My dad was passed out on the couch. I decided to take his car for a joy ride. Picked up a few friends some alcohol a little green and wouldn't you know it this song came on as we were toking and drinking. All those friends have passed on. Thanks for the memories both to Allman Brothers and my friends ❤

Takes me back to January, 1976. 18 years old, Riding in a lime-green Pinto, listening to Eat A Peach, with a 17-year old, long-haired boy beside me. Going to Carolina cause he's not old enough to get married in Georgia

i totally agree, they are ALL BAD ASS to the bone, hell back in the day, what 45-50 yrs back. they were da shit.
I've heard some stories, about the 'youngin' coming up.
and how they'lld send him to Dickey at all to show 'em long before, to teach 'em a few licks....how do you get that sound. they told 'em no boy you , you're doing it wrong. put lighter strings on that boy. come away w/ that sound. to hear them in 21st century, whatta rare gem. sure enuff them youngins got schooled by the masters themselves. i woulda loved to see them.

If you listen to his solo record ,"Let's All get together " you will hear many things .I always think of Betts ,as using the Diminished scale to get blue notes. In "Memory of Elizabeth Reed" he makes great use of the diminished . It is amazing how he makes the diminished fit so well in the context of major harmony .

Peter Dunbar non musicians will say it's nothing more than feeling and soul, but we musicians know better. He's actually mixing up the major scale with the mixolydian and also throwing in some jazzy little chromatic passing tones here and there. all very tasteful. superb guitar player.

RIP Duane, Berry, Butch and Gregg. This song, to me, with the twin guitars, represents the best of what the Allman Brothers brought to rock in the early 70s. Rock on, Dickie!

Tom Dillon Yes...you're 100% spot on! I 💜 the Allman Brother's. It's truly saddening that Duane, Berry, Gregg, and Butch are no longer with us. All gone way too soon. Rest in Eternal Peace. Gone, but never forgotten...their music will live on forever.

Imagine the skill, hand and finger strength, not to mention callouses, it takes to play such clean, fast notes on those highest frets, where the guitar neck is attached to the body, for the length of time Betts did here. I don't understand how the greats, which Dickie Betts is one of the few, can play like this for hours, at a time, without having serious hand problems. It has to be a gift. Outstanding!!!
