  • Gas tank removal, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Triumph, Harley Davidson. These steps are pretty similar in all the other brands I just mentioned, there just maybe a few extra steps or different type of bolts used for it. In this Video I show you the steps on taking off the gas tank for a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650r. I hope you Enjoy.

*I am by no means a mechanic and if you do follow any of what I say, take it will a grain of salt! I am living life and enjoying learning new things by actually doing them! Most of this stuff is new to me.
*Motorcycle and Car OEM service manual tells you everything and anything about your vehicle. You can sometimes find them free online, but I highly recommend purchasing a hardcopy.

Including turning the tank bolt wrong direction first then loosen it

My lord and saviour!! I need to access my spark plugs but I had no idea you could just lift it off. For some reason I though it'd drain all the way if I took it off.

I had an old carbureted sport bike I had to change the petcock on, so I was expecting it to just dump fuel everywhere as soon as the line was disconnected. Very happy to know that I won’t need to drain my tank on my new bike.

Silly question but I am a complete novice... what was the black tube connected too... I have a ticking sound on my bike and need to change the spark plug just to see if it has a faulty connection... I have to add it has died a couple of times at traffic lights too

Just bought an '09 Versys, and the sucker stalls when twisting throttle, but will catch and take off. All gears.

Did you figure out the issue ? Mine was literally doing the same and just found out today its because of a bad fuel pump and bad injectors caused by rust in the gas tank. Hopefully that fixes my problem

This video was so helpful!!!! Is it normal for the bit that spits out gas to keep leaking? I pulled the red tab as you said and when I pulled it off it did squirt gas but kept going until I turned it on its side

Red tab was so old on mine it flew off now my gas leaks whats the name of the tab? So i can probably get another or do i have to replace the whole tube

@@JoeGz I have no idea. I think my fuel pump needs to be replaced because it's not normal for it to leak out gas like that. should be just like the video

+HUNK It ended up being 2 sensors, well thats what the shop told me. It was the tip over sensor and a sensor inside the actual engine. (said they changed the tip over one because they had a spare sitting around, not really sure).

It ended up being some type of sensor/relay. I dropped it off at a shop and they sort of “figured it out” but never told me what they did.(This was after waiting for 8-9 weeks). They went out of business shortly after.
