@@aliceElle257 it is a review. You have to be critical to do an honest review. Funny how when a male reviewer gets critical of a product people will say "im glad you're so honest" but when its a woman....
So on the steak - probably pre-heat the oven to full temp and you'll get the searing effect. Judging from the chicken. For the fries - use way more oil to seal in the moisture, and more fries in the basket as it's really the air that's drying them out. Both those steps will make moist fries with a crust.
For dehydrating you can use shelves and have them covered with slatted trays. For broiling a steak, you just need to pre-heat and then it would be ok. And for the potatoes, you actually could fit more in there. There just needs to be enough space for them to move around. I appreciate the video but I felt like the tester should be going in more neutral to the product rather than going in with the idea that it's not going to be working that well. And if there are things you don't like about it during the test, try seeing if there are simple ways to get what you want, rather than just writing it off as not good at that feature.
Exactly! I have cooked steaks in air fryers. Just pre-heat them for like 10 mins and then you will get a sear. Maybe not a perfect one but still good enough.
I feel like she never reads instructions before she tests stuff. But there’s a large amount of people who do that so for them her reviews are spot on!😂
There are two kinds of people, those who are here to see an excellent chef cooking in a new ways and those who are here to spot and mention mistakes in the brand names, lol.
To get good results with cooking a steak in the Instant Vortex, you have to pre-heat the oven with the grill in place. I love my Instant Vortex and I use it all the time. Well worth $120.
I just got mine for Christmas but can’t find many recipes. What do you mean by the grill needs to be in place during the pre-heat? What if the grill? I’m so excited to use mine! I been wanting one for a while now!
Oh I just got one of these to replace my air fryer and I really like this one as it’s so much easier to clean and I’m loving the oven light to keep an eye on the food. It does work as a dehydrator but it really needs to be as far away as possible to the fan or the food will fly around. I didn’t experience any burning. Will roast veggies in 8 mins
Searing a steak means starting off with a preheated skillet or searing pan, I love my air fryers cooking fries, healthier for you than froes cooking in animal saturated fats a rotating basket I would adjust my cooking Time since 400-degree hot air is being circulated around them a convection oven cooks quicker than a convention oven. Subtract 25 degrees if a recipe calls for 350 degrees cooking temp. I'm an retired executive chef been around convection ovens for 30 years.
For dehydrating apples, you put the slices on one pan and place the other slotted pan on top so IT WONT FLY AROUND. It’s an AIR fryer. It uses air and blows around.
I love mine. Just bought one and I've done tator tots, small pizzas, chicken tenders, cookies. chicken wings. I recommend the vortex plus. so much fun to use
This would be great for a studio apartment that has no ovean though. The small size would actually be helpful for space saving and if it's only for one person then it should be fine. I love it!
It's obviously sized for 1 or 2 people, so I don't think capacity is a real issue. I've never seen a large air fryer, so the "fries for one" isn't a real complaint. If you're the type that dehydrates a lot of fruit, you'd get a specialty device. If you just don't want to heat up an oven, especially in the summer and want better chicken than a toaster oven would give you, this is perfect.
I have a duplex in a Brown Stone, I cooked wings and fries, with my back door open. And the fumes omitted from this air fyer was still so overwhelming. I wonder how come not one reviewer talks about those toxic smelling fumes. I felt so sick inhaling whatever that was this thing is giving off. My home smelt like burning tires afterwards. The wings were delicious but, i don't know if this is worth it.

You have to turn the pan upside down to sear the steak when broiling. It gets it closer to the element. Also, the size of the servings isn't an issue when you're cooking for one and don't want to heat up the whole house.
She made up her mind about it before she even started. PREHEAT!!! Lord help her! I have this device and it works very well. Her issues are most definitely user error

I am the dishwasher lol and it's super easy. Messes wipe right off with a sponge or cloth. I did a chicken in the basket and expected a big mess in the unit, but I hardly saw any splatter on the sides. The drip tray can be covered with foil but I find that to be wasteful. The basket can be cleaned with a vegetable brush. I soak mine first.
I told my dad to use Palmolive soap mixed with hot water in a spray bottle. Spray the inside and wipe off with sponge (green side). Works great and cleans very easily.

Exactly my thoughts. I have this oven and I am in love with it! My family’s getting them and my friends. That’s how much I brag about air fryer cooking! 👍🏽👍🏽 Btw, did she say she had a restaurant? I’m surprised she wouldn’t know to “preheat” the oven for the broiler function, just like you would do at home, before you put anything in it! Duh! 🤷🏽♀️
Love your look. Love your reviews. Still surprised at how many commenters want to critique things that don’t matter. Rock on with the product reviews. Thanks.
2:10 should those apple chips have been on the top-most level like that? Seems to me the middle rack may not have had the chips go flying compared to that top-most level.
Yeah, it was a pretty obvious screw-up. You'd think she would have saw that, and tried it again with it lower and film that. That would have been genuinely useful. But no, she left the User Error take in. Same with putting the steak in cold.
WildDisease she’s a professional chef, so hold your opinion of instant pot aside and pay attention, it’s a band wagon piece of crap like it original instant pot, it’s just good enough to make consumers think they bought something of quality, but it’s just plastic garbage with a pot inside, this pice of crap is a GIANT counter top convention oven that does nothing. Better then the rest of them, except the rotisserie thing.
That roast chicken looks amazing. Pretty impressed. I think the air fryer is really meant for doing those packaged frozen fries that are partially cooked already.
I saw other videos and they say you're supposed to soak the homemade variety for 20 minutes, then pat dry, mix with a bit of oil. I wonder if that would have helped with the outcome.
Sue Marie You soak the fries in water for 10 minutes before cooking and they come out perfect. And you can put more in the basket than she did. The main thing she failed to get across was with everything she cooked, it was done using much less fat than other methods. One of the main reasons for using an air fryer. I can again enjoy fries with out deep fat frying them. Rotisserie chicken is awesome!
@@edwardamarante2688 I've done homemade fries and store bought to compare and mine were just as good. I did soak, pat dry and add oil. I'm not great getting even cuts by hand so I bought the Starfrit PumpNSlice and am impressed with it. I hope it does as good a job on hard cheese and pepperoni like it shows on the commercial. I've also done sweet potatoes like the homemade fries. Saving lots of money that way. I was actually surprised at how much can fit in the basket. The ability to rotate your food around makes this look interesting. I would love to see how this compares with a "normal" air-fryer (those with a pull-out compartment at the bottom) in terms of cooking speed and quality.
Like your reviews..you're brutally honest, accurate, and most importantly, has hands on experience..you've used the products in your restaurant.. thanks..new subscriber..
She comes off very strong initially and it takes getting used to but I like and appreciate her honesty. I had a good chuckle watching this. I was watching this cos I just got my new airfryer today but with 9 different functions.
Initially? I found her very irritating , snotty, and I found myself rolling my eyes at her review. I hope they get a more pleasant and positive person to replace her.
Thanks for sharing your video. I agree that the rotisserie is the best feature too. 2nd best is the rotating basket. I did my first chicken in it because I didn't have cotton string to tie it and it was amazing. I don't have a bbq so hotdogs done this in the basket are the closest to grilled. One word of caution is that you can only use a max 4 lb chicken with either function or you will eventually break the part that holds it. If the bird is bigger, you can put it in a pan on one of the cooking trays.
I have this instapoy vortex for a while now and I love it. There’s a guy on TH-cam that gives recipes and tricks on using this machine. Also he suggested to not use the roller basket for fries. Just lay them flat on the pans.
finally, someone who understands how to airfry french fries!!! I hate it when people put fries in an airfryer with extremely little oil and expect the product to be amazing. Airfry gets bad rep because of poor usage of the tool.
Um, it does say to preheat. I have this machine for two months now. That is a lot of fries for multiple people not just you so stop sounding condescending. This chick is cooking all these dishes without researching. I recommend the instant pot vortex fb group for recipes.
do you love the oven as wel. it does the EXACT SAME THING :) Set temp to 400?... a fan pushes the hot air around. Flip food halfway through cooking. How is an oven different????? What kinda "fryer" has you flip your food???? XD
Be careful when cleaning the basket, that blade inside WILL slice you open. I was washing it out with cloth rag and was applying pressure when suddenly I felt a cut on pinky finger. If I didn't have quick reflexes it could have been real bad. It did draw blood. But I love the way it cooks. The best dam buffalo wings I ever made. I want to fry an egg with it just to see.
J L that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard the potato is made from starch, if you meant dry off the liquid on the surface you’d have a point but you didn’t. And liquid would make it soggy not dry, still don’t know what you were trying to say.
Just got a 9-n-1 yesterday and I made home cut french fries. I did 1 tsp olive oil, 15 minutes on 400 and they were still slightly bendable, slightly crispy, and really good. I think you just overcooked them. The guide said 20-25 minutes but totally not needed.
is everyone outside of the usa that stupid that they arent taught imperial and metric in school? and people keep saying the american school system is backward....
The reason not any higher sure is they don't want to be responsible if it does explode if higher than 400. Maybe if you seal the steak on the stove and then put in vortex oven to finish it off like can do with a regular steak. Glad your secured the chicken with twine some people complain that it falls off and I see them not doing so which is normal.
Not convince if rotisserie. You can spatchcock the chicken and get same result in oven without having something that take up valuable counter space especially in a small apartment. Still a great video and love her look at a waste of perfectly good steak. Guess they can quickly sear it in a cast iron pan
The trays looked solid, they should have been mesh style trays, to let airflow through Oh yeah cooking too long, beef jerky took under 2 hours for me She wanted to find faults from the start It's home cooking, not restaurant kitchen
This lady was being so negative regarding this appliance from the very beginning which made me suspicious of her. I don't trust her review of this probably wonderful item one bit. 💯
This “item” is awful, instant pot made one thing and one thing only and they did a half assed job with the instant pot too, but a consumer wouldn’t notice.
only scenario i could see keeping this. i have an oven and it does everything i see this do. i can even get a non stick fryer bascet for the oven for 5$ i used mine for a couple things now and dont see a difference. fries are the same.
I don't know which kitchen countertop oven broil function will sear a steak ...please show me ... the broil function is normally used to create a crust on the top of a baked dish.
@@diannt9583 they are delicious though and as long as your balancing your diet, healthy enough. The bigger issue with Costco chicken is it's a chore. Costco's arent usually close, always packed, always checkout lines, you either go to buy a few things or not at all.

Just got one as a gift. It’s awesome. You can make fries in the trays, too. Looks like the fries were cooked too long. You can fit a 2lb. bag of fries in basket. You can make, pizza, toast, vegetables, pork chops, steak, chicken, etc. maybe learn a bit more about how to use it. Didn’t seem like a fair review.
Im looking for something like this now. I bought an airfryer and insta pot duo combo years ago, i use ot but i really hate the cylinder surface area for frying and or dry cooking. Quite frankly it sucks in that sense, but it cooks... like an "oven" should haha. I want the rotisserie option and to be able to lay my protein on a rectangular surface
Why do I love this review? Even if she wasn't it conveys her honesty really well. Even IF she wasn't. Great review!!! Great! Stuff went wrong that you allow me to decide if I still want that product.
This is the thing that matters the most for these gadgets. The foreman grill was one of the greatest cooking gadgets ever, but it was a pain in the ass to clean.
I have the exact same one from a cheaper $40 Faberware. Anything with a high fat content gets baked on and if cooked at a high heat for a prolonged time. The fan blows the fat everywhere. So it's a pain in the ass to clean. There's no fat drip pan, which they don't show, but it does make great chicken. I do wish it would go above 400f.

Exactly my thoughts. I have this oven and I am in love with it! My family’s getting them and my friends. That’s how much I brag about air fryer cooking! 👍🏽👍🏽
Btw, did she say she had a restaurant? I’m surprised she wouldn’t know to “preheat” the oven for the broiler function, just like you would do at home, before you put anything in it! Duh! 🤷🏽♀️
@@elevate32767 😄 might been blooper video. If I saw it flying I would said let's move them down a bit
I’m just here for Esther 😍👏
Love your look. Love your reviews. Still surprised at how many commenters want to critique things that don’t matter. Rock on with the product reviews. Thanks.
2:10 should those apple chips have been on the top-most level like that? Seems to me the middle rack may not have had the chips go flying compared to that top-most level.
Yeah, it was a pretty obvious screw-up. You'd think she would have saw that, and tried it again with it lower and film that. That would have been genuinely useful. But no, she left the User Error take in. Same with putting the steak in cold.
We own one of these and haven’t had her experiences. We like ours a lot!
She complains before she even uses it and then all the way through. I think it's a great product!
And? She didnt pay for it. Sit yo ass down
@@rudystraight1750 ok, that was uncalled for.
@LilStampBug Very uncalled for! You were the bigger person and responded with more grace and class than they did you.
@@LilStampBug nahh it was pretty called for. I phoned it in
Ya it is kinda 🙄
I love my Instant Pot !
Biggest complaints about systems/appliances are usually rooted in lack of understanding
I couldn't have said it better.
Sue Marie
You soak the fries in water for 10 minutes before cooking and they come out perfect.
I didn't even come close to filling it a 1/4 of the way. WIN WIN
@@edwardamarante2688 hmm it seems like she is a horrible reviewer then, if she is going to review something and wont even read the instructions b4 using it...shouldn't be reviewing
I read somewhere years ago that soaking home made french fries in a sugar water solution seals in the moisture and makes the outside very crispy.
Damn...for only $120 this would be worth it just for the rotisserie chicken. Great demonstration and review. 👍
Would rather buy a vertical rotisserie grill. Then u can get rotisserie chicken. Homemade gyros. Kebab. Etc. Its around the same price.
It is definitely worth it I’ve only used my oven once for cookie/brownies I don’t have the accessories as soon as I do though no more oven
I'd really think of this as a toaster oven that can do chicken and sort of do a few other things.
I own one and love mine. It keeps my apartment cool
mine works well
I made chicken thighs n bake function
Turned them once. Lots seasoning and turned out great
The ability to rotate your food around makes this look interesting. I would love to see how this compares with a "normal" air-fryer (those with a pull-out compartment at the bottom) in terms of cooking speed and quality.
I have this product and love it 🥰
Like your reviews..you're brutally honest, accurate, and most importantly, has hands on experience..you've used the products in your restaurant.. thanks..new subscriber..
I just bought one, can't wait to start cooking in it.
When is this series coming back? It's one of my favorites on TH-cam.
Perfect example of jack of all trades, master of none! Or one!
@KingInTheNorth except slow cooker
But the full phrase is "jack of all trades but master of none is often better than a master of one"...
Nigel learned that the hard way when I replaced my slow cooker with an instant pot. I hate it.
@@nathan42100 which is true here. The owner of a really, really small apartment is gonna like this thing.
Paul Smith 😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing your video. I agree that the rotisserie is the best feature too. 2nd best is the rotating basket. I did my first chicken in it because I didn't have cotton string to tie it and it was amazing. I don't have a bbq so hotdogs done this in the basket are the closest to grilled. One word of caution is that you can only use a max 4 lb chicken with either function or you will eventually break the part that holds it. If the bird is bigger, you can put it in a pan on one of the cooking trays.
I just love Esther Choi so much.
I love mine, is sorprisinly fast, friendly use, and use aluminum foil, still works great
Um, it does say to preheat. I have this machine for two months now. That is a lot of fries for multiple people not just you so stop sounding condescending.
This chick is cooking all these dishes without researching. I recommend the instant pot vortex fb group for recipes.
Westielover that was 1.5 potatoes for a family? Instant pot isn’t a cult right? Or you got paid?
do you love the oven as wel. it does the EXACT SAME THING :)
Set temp to 400?... a fan pushes the hot air around.
I want to fry an egg with it just to see.
there's an error in the description box. It says 'testes' instead of tests. 🤔
I did my steak today but first you preheat then you put little olive oil seasoning and 7 min i like my midium well no burn smell in house love it
LMFAO @ "It's been 6 hours..." for those times when you wake up and think "man I'd really like some dehydrated apple chips this afternoon."
😂
Yeh that definitely didint seem worth it lul
I make jerky in mine though and love it. 160 for 2 hours and its done.
😂
I enjoyed reading all the comments 🤣🤣🤣 still going to buy one.
Your procedure for air fry french fry did not remove the starch on the surface first that's why it's dry.
J L that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard the potato is made from starch, if you meant dry off the liquid on the surface you’d have a point but you didn’t. And liquid would make it soggy not dry, still don’t know what you were trying to say.
Makes sense. Thank you.
Esther out here looking like a snack GUUUUUUUUUUUURL.
Very good to know these details. The comments included here are good.
That chicken looked picture perfect! Fantastic job on your demonstration, Esther.
Just got a 9-n-1 yesterday and I made home cut french fries. I did 1 tsp olive oil, 15 minutes on 400 and they were still slightly bendable, slightly crispy, and really good. I think you just overcooked them. The guide said 20-25 minutes but totally not needed.
I really enjoy the Test Kitchen reviews on products lets us know what's good or not thank you keep up the good work
I saw this at Walmart and was tempted to buy it. After watching this review, I'm glad I didn't. Thank you for creating and posting this video.
Can you mention temperatures in celcius as well for the rest of us in the modern world?
Google.
i was a bit shocked when she said that the gadget can get to 400 degrees. and then it hit me that it's in F.
Use a conversion chart or Google.
is everyone outside of the usa that stupid that they arent taught imperial and metric in school? and people keep saying the american school system is backward....
@@iHasCaek Your'e a moron and this discussion is already too complicated for you, go comment on something else.
This is the very best review I've seen in a long time. Please continue having this woman review multifunction ovens!!
fix it and forget it! The legend of Ron Propeel live on
The reason not any higher sure is they don't want to be responsible if it does explode if higher than 400. Maybe if you seal the steak on the stove and then put in vortex oven to finish it off like can do with a regular steak. Glad your secured the chicken with twine some people complain that it falls off and I see them not doing so which is normal.
Esther looks gorgeous in this episode more so than normal
Back handed compliment 😃
She’s alway looking good, but damn. She’s looks smoking hot in this video.
I like the no nonsense, here are exactly what I think review. Subscribed.
Esther looks great in this video! And i like this product for that good ol chicken roast
Wow your the first honest person I ever seen on TH-cam or TV. Thank you so much for your honest opinions.
6 hours of electricity to dry one apple...
Definitely not worth the high cost!
@@heliaalves9062 That's what Dehydrators are for.
😂
@@czellner00 not for 6 hours.....
Yeah indeed.
Not convince if rotisserie. You can spatchcock the chicken and get same result in oven without having something that take up valuable counter space especially in a small apartment. Still a great video and love her look at a waste of perfectly good steak. Guess they can quickly sear it in a cast iron pan
The trays looked solid, they should have been mesh style trays, to let airflow through
Oh yeah cooking too long, beef jerky took under 2 hours for me
She wanted to find faults from the start
It's home cooking, not restaurant kitchen
how long will you dehydrate Jerky in your Oven?? Insta Pot Plus will do it in 5hrs with no Heat coming out in Kitchen when its 90 outside
This lady was being so negative regarding this appliance from the very beginning which made me suspicious of her. I don't trust her review of this probably wonderful item one bit. 💯
Controversy creates comments. I suspect the video was done like this on purpose just to get people reacting. Old trick but still works.
This “item” is awful, instant pot made one thing and one thing only and they did a half assed job with the instant pot too, but a consumer wouldn’t notice.
When you demo could you also tell us what wattage and how economical electrical items are to run please?
When your living in a small place that has no kitchen just a sink it comes in handy
only scenario i could see keeping this. i have an oven and it does everything i see this do. i can even get a non stick fryer bascet for the oven for 5$ i used mine for a couple things now and dont see a difference. fries are the same.
I don't know which kitchen countertop oven broil function will sear a steak ...please show me ... the broil function is normally used to create a crust on the top of a baked dish.
Esther Choi rules. 🤘🏽
Hi ....can we use borosil bowls in it ?
At this price, I think I'll stick to $5 rotisserie chicken from Costco!
Oversalted.
@@diannt9583 they are delicious though and as long as your balancing your diet, healthy enough. The bigger issue with Costco chicken is it's a chore. Costco's arent usually close, always packed, always checkout lines, you either go to buy a few things or not at all.
I got that chicken once and it was all pink on the inside. Gross
Catchows I doubt it

Obviously, she hasn’t had a Steak at Denny’s lately, because I had a T-Bone about a month ago and it was FANTASTIC!!! Nice, Medium Rare, tender/tasty and Meaty!!! I was really Surprised!!!
Good job on listing those functionalities! You did it!
Looks like something moms would buy on Black Friday and never use it once😂
Ya. Oeno Guilth! Its still got the styrofoam around it
Im looking for something like this now.
She seemed negative about this fryer from the beginning,, but like most,, she loves chicken 🤣
Haha yep kinda what I need. My son (8) and daughter (9) loves chicken being able make a whole chicken would save me some sanity 😄
I did beef jerky and it came out awesome
Wow Denny's be like " a steak like at Denny"s?" Hold my beer... where's my beer ... did I have a beer?
its under your tummy, yknow where your feet used to be!
Why do I love this review? Even if she wasn't it conveys her honesty really well. Even IF she wasn't. Great review!!! Great! Stuff went wrong that you allow me to decide if I still want that product.
How is it to clean?
This is the thing that matters the most for these gadgets.
The foreman grill was one of the greatest cooking gadgets ever, but it was a pain in the ass to clean.
I have the exact same one from a cheaper $40 Faberware. Anything with a high fat content gets baked on and if cooked at a high heat for a prolonged time. The fan blows the fat everywhere. So it's a pain in the ass to clean. There's no fat drip pan, which they don't show, but it does make great chicken. I do wish it would go above 400f.
@@fukyespopwar That is no bueno...
I just got one. I dig it!
"I want to be air fried" said no steak ever. FYI All air fryers don't work the same.
She can air fry me!
A light buttering for the last couple minutes helps when searing a steak in this unit.
