My hair has an identical curl pattern but always look dry. I stole your techniques and layering of leave in, curl cream, Big Poppa gel -- but with different products and had equally ✨glossy✨ fabulous results. You're a Godsend
You made me give Hawaiian Silky 14 n 1 a second chance. I LOVE IT! The first. Time I tried it was some years ago and this was in the midst of the curly girl method (cowashing with little to no actual shampooeing) so I had taken it out of the rotation due to the mineral oil in the ingredients. This product is very moisturizing and softening. I shampoo once a week so no problems over here! week so
That is so awesome to hear! That’s been my exact experience with it too. Plus it plays well with other products which is so nice. I think the key to using any product or even oil for that matter is to just make sure you properly wash your hair routinely. Thank you for sharing your thoughts because we all learn from each other! 💖🥰😘
Your hair looks great. I've been loving the Hawaiian silky 14 in 1. I tried it back in the day, but didn't pick it up again. I now have a better idea of how to use products and what I'm trying to accomplish.
It's so good and I’m right there with you on feeling like I have a better understanding of products and the utilization of them now. I feel like we are always learning along this natural hair journey. 💖
Enjoyed watching!!! Loving the cut!! Even when short, styling takes time. I big shopped over 3ft of hair three years ago. Each year I’ve been cutting my hair into an ultra short pixie cut after it’s grown out for a year down to a half inch to prepare for returning to work before the school year begin. I decided to allow my hair to grow out but now after watching your video . . . I am ready to chop again! In one year, my hair has grown almost shoulder length. I don’t know if I want to deal with the time it takes to style when it gets long.
Wow your hair grows super fast! Sis I ain’t gonna lie to you, I miss my longer hair and think I want it back. However, I’m dead set on enjoying every single moment of my short hair experience! 😍
I use Moroccan oil hydrating mask & it’s so good! Definitely going to try that leave in! I’ve never use to use leave in conditioners but I’m realizing how important it is!
Aww thank you so very much Luv! I love it too but I miss my longer hair at times. 😅 There are many Pros & Cons to short and long hair. I’m somewhere in the middle with both. 💖
Thank you Luv! 🥰July makes 3 months since I did my actual Big Chop and I feel like it really has grown a lot since then. I’m very thankful for that too! 💖🙏🏽
Your hair is so gorgeous! You can put anything in your hair and it will still turn out gorgeous😊. Also, in my opinion, I think you should keep it short to medium length. But whatever your preference 😊
Aww thank you so much!! 😍 I am loving it short but I can’t but help miss my longer hair too. Ugh, it’s such a hard decision but luckily I got plenty of time! 😆
So beautiful! The ease at which you can get through it makes me want to cut my hair lol!! I’m trying the Hawaiian silky but will give the other two products a try.
I honestly get so torn about having short hair. Some days I absolutely love it and other days I miss my longer hair a ton! But girl the ease of washing and styling it is AMAZING!!!! Lol 😂 I don’t mind even doing my hair each week because it’s so easy and quick to do. 😅
Thank you for this! After you shampoo and condition, do you towel dry before applying your products? My hair is usually soaking wet, but I'm afraid that if I use a towel I'll mess up the curls. What do you do? Thanks,
I towel dry now because my hair seems to do really well when styling on damp hair. My curls clump nice once I add in my products and I sometimes use a 3 row comb. 💕
Great video as always. Love how this combo turned out on you. Question: I may have missed you talking about this. Did you stop using UFD curly magic and ICH altogether? And why? Just curious and nosey❤😅. Thank you!
Yes I did Luv, because I became allergic to both of them. So that’s why you don’t see me using them anymore. Plus, I’ve also let go of any of the Black Girl Curls product recommendations because they are no longer a trustworthy source for me. 🙅🏽♀️😝
Have you tried the twelve 12 line? Hands down absolute love better than all the brands I have ever tried. The gel is not a strong hold(no crunch) but yet my curls held up. I didn’t think I’d like it because it had that marshmallow root in the gel. Yet I love this gel.
No I’ve never tried it but it sounds awesome! 🤩 The only issue for me is I believe I’m allergic to marshmallow root. 😩 I’m going to still look it up though and thank you! 💖🥰
Did you ever try UFD Extra Butter or UFD SuperCurl as leave ins under UFD Curly Magic? (like it says on the Curly Magic bottle) just wondering? Thanks!
Great question! Curly Magic changed their formula from the original one and on the original bottle it didn’t recommend a leave in. By the time it did, I believe I had already stopped using it because I found out I was allergic to it.
Thanks for this tutorial! Are you air drying or sitting under a dryer/using an diffuser? Trying to determine the best method for drying, but after following the no oils/butter method and sitting under the dryer with a gel..im a little scorned.
Ugh I feel you! It’s so confusing now after following the no oils and butters crap! I’m honestly still trying to figure that part out. So I have been mostly air drying but I’ve also diffused my hair a little here and there. My only concern with air drying is I don’t want to develop any scalp issues by keeping my scalp damp for too long. I’ll continue to share what I’m doing as I continue to work my way through it. I’d love to know what you decide to do too. 💖
Are you not getting build up from the mineral oil in the Hawaiian Silky product? Just wondering, because build up causes dryness in my hair. Oops, you just said it, my strands are very fine thus the build up.
So far I haven’t noticed any build up but I also wash my hair 1-2 times per week with shampoo. Not to mention, I’ve also been playing around with adding oil in my hair. I’m not 100% sure on the best way to implement it yet but I will share that information with y’all soon. The reason I bring it up is, I would think that I would have more potential for build up from adding in oil too. However, I’ve only had a very positive experience thus far with everything I’m using. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it and let y’all know if I notice anything negative. Great question and thanks for asking it! 🥰
I’m curious would you ever consider an all Doux combo like their leave in fresh to def or dear mama , their cream and then big poppa? I’m still getting more and more into using their products in a styling lineup as they just perform so well togeteher. And of course I’m nosy 😂
So funny you should ask that because I definitely have been thinking about it! 👀😆The only thing stopping me is I’m trying to use up some of the stuff I have first. 😅
@@nicoleroyster3202 I was surprised at how much I’ve been enjoying the fresh to def. It has just a perfect balance of moisture and light enough oils that my scalp doesn’t feel itchy and have a ton of build up.
Girl don’t tell me that cuz my butt will be at the store today getting some! 👀🤦🏽♀️🤣 How’s the hair feel with them both in it. Does it soften up the hold on the Big Poppa some? 💖
No they are totally different! Don’t let the glycerin in the Alikay fool you. It has some crazy hold! I’m sure the hold in it is probably different if you live in a humid climate though. So take that into consideration too. 💖
Hi Shelly! Question, what do you put in your hair when you blow dry your hair? Do you use that spray leave in before blow drying? Also, do you have a favorite blow dryer you use? I need to get one. Do you have an Amazon page I couldn't find. Thanks so much!😊
Hey Luv! 🥰 I just want to clarify so I know what you’re asking me. Are you asking what I put in my hair when I blow dry it out for a straight style? If so, I just Redken Blow Out Jelly and or their heat protectant. For a blow dryer I use the Dyson but it’s pricey but I really like it! I do have an Amazon store and here is the link: Check out this page from shelly.v.247 www.amazon.com/shop/shelly.v.247?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_aipsfshop_aipsfshelly.v.247_4YKNRRXM3AR6538XNCSZ&language=en_US I hope all of that helps. 💖
I’m not a professional but I personally would think it’d be very beneficial because you’d be adding hydration each day which is easily loss. I think the important thing is to make sure you’re using something that traps in the hydration from the water so it keeps it moisturized. 💖
The Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14-in-1 Leave In Conditioner has formaldehyde in it listed under the name DMDM hydantoin. You should look into that not healthy for the scalp and hair especially long term
Haha, so I’ve been washing and resetting my hair about every 2-3 days. It takes me about 15 minutes to style it. Sometimes a little longer if I’m being extra about it lol. 😂 Also, it takes about 5 minutes to wash and condition it. Once weekly I add in a deep conditioning treatment. I use a shower cap and a heated cap for 30 minutes. 💖
