I always make sure to use Red Kote on the inside of the tank after the vinegar treatment for the rust. The Red Kote will seal the inside of the tank and prevent rust from happening again.
What I do for dirty tanks but can also work decently for rust is dump in a few hundred to about 1000 bbs depending on the size of the tank and spray in a good amount of carb cleaner and shake the tank. Bbs are cheap for you non gun owners you can buy several thousand for about $10 this works better then nuts or rocks. Also they are only .177 of a inch in diameter so they can get into almost any spot in the tank to knock crud loose
seriously thank god i found this channel its seriously one of my favourites not only do you make helpful videos but you add amazing humour to it. This is how people need to make videos hope you blow up even more :D
You need to get a light. You don't need to neutralize vinegar, just rinse with water. Alcohol does not absorb water it displaces it because it is heavier than water. You can use an air hose, a hair drier, or even a heat gun.
I only was able to pay attention to half of the video. I was too busy noticing that your tools are all placed in the wrong spot 😂. Great Video! I will try the vinegar and baking soda after🫡
Very nice vid only thing with me I noticed that if I left the vinegar in for about a week it was less likely to flash rust as compared to a few days.Oh and the nerf missile firing bike you made for bikes & beards was unbelievable !
MUCH BETTER METHOD: If tank interior is heavily rusted then fill tank 1/2 full with abrasive or clean gravel. Double seal all holes with Duct tape and rubber compression plugs. Wrap tank in two heavy moving blankets and rope or zipties. Then tumble tank for 2 -5 hours in a clothes dryer to remove all loose scale. Tumbling is a slow process. Then wash inside of the tank with a Degreaser like 409 and distilled water. Rinse well. Evaporust is reusable, no odor, nontoxic and does not harm metal or paint. So Evaporust in the long run is way cheaper than one use vinegar. Evaporust will not cause flash re-rust if you rinse with distilled water. Let dry and treat with interior with OSPHO. Ospho is also reusable. Ospho is special mild Phosphoric acid that turns the metal surface into Iron Phosphate. Iron Phosphate will not rust. Rinse well with a gallon or two of Distilled water. Use a hair dryer to dry out the tank fast. Seal the tank: Plug all holes except one. Fill tank with 1/8 to 1/4 full of silver or white POR. (Do not use black POR) Rotate the tank several times to coat the inside and dump out the excess POR. Let harden overnight. WILL NEVER RUST AGAIN. Exterior: Wipe with Ospho Three times. then apply POR. NOTE: Tap water has minerals that promote the formation of rust. DO NOT USE TAP WATER.
I am thinking of doing electrolysis and immediately flushing with gasoline/alcohol, emptying, and filling a thing or two of marvel mystery oil in and then finally shaking and draining. thoughts?
Keep fuel in it and you will be fine.Problem is people drain the fuel and winter store never do that.Always fill full and put gas stabilizer in it and you can go months with no rusting.
Welp the washers and what not was a great idea. Got antly great ideas ad y9 how to remove them from a VTX tank afterwards. A magnet is working out and i cant seem to get at em with a shop-vac hose. Its an 1800 V-twin with Vance & Hines drag pipes...she gonna sound like a baby rattle at stop lights😅
So someone told me to use baking soda with vinegar to clean it. I guess because the fizz helps idk but I just put four gallons of vinegar in my tank and while adding some baking soda I thought to myself "wait a minute if it neutralizes the acid.." Did I just waste 4 gallons of vinegar because I neutralized it with baking soda and now it's not going to work?

It takes forever to dry....but if you do it right the liner will last till the tank rusts damn near to pieces.

Problem with my tank is how to get them out! The top of the tank has a lip that prevents nuts, bolts, and bbs from coming out!
Magnet?
Shop vac

a local shop estimated me $600 to clean out a tank on my Honda that has been sitting for 3 years!! I can do this myself...THANKS!!

Awesome video, definitely saves me from buying the more pricey kits from the local moto shop!
Thanks Sparky!!
Nice job my Friend!!
I just found your channel. I come from Bikes and Beards.
I love how your tools match the lines on the wall behind you. 😂
Great video.
Keep it going.
Ha! I noticed that too, he may have done that on purpose.
Use the blower end of a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer to blow dry the inside of the tank.
Your best video yet, Cousin.
Love your energy and helpful advice. I'll keep watching as long as you make these!
Oh more is coming! It's only begun!
Helpful AND Hilarious! Love it! Thanks Sparky 😊
You don’t need to neutralize the acid with baking soda. Simply rinsing it well with water will get rid of the acid.
Really?
You clean your tank with water 🤔

You are a funny guy with good tips, thank you.
No bullshit, so nice
there’s a new fangled thing called a flashlight that you can shine into the tank so you can see e the full effect.

Sand in the tank. Attach a hand sander on the outside. The vibration will sand the rust.
Great editing!
Thanks for your nice video .for drying water, you may can use hairdryer.
30% vinigar works great
Nothing beats vinegar, baking soda. Don't forget to rinse it with distilled water
After removing the rust. How can I preserve the inside of the tank if It weren't to be used for fuel?
Keep fuel in it and you will be fine.Problem is people drain the fuel and winter store never do that.Always fill full and put gas stabilizer in it and you can go months with no rusting.
How much baking soda per gallon? I have a 5 gallon tank
This is no science project just use feeling😂
Funny video. I'm going to use your method😎
Boy did the humor in this video actually uplift me on a weird day thank you
Make for us a custom ABS gas tank please.

You drinking vinegar convinced me to turn all notifications on😂
TRY GREEN LABLE MONSTER ENERGY DRINK
Lol he's like more ingredients we can drink 😂😂😂alcohol
“and whats coke without rum…” you funny
Thanks…
Don't they make a sealant to go into the tank after the clean up to prevent rust.
They do, from Kreem, but I'm not a fan. Once you get it clean, keep gas in it and you should be good
The problem is, some gas at idiot stations, have water mixed and that's what usually screws up ur absolutely fine running vehicle.
@@SparkyMotobut you won’t always have a full tank?
My nose hairs burned just watching you drink that total, complete, entire gallon of vinegar

Coca cola is realy expensive in my country haha
Gotta try molasses!
I did, while it tasted better, it plugged up the central-rotor valve inside the crankcase sealing mechanism

Why did you sip the vinegar 🤣🤣🤣 that’s dedication
just do it..attempts at comdey slow it down too much.
just a tip, leave the beard underneath the cheek, not the end of the chin.
🤔 💩
Use electrolysis.
😅😅
Why does this guy’s vids not play nice? WTF?
