    Someone else may have already commented on this as I haven't read all 441 comments. But the difference in the settings is that only the air fryer and roast settings will bug you with the "Turn food" feature. So "bake" is quiet handy because you can get all the way through your first time check without having to pull out the bucket and set it back. Thanks for your review.

    *I like that I can "fry" something on a whim! An oil fryer takes so much more time to clean and prepare **MyBest.Kitchen** a chore which usually kept me from frying all together. Also, the lack of needing oil to fry means that my family and I are eating healthier... while still enjoying the crispiness of fried foods.*

    I think the only reason the first piece of toast looked crispier was because for the next two pieces the preheat had already been done. The first piece had two minutes longer to cook while preheating. Great review though! And it looks like a great product.

    Urvashi, I've had my Instant Vortex 6 qt. air fryer for a little over a year, and It's fantastic. I found myself to your video looking for instructions on cooking freshly breaded Perdue chicken nuggets, not frozen. After lots of testing, I found that the 20 piece packs fit perfectly in this air fryer, with no problems. 400 degrees on air fry for 5 minutes, turn them, and 4 minutes more, and they are perfect. You are so clear, and informative, and love your sense of humor! It's been hard to find air fry recipes for FRESH as opposed to frozen foods. Thank You!

    Thank you for taking the time to review this wonderful air fryer. I have the exact same model. It’s been working wonderfully for 2 years now. It cooks everything I put in it perfectly…burgers, bacon, steaks, chicken, fish, and other seafood, even canned cinnamon rolls and biscuits. I use the bake setting for the seafood and breads because it seems to be less drying (if that makes sense). Prior to having the Vortex, I would bake my bacon in the oven because I couldn’t stand the greasy mess of frying it in a skillet. The Vortex is a total timer saver in that it cuts down on mess and clean up. I love it! 💕💗

    • @karunald
      @karunald 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What do you do about this Forced preheat issue? It doesn't indicate the time of the process so you can do math re total time. If cooking ends and you decide you want more - you have to go through PREHEAT again.
      Do I have to stand there baby sit like this?

    I used to be a product manager for a small kitchen appliances brand. And I can say, from an expert point of view, this was an excellent review. The only person online who discussed the pros and cons of having the inner basket vs just the tray.
    The reason why they put so many different functions is so they can say “5-in-1”! I would put labels next to them and use them as pre-sets: “fries”, “roast meat”, “pizza” etc
    I know instant pot didn’t pay you, but they really should because I’m going out to buy one now.

    I am so pleased that I finally bought an air fryer - and especially pleased that I paid attention to the positive reviews of other users, and decided on this one th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . It is just perfect for the two of us, and takes up very little space on my small countertop. I roasted salmon filets for dinner tonight and they were the best ever - slightly crispy on the outside but moist inside. Best of all, no smelly kitchen or difficult clean-up. My only complaint would be the lack of even a few printed recipes to get started. My generation does not find it easy to access the QR code and use the smart phone app. I bought a recipe book instead, which gave me the confidence to experiment.

    Excellent review. It seem that we can repurpose the buttons to our favorite dishes. One for wings. 2nd for frys 3 for chicken roast 4th for roasted veggies. That would make more sense to me.... they have pre-program settlings for microwave ovens. If they had the capability that would make things so much easier.

    Good evening and thank you for this very comprehensive review which was very helpful in my decision to buy this model air fryer. My Vortex AF arrives on Thursday - Yipee!! During my research into different brands I came across this paragraph: "" If you're looking for ease of use in your home, you'll want a fryer with a wattage between 1500W and 1800W. The Cosori uses 1700 Watts of power and has a temperature range of 170 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The Instant Vortex has a temperature range of 95 - 400 degrees and DRAWS 1500-1700 WATTS OF POWER.11 Jul 2022"" and I wonder if the variance across the wattage might be why the Vortex has a selection of "function" buttons? I could well be way off the mark here though! Thank you again for a super review. Best wishes - Marion in the UK.

    I agree with you; all cooking appliances have a heating element and most have a fan. How you get the best end results depends on a person's ability to master the quirks of each idividual appliance. Like you I also feel the most important and useful qualities to look for are: the amount of food it holds and whether or not the volume of it's noise matters. Your quest to use your own money for all of these appliances and testing them so you can give us just the facts, free of the sales pitch given in the advertisementing, is such a blessing. Thank you.

    When I first saw your video I had a 4 qt instant vortex air fryer, but in almost 3 years it gave up the ghost and I tried to repair it, but where the possible components are that can be repaired or replaced they don't make it easy to get to with no screws in the top. So I'm buying a 6 qt now. Hope it lasts 3 years at least like the 4 qt.

    Hi, The different buttons are just presets. So if you press each one the time and temp changes showing you the recommended temp for each function, then it's up to you to decide to alter them. The face plate would be pretty boring with just air fry, time, temp, cancel and start but realistically that's what it should have. I personally think you should be able to alter fan speed and for dehydrating lower the temp to as low as 30c (86f) for real dehydrating. I own this air fryer and no matter what i cook cakes, roasts, chooks, fries etc, I just use the air fry button.

    While the preset buttons (Air Fry, Roast, Bake and Reheat) do not change the way this device cooks, they do have a purpose because you will have to make none or less temperature / time adjustments according to the cooking type. I agree that it's little useful.

      @@htz70 I have tried the ninja and I don’t like it as it doesn’t have a pre set heat and it seems louder. Mine is fairly quiet, it doesn’t throw a lot of heat out the back, the basket pulls out nicely- you don’t need to push a button or lift the handle. It’s a deep square basket and can easily fit a medium size roast, or a small chicken . It’s easy to read, gives the warning beep when it’s time to turn the food…. Once you get use to it, it’s basically idiot proof. You can change the setting with a knob rather then pushing buttons , and its easy to read. The bottom tray is easy to removed, it has a ring, rather the holes to lift with. Very easy to clean. The one con I have, the silicon feet that help to secure it in place, are too easy to remove when washing and a real bugger to put back on. I didn’t have much of a learning curve with it… I. Have used my ex’s as well, I can’t remember the name of it , but it’s from Costco - and it’s all button - it’s a little more fussy to use- but it has a large basket( but the tray has finger holes for removal- and with arthritis it isn’t quite as easy to remove ).

All over, I love this fryer and already bought from Amazon a 2 set silicon baskets & mitts. Plus a pack of square parchment paper baskets. I accidently overheated an underdone steak piece. Should have tried reheat. Still experimenting.

    I have this unit. I would have preferred a Cosori but this is what the store had. This is a good review. I find it annoying that you can't turn off the preheat and shake warnings. Too much senseless beeping. I just put the food in and come back when all the beeping stops, I would prefer an inner basket so I could dump the food onto a plate easily. Other than that, I think this unit is fine. The extra buttons are just a marketing gimmick imo. I'm not exactly using it to its' full potential so far because I mostly use it to toast English muffins and cook pizza rolls.

    Heat produced is equal to the square of the current. According to a friend who repairs small equipment the current value varies according to settings. This is more evident with thicker meats than a single toast. The speed of the fan is constant. With Instant Omni toaster oven speed can also be varied as well temp on the fly.

    • @gvpsaigvpruknar2315
      @gvpsaigvpruknar2315 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own instant air fryer oven. It seems with the higher speed fan heat circulation seems to be better . Cooking trays with slotted openings allow hot air to move from bottom to top. The feature telling to exchange tray positions is also good.

    When you do the test, as per the manual, make sure to do it outside the house. If you do it in the house (like I did) you will regret it. It puts off a very strong hot plastic smell. I found that putting it outside in the sun for a few days helped to reduce the smell. I also ran the test about 20 times while it was outside. I normally would have returned it, but I liked the rest of it. So I tried to get rid of the smell. It is now down to a tolerable level, but not gone completely. I have only had it a week, so I hope that the smell will continue to lessen.

      Hello Ronald. Many people complained about that smell. I have that exact same Vortex oven as described above and I have not had a smell issue at all. Some people said it was due to some hidden packaging inside. So check it out all over. Check out every small little space you can find. Also turn it on its head to check if there is any wrapping on the element or near it. Hope you come right. All the best from South Africa.

    • @ronaldkelley2053
      @ronaldkelley2053 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did check for un-removed packing material and there was none. The smell was definitely from the plastic parts of the fryer. It is as if it wasn’t properly cured. The smell has completely gone away now and the fryer works great. I still recommend that the first time the fryer is used or tested to do it outside, just in case.

      @ronaldkelley2053 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@htz70 I can’t give you the number of minutes. Like I said, I left it outside on my patio in the sun for about a week and ran the test around 20 times during that time. The smell lessened enough that I brought it inside and have been using it everyday now for a couple of months. It works great, easy to clean and it no longer smells. No plastic smell at all now. Hope this helps you.

    Excellent review. You answered my question as to the different functions since the manual didn't mention it. I have this same unit and I love it. I have cooked everything from steak, hamburgers, tater tots, fish and it did an excellent job on all of them. So much space you could fit 3x 9 ounce steaks on it with no problem. The only thing that I couldn't get to ccok properly was crab cakes which are difficult to begin with. All in all this thing is excellent and you won't regret your purchase.

      I just hold the tray in place with tongues and dump the contents out. I’m too impatient sometimes to take things out individually with tongues! Lol But I personally rather this than the snap basket. Have heard of instances of basket hinge malfunctioning and I don’t want to have to deal with another part.

    Thank you, great review. This is the reason I'm looking for a non-digital air fryer with a timer and temperature dial only. You don't need all that other stuff and it's less to eventually go wrong. To me, digital controls and heat are a very bad mix. Now to find a square one that is nondigital.

    I think the reason why you don’t see the difference for the pre-set is, you actually used one type of food (which is a slice of bread) to air fry, bake and roast! I think you should try these pre-sets with the proper type of food. Let’s say, make a cake to bake, fries or chicken wings to air fry and veggies to roast. I bet you’ll see the difference. 😜
