love frogs.
Great vlog as usual 👍
Hi Jan, thanks for Paul's birthday wishes. Wow, what a fab memory seeing all the frogs, think I've only ever seen one or two in my while lifetime 😊
Love the vlog.
I used to watch Little House on the Prairie, I just loved it.
I also watched the Waltons, sounds like Paul and myself are little older than you Liz.
Just love the parting shot of Ernie😂
My husband did not watch Little House on the Prairie, he thought it was "Rubbish"😂
Ha ha Rubbish 🤣 love it. I remember the Walton with John boy 😉🤣 so nice to hear that you enjoyed the vlog 😊😊 Thanks Jayne 😄
Loved little house on the prairie and the waltons😂
The good olde shows a lesley 😉😊
Loved Little house on the Prairie, one of my favourites
Everyone's agreed that it's a fab programme so I may have to sit and watch all 204 episodes now then to see what I missed out on😉😊
Great video Woodseaves cutting gets worse it is a challenge. I used to love Little House on the Prairie too. Clive has given in his notice and we shall be continuous cruising ourselves soon. Hopefully meet up with you somewhere on the network.
That's fab news Sue. Definitely hope to see you out in the cut, Ernie will be so excited to see Poppy again. 😍
A captivating video. Quiet, picturesque country side. The photogenic couple with their faithful dog, braving the weather to explore the canals. Couldn't be better.
Thank you Hugh, glad you enjoyed😊
Another great vlog, belated happy birthday wishes Paul.
Hi Jean, hope your doing well. Thank you for Paul's birthday wishes 😊
Belated Happy Birthday Paul🎂
Thank you Susan 😊
Little House on the Prairie what a classic feel good series. I grew up watching it. Great to watch on a miserable wet afternoon. 1974-1983 nine series 204 episodes 3 movies. Happy belated birthday 🎉
Hi Neil, 3 movies aswell, well I didn't know that. I shall have to have a little search for them. Thank you for birthday wishes. 😊
HAPPY BIRTHDAY I HOPE YOU HAD A FEW COLD ONES
Thank you for the birthday wishes 😉😊

take care of each other please .
happy birthday sir .
i passed on the forth attempt and went on to be HGV driver for 30 years so please your doing ok.. xx
🤣 If you need a toad 🤣🤣 love it.
Fourth attempt, some would say the ones that don't pass first time are the better drivers a...clearly we had more practise so....🤣🤣
Well, congrats are due, Paul! I bet Erns had a few brews lined up for you! Plus you are on a beautiful stretch of canal there, otherworldly. Loved this week’s vlog! ❤🐕❤️
Thank you so much Eric, glad you enjoyed and thanks for Paul's birthday wishes. 😊
Was on there years ago its great in 2010 love watching this reminds me of everything 🤘👍🏻brillaint
Hi Lee, was it as overgrown in 2010, I'd love to see how it's changed over the years. Did you find it all looks quite the same now or has a lot changed?😊
Bit more boats about but the scenery is fantastic as it was🤘🏻👍🏻
Love "Little House". Michael Landon was an eye full
Good old Micheal landon😉😊
Hi guys great videos. Remember me? its Keith- Animal the owl guy from Norbury. Hope you're all well. :)
Hi Keith, how could I forget the man who has an owl on his shoulder 🤣😉 😊
Great vlog guys, glad Ernie enjoyed his pigs ear thanks for the mention 😊Such a special guy. As for Little House on the Prairie, one of my favourites. Really enjoy your vlogs keep pootling
Thanks Mandy, I'm glad you wrote a comment as I didn't catch your name at Crick, I was all in a bit of a tiss🤣 so lovely to hear that you enjoy our vlogs and thank you so much for watching 😊
I LOVE ERNIE WHAT A GREAT DOG HIS GREAND
Argh he's a character for sure isn't he. 😍😊
Thanks for another entertaining cruise guys. Happy birthday Paul! And isn't the Woodseaves Cutting amazing?
Hi Neil, the high bridges along it really give you an insight to how deep that Woodseaves cutting is. Fascinating area but quite daunting to travel through, just glad we didn't meet a boat coming the other way. 😊
My sister had cancer and she wanted to watch them all again so its good memory for me i also love it im 59 must be the age lol
Well I only watched the first one but I must say considering when it was produced it certainly had me hooked. Been told there are 204 episodes though so I doubt I'll watch all of them but may give a few more episodes a watch 😊
We saw you at Crick but I had my Rottie with me, who was experiencing mass crowds for the first time, so he was a little manic.... Boy was it busy Saturday,
Argh bless, Ernie found it a struggle at times too. It was busy wasn't it. I think everyone chose to go on the Saturday after looking at the weather forecast for the other days 😊
Got me kettle. 👍🙂
Perfect, glad you managed to get one 😊
HELLO BOTH HOWS THINGS ON THE RIVER GOOD TO SEE YA
Thanks so much for joining us again on our adventures. We are very well thanks, hope you have a good week yourself and hopefully see you back here next week 😊

Wonderful Video. Just discovered your channel and had to subscribe.
Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed the video 😃😃
hey guys we here in oz finading it that the areas of Autumn, spring etc the weather here is all over the place......... I still have balckberries on my bush and it's May/June...... crap we are now into winter......My carroets and Potatoes will be coming up soon...
It's been so unpredictable the weather all around really hasn't it.
p.s. We share the same birthday Paul :)
Happy belated birthday Keith. Hope you had a fab one too 😃
I always wondered about hte tree types...none of the other vloggers cover it
I doubt we will if I'm honest 🤣 although we may be able to identify some now with the use of Paul's birthday present but don't hold your breathe 🤣😊
A really great phone app I use to identify plants and trees in called "Picture This". There's a yearly subscription and I can't remember how much it is off the top of my head but it's not very much really. Oh, and with Liz being in her early 30's of course she wouldn't know about Little House on the Prairie. How an old man like Paul landed such a pretty young lady I'll never know. 😜😄 Just joking 😂but, you guys do make a great couple. Thanks, and take care.
Ha ha Roger. Early 30's indeed, I can only wish 🤣 Thanks for 'picture this' recommendation, I'll look into that 😊
Do you remember the Sullivans 😊
Hi Sue, I've just asked Paul and he says he doesn't remember the Sullivans. He's going to look that up 😉😊
hi my two favorite couple are people doing well my gorgeous dog earning is doing well as well what a lovely kiss where you are hope you enjoyed cruise love always davexx
Thank you again Dave for watching and your lovely comment 😊
Happy belated birthday Paul! :) Little house on the prairie??? Seriously! That was for girls lol, To be honest i've been a Dr Who fan all my life till now (sigh!). Don't mention Cadburys I was the operations controller for Cadburys for 20 yrs sick of bloody chocolate lol :) Your up norf now Paul The sign was for beware of the frogs even they'll mug ya! haha:) Always a smile when you post, the love for the canals is always evident in your video's. And here's me thinking all cockneys were like those depressing narky characters in Eastenders lol :)
Get out my pub....that's what a depressing Cockney Eastender would say to you 🤣
What a job, working for Cadburys, I'd have loved that job, either to enjoy the chocolate or to be put off by it 😊 win win 🤣🤣
Poor Ernie - heartbroken and then soaked - its rrrubbish!
Trust me he said more than rubbish on this occasion 🤣😉😊
And your names are Paul and Elizabeth. Sorry if i got your names messed up.
Spot on, although u go by Liz more than my full name...my dad tends to call me Elizabeth, when I'm in trouble 🤣🤣
Hi guys
Great video good Ernie got himself girlfriend (family planning clinic time)
Little house on prairie good memories
You both stay safe and well and of course Ernie 🦮🦮👍👍
Hi Ronald, poor little Ernie, he's met some new friends since he left poppy but none really compare 😉 thanks for watching. Have a great week 😊
👍
Thanks for watching 😊
Ok, did Paul leave out who he had a crush on in Little House on the Prairie? Laura or Mary Ingalls? Or the bully Nellie? 🤣🤣🤣
🤣 He replied without hesitation...Laura 🤣
I REMEMBER IT MICHEAL LAMDON HE WENT IN HIGH WAY TO HEAVEN THATS WAS A CLASSIC
Yes that's him, Micheal Lamdon. 😊

Hi Joan thanks so much for watching and for the birthday wishes. Ernies met a few new friends since this video but still non compare to his favourite poppy. Bless him 😊
Got the spelling right now Ernie is your dogs name.
Yes, Ernie..also known as burns or Ernie burnie..he has lots of nick names.🤣😄
Xx
Thanks for watching 😊
My Mother tells a great story about little house on the prairie She was watching in the 1970s the Doctor who lived next door rang the door bell She answered the door in floods of tears as a baby had died on the show The Doctor was rightly concerned about mother’s health as she could get the words out why she was crying all she was mumbling about a baby dying He thought it was one of us had snuffed it
What a fab story, your mums next door neighbour doctor must have been a little worried at the time..although in telling this story you've told me what happens in the upcoming ones I've yet to see 🤣🤣 spoiler alert🤣🤣 I'm joking of course, as I doubt I will ever return to watch the rest of them 😉😊
@@uponreflection Just look up they made 204 episodes if you watch one per night you will need your tissues about Christmas 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@davidpearson243 🤣 think I'll stick to the one that I've watched. 😉
Weather the weather is good or weather is bad. Now i have for gotten the rest sorry. Yes you can get some frogs that big buy not in the UK .
We don't tend to see many frogs, especially not crossing the road 😉😃
I always wear a subconscious smile on my haggard old mug watching your videos. Cheers.
That's a really lovely thing to hear and we are so pleased that you enjoy watching 😊
Oops did i get your dogs name wrong as you did say poppy first now Erney not spelt right sorry about.
You got it right a John. Our dog is Ernie. Poppy was a dog that we met a few weeks back that Ernie fell in love with 😉😊
A landslip???? You should have seen the one at Brinklow...........
I have seen footage of the one at Brinklow, that was certainly a big landslip wasn't it and they've worked very well on getting it cleared 😊
Dear Liz, Paul and Ernie
Liz what is the name of the music which is playing around the 9:50 mark in this video? I have heard it in past vlogs and find the tune really catchy.
How do you and Paul keep narrow boat Assumption looking so good? The paint work always looks as if it is brand new. Never a rust mark on her and always so shiny.
Take care and looking forward to next week.
Mark
Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark, the amount of rain we've had keeps her clean 🤣 as for the music, let me have a look when I next get the laptop out and I'll get back to you. 😊
Thank you Liz. Ya I guess the rain does help, does Paul still find time to buff and polish Assumption?
Mark
Alberta, Canada@@uponreflection
@markrant1460 no that's mainly my job and I use a no water polish as water is precious so every now and again I give her a little buff over 😊
Hi @markrant1460 the music you were asking about is 'point being - Go By Ocean - Ryan McCaffrey 😊
Thank you Liz
