What you said about your sister-in-law & sourdough is also true about you & gardening! 8:50 "I'm so thankful I'm learning from somebody who knows what they're doing...if I was doing it on my own I'd probably be overwhelmed!" I can't tell you how many times you have de-overwhelmed me - planting potatoes, doing drip, cutting roses. Thanks!

You’ve got a glut of blackberries, I’ve got plums, so many plums all ripening at the same time. The branches are almost touching the floor even after thinning out the fruit to try to prevent this 😂 I’ll follow Susan’s lead and make plum jam this weekend

The bread looks great! Just a tip, the 'bonnets' are actually meant to go under the bread in the basket. You flour them well and they prevent the bread from getting stuck in the basket, and if it still sticks a little when you lift off the basket you can easily peel it away. You can cover the baskets with plastic wrap or waxed cloth to keep them from drying out.

Sorry for the dumb question but why would the baskets themselves “dry out”? I was also wondering if she did it that way so that the basket pattern would imprint the loaf. I actually loved the swirly look of the basket pattern on the dough when she was scoring.❤

Laura, thank you for being here today. I needed that time by the pond. It was so peaceful! I am a caregiver. My husband has dementia. You are a wonderful distraction for a few minutes. And furthermore it is just too hot for a 75 year old woman to garden here in north Texas.🌞 100+ temps here.

I am sending you so much love. I was my mom’s caregiver in her last 5 years of life, while she was suffering from dementia. It was a labor of love, but it was also exhausting. I am praying for you to have the strength to continue caring for your husband, with enough energy leftover to be able to care nicely for yourself, too. 🙏✨🩷 Stay well.

I love that you also love cooking. You're an accomplished gardener, obviously, but i love that you cook meals from scratch. It's healthier and a great way to utilize so much of what comes out of your gardens. 😊
I'm sure there are days when you've been in the garden all day and are dragging yourself into the kitchen for meal prep, but at least from some of your videos, you sound like you plan your meals pretty often, which is key. I'm guessing you also do several fix-it-and-forget-it slow cooker meals. 😊

The pink and purple combination is very soothing visually! Some areas with yellow and orange would be very rejuvenating and a nod to autumn arriving? And of course you could incorporate orange and red areas together! Fun tour! Do you think that the algae is less because of the shade provided by the lilly pads? It would be fun to see some small pond statues around the pond area! Maybe some silly frogs, dragonflies, turtles, tall egrets, and solar pretty lanterns covered with colored glass gems?

I love Sourdough. Homemade Sourdough. I can tell the difference from homemade vs store bought. I have a candida issue and when I make my own bread with my own yeast (Sourdough starter) it doesn't effect me in a negative way because that wild yeast has natural acids. Store bought yeast is just a very strong yeast and that's it.
You can also do many things with the Sourdough discard. I like to make crackers. That's usually my go too.
The way its explained for some reason Sourdough bread baking makes it intimidating and difficult. It's not. I promise it's not. There is a learning curve, but not nearly as difficult as some plants. 😂

Your garden is an oasis. So beautiful and peaceful looking. I'm glad I came across your channel. The tomatoes and peppers are so beautiful. Makes me want a tomato sandwich. You must have weddings in your garden it's so beautiful. Take care, Elaine in North Carolina.

I have wild blackberries on my property, but they are not quite ripe yet. SO SOUR! It's amazing how sweet they get with just an extra day in the sun. I wish I had a pond like yours to play in... I think I'd wade in it every day! The sour dough looks amazing. Problem is with making homemade bread -- I eat it, and eat it, and eat it.... Thanks, Laura, for your daily videos. It's been difficult getting together with friends due to health issues, so I spend some time with you. Now, I am going to find your video on Felcos and decide which pair to buy as a treat to myself!

I went to my local Denver Botanic Gardens this morning and there was a woman grooming water lilies and she was dragging a floating bin to put the clippings in. I told her she had a terrible job! LOL. My retirement dream.

It’s so amazing how abundant your gardens are! I have a blackberry plant that produces but the birds and squirrels clean it before I can harvest anything. I don’t mind though. Makes me feel good to feed nature (that’s what I tell myself)

Your beautiful mom is going to be so happy with the sweet berries you picked for her. If it were me picking, she would probably get one basket because they would all be in my belly 😂😋🙌
