  • Have a great summer!! ☀️
    (Oguken voice: Summer's already over!)
Ondo, for anyone wondering, is a type of Japanese folk music commonly used for summer festival dances.
By the way, this video would have been up far sooner, but there's actually a 20-year-long mystery hiding in this song and I was trying to get to the bottom of it. Ultimately I've cut my losses and am publishing this with my best assumption of what the truth is, even if it's the unpopular one. (Details of this can be found immediately following the song credits.)
Ojamajo Doremi Dokka~n! ED - Ojamajo Ondo de Happy-ppy!! ("Ojamajo Ondo Makes You Happy-ppy!!")
Vocals: MAHO Do (Harukaze Doremi, Fujiwara Hazuki, Senoo Aiko, Segawa Onpu, Asuka Momoko, Hana-chan)
    Lyrics: BRIAN
    Composition: Kosugi Yasuo
    Arrangement: Ueda Susumu
    Translations by me
Featured in Dokka~n! episodes 14-30 as an ending song.
THE 20-YEAR MYSTERY: WHO THE HECK WROTE THESE LYRICS????
The short answer: I dunno lol. No one even seems to know how this person's name is pronounced.
The long answer: The lyricist for this song, 武頼杏, has only ever been credited with this one song (at least under that name). I haven't been able to find any official documentation that tells the reading of the kanji for their name (it's a VERY irregular name). The official Toei site for Dokka~n! formats the name as 武 頼杏 (meaning the family name would be one kanji, and the given name would be two kanji), and the JASRAC database has it as 武瀬 杏 (the family name as two kanji, and the given name as one). It's also worth pointing out that the JASRAC database uses a different kanji from the Toei site, TV credits, CD inserts, and literally every other instance of the name, so this leads me to believe that the JASRAC database is, in fact, wrong. (By the way, the JASRAC database has the pronunciation of the name as "Takese Anzu," but as this is based upon incorrect kanji, I will not be taking it as fact.)
As I said, the name 武頼杏 is very irregular and it's impossible to know without asking the person themself how it's meant to be pronounced. Majopedia has the name as "Takeyori Anzu," but the reading of 武頼 as "Takeyori" is if the kanji is used as a given name, not a family name. I've seen Korean lyric sites with the name as "Yuki Anzu" but honestly it just doesn't make any sense for the kanji to be pronounced that way. So after taking into consideration the various pronunciations of each of the three individual kanji on their own, and then stumbling down one or two rabbitholes related to Japanese racehorses, I've come to the conclusion that the name is very likely meant to be pronounced as "Buraian" - or, in other words, "Brian" (or "Bryan," but the aforementioned racehorse rabbithole, if at all relevant, suggests the former).
Stylizing the name in all-caps is just my personal choice. It somehow felt like the right thing to do.

I'm Umeko, a longtime Ojamajo Doremi fan! I'm an American expat currently living in Japan, where I teach English.
Owaranai Monogatari was originally a lyrics website I created for the 10th anniversary of the final episode of Ojamajo Doremi, but at the time I became too busy to keep up with website updates and ultimately I misplaced everything except the text translations! So now I'm using those text translations to create lyrics videos (color-coded where applicable).
I'm experienced with fan translations but not so much with video editing, so please don't judge me too harshly on that front haha.

Oh I agree! ;) 😃 🇯🇵 So rich in culture, history and technology! 😃
I first saw an episode of Ojomajo (Doremi in the West!) In Spain when I was 14! Or, at least when I WAS a teenager! XD
I spent the night at a friend of my dad’s place then the next morning it was on the telly all in Spanish!
In the episode there was this young boy who had a T Rex piggybank, you put the coin in its mouth, touch the head and it’ll poop out the coin!
Hazuki was NOT amused! 😱😂 She DOES have the very best hilarious mug shots! 😂😂😂

I really appreciate the effort you go into for these! I had no idea the writer's name was a mystery :O I'll see about fixing up the Majopedia (and Wikipedia - that seems to be where Majopedia got it from in the first place - no idea where Wiki got it from tho) article sometime.
Also oh man I never noticed the DANCE! Ojamajo reference at 0:19 before?!

@@mensia1_7936 Yeah. Hana is noisy and bratty. But overall she is cute and very nice.
For Onpu I already like her since her debut on Original. Though I don't lile when she was being "evil". Actually, more like cold and self-serving.

Is this song for how you Japanese celebrate New Year’s Day or is it for some other special occasion?

In the summer, "natsu-matsuri"(summer festivals) are often held everywhere in Japan, and we frequently do a dance called "bon-odori" there. This song is a type of song which is used in bon-odori. Many of the songs for bon-odori have '~ondo' in their title.
