Southern Rock and Roll. I remember them playing Tampa back in '72 and they didn't stop for 4 1/2 almost 5 hours. Drum solo was 50 mins of just a$$ kicking battle of the skins. The band went back stage to snort some lines and drink a beer. Acid was FINE and the ride home in my Formula S Barracuda was exceptionally a Blast.
Actually it was on the Eat a Peach record but that and other songs on it came from the Filmore concert. Fillmore East was the best live record ever though.

Superb performance!! Dickey’s on fire. Such a powerful presence!! I bet I’ve watched this a hundred times and just can’t get enough!!!

Dicky Betts is the most underrated guitar player ever. Only Dicky could pick up a slide and learn Duane's parts in short time and do a damn good job at it and still cover his own parts. And he did this for quite a while too. ABB had two all time greats at guitar.
I watched them play every weekend at The Shell in Overton Park in Memphis TN back in the early 70's. Can't beat this band. I been to many concerts back in my day, that's what ya did. #1 all the way.
wow..this is the music I was raised and cut my teeth on. I wish Dickie the best. I would like to just go say hello to him some time and thank him for the music. He is aging and suffering memory loss. Can't stop the hands of time. Sadly we all live to die.
not enough people givin warren the love he deserves here, awesome mix of slide and fretting on this track. this showcases some of the last good "dickey era" of allman.
Love Warren Hanes and Gov’t Muel. He makes the Allman Bros. sound like they did when Duane was alive. I’m 67 now; was 15 for my first Allman Bros show at Fillmore West in SF. Ticket was about $4.00 or less and we got a poster of upcoming shows.
I'm 60 years old. Betts has always smoked it, Haynes and others aside. Dickey has his own style and sound, and nobody else can replicate it .You always know it's Dickey when you hear him. My hat's off to you, Dickie. I hope one day soon to be able to jam with you. If not in this world, then the next. Dickie WILL be back with ABB before all is said and done, guaranteed.
+Dogheadj I sure hope so - I'm a bit younger than you, but a huge fan of the Allmans. Sure wish today's music would have the same individuality that record labels put out 30-40 years ago1
Hi y'all, I'm 60 something I hear everything from tex-mex hip-hop harsh rap they call it music or a song then I get home and get back to earth! Love Y'all
I got to see them too -- Fillmore West opening for Buddy Guy and BB King. It was their first appearance on the West Coast, January 1970. They smoked of course. Betts and Allman -- in my opinion, the best guitar duo in rock history.
+Felipe Ferreira Absolutely. But after seeing all the post Duane lineups..as much as I love Derek, Jack Pearson, Oteil etc..this was far and away the best post Duane/Berry lineup
The Allman Brothers Band are truly brothers in heart, mind and, especially, soul shine. A great energy for us all to learn how to play well with others. 💚
I love your comment. Thank you for putting the words to what we all see and hear and feel justy below the surface. BROTHERHOOD> It makes me happy to be human.
Cheeze is crust! THAT is one of the best renditions, of one of the best numbers, performed by easily one of the best collection of musicians, ever to grace our planet with their all-too painfully short place in time on Mother Earth!
I've been a Southern Rock junkie all my 58 years. Started with Skynyrd, Allman brothers, Marshall Tucker band, and so on. Today's music has not much talent involved... OLD GUYS RULE!!!
Allman Brothers and Marshall Tucker.....thanks for reminding me. Getting old too. 65 and still enjoying these great sounds. James Arness of GUNSMOKE was my father's best friend and after US Army we'd visit the TV sets. I remember when his daughter committed suicide after break up with Gregg. I attended Santa Monica High school and Pacific Palisades Malibu. Knew many great players 'up and coming'. We'd sneak in to WHISKEY-A-GO-GO on Sunset BLvd. at age 15. Crazy Hippies......stay cool dude
This band...will always hold a special corner in my heart. Cut my teeth on these guys,"beginnings" to be exact, saw them multiple times as a youth. Part of my life daily for the majority of my existence. The reason I started playing music myself. True legends if ever was a thing. Just cant say enough good things about this band. Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic but I really love this band.
If this isn't bad -ass PURE hard-core American Southern Rock and Roll at it's finest, I don't know what is. I love the Allman Bros. Band. I'm 59, went to a few of their concerts over the years
+Steve Allen yup me too...wtf did the years go man? glad to hear ya still rockin. I myself listen to all kinda music, but a lot of Neil Young, got om a kick with john Kay Steppenwolf (;snowblind friend) here lately, as I lost yet another dear friend to the life.
+Dena Henry I also saw Gregg open for SRV in 1990..at the old pier 84 concerts here in NY. Holy crap what a night that was. Gregg was killin it with Dangerous Dan on gtr ..and than Stevie Ray came out and literally opened up the heavens and put on one of my all time fave concerts that I've ever seen. I would put Stevie Ray up there with Duane and Dickey..as easily one of the greatest gtr players ever. My lord I can't even imagine all the music Duane and Stevie Ray had left in them. To me...they're deaths so early...Make up some of the hugest losses to music and humanity that we'll ever know. Life can be so unfair to take these giants when they were so young and had so much left to give/Share!!
@@bwanna23 That's incredible. I had to pay three times to see Betts perform with the ABB. All three shows were on the _Enlightened Rogues_ tour, two in MA and one in RI. He played amazingly well.
This is killer. One Way Out has been a favorite of mine forever. Betts is totally on top of this. Great drumming break and very well shot and directed video. Bravo.
I took my daughter a few years ago to see the Allmans at Peachfest . I was 54 or so , her , 30 I think. At the first notes of "Please Call Home" her face was a stream of tears . This music is a soundtrack really of our lives over the past 40 + years . Never miss a chance to see your favorites. It may not be there tomorrow.
One way Out, Greg I hope your at home and free! Thanks a lot Brothers Allman's for giving us something in life here and this lets us know theirs life here after.
The Allman Brothers used to play every Friday night on the UT Strip at Friday's Child in knoxville TN way back in the 70s & 80s. Man I cherish those days.. totally awesome! Best southern rock 'n roll band ever! RIP brother Gregg.
One of the best bands to see live !!!! When everybody played an instrument,no dancers just jamming through the night!!! What a time for live bands ,highschool dances had bands real musicians!!!!
ABB - representing everything that's good in the deep South. Greg's whiskey/southern slang voice, awesome drumming, solid base. Oh yeah - and undoubtedly the best electric duo to ever grace the stage. What a performance....what a band!
This has got to be my favorite version of " One Way Out". I just wish the cameraman knew that when someone is doing a lead guitar solo, you focus the camera on them and do some zooming in on just the guitar. I love watching Dickey play. Damn, he can burn it up !!
Have to say I like the "Live At The Fillmore East" version better! I'm inclined to believe that the audio was better produced comparing the two live recordings! In fact, even though studio albums on vinyl are cleaner recordings, I tend to prefer the raw, purely performed versions of most of the songs on L @ T F E album moreover the later studio versions! Agree with your cameraman observation!
There are multiple camera operators and they typically do what the video director tells them to. If the budget is big enough they will record each camera feed and edit them later.
used to call the radio station, tell em to play 'Statesboro blues" WAyyyyyy back in 70's when they would actually do that for ya, and give us a shout out by name sometimes lol.
Nowadays, most radio stations are owned by huge corporate conglomerates. They may have a single programing director, who sets a play list for all of their stations across the country. Finding great music today is like listening to the main stream news media. All you get is a bunch of BS.
Sigh you speak of a bygone America of my youth when kids could safely ride their bikes all day around town. I used to call my Philly hometown station 93 WMMR for the stones and allmans all the time and they would actually play it if you got through.
Detroit so loved the Allman Brothers Blues band. They came into town, Eastown Theatre, and came back a dozen times through-out that era. Pine Knob, Chrisler Arena, whereever..........and simply put standing crowds, back in their seats...............no joke rock band from an era where they thrived on the audience, not the Billboard rating...........and drank in the parking lot with anybody who was drinking....
Saw moody blues all the acid heads. Sitting nobody in the stand or out of there seats. Great night. Next night saw the original Allman brothers. Place was jammed. Couldn't get near the stage. The crowd were mostly bikers and freaks. I couldn't believe that we're that many different people in Chicago. Glory days.
Allman Brothers, will for ever live in the Hearts of fan who loved them . Remember Watkins Glen, NY, 1973 . Live on Greg ,and Live forever ALLMAN BROTHERS.
first time I saw these kick-ass fukers was 1969 or 70, In Raleigh, NC @ the Memorial Auditorium. barely had heard of them, but when I poured what was left of me out the door ... a convert for life! THE BEST SOUTHERN ROCK EVER!

To the 240 thumbs down: Get A Clue! Clips like these are true gems and we are lucky to have them. Thank you tonfoi
Right on and fuck yeah give it up for an all time GREAT BAND ,. !!!!!
Idots breed idots
Can't all have a 'taste ' for or ear for classic guitar work from geniuses and true bluesman
transgeners
was there .. came here
Dicky Betts is the most underrated guitar player ever. Only Dicky could pick up a slide and learn Duane's parts in short time and do a damn good job at it and still cover his own parts. And he did this for quite a while too. ABB had two all time greats at guitar.
So true-I got to spend time with them-Dicky is a great acoustic picker also.
I agree 100%
Dickey Betts made the country rock genre come alive with his brilliant guitar work. Legend.
Every time I watch this video I have to stop and catch my breath. OUTSTANDING!!
-Joe
Same!!
There is only one band called the Allman Bros and one guitarist named Dickie Betts; the iconic sound of an entire generation, you guys are the best!

A les paul genius dickie Betts rip to him and srv and Duane
Awesome
Back in the day when bands knew how to make great music.
tres drummers ?
They are on fire! We are watching an old, blurry video, but the shear talent shines through and 3.5 million views prove it. Pure talent!!!
Unequaled & unreplicated, one of mainstays of the 70's!!!
RIP Dickey- Scotty Scott- The Southern Boys Band. You were one of the all time greats!!!
Bad assess!
Best Blues Rock of all time! Seen them several times in the 80s-90s. Amazing!
I just love Dickie Betts' lead playing. 😍 Gorgeous!
Dicky to us few
I watched them play every weekend at The Shell in Overton Park in Memphis TN back in the early 70's. Can't beat this band. I been to many concerts back in my day, that's what ya did. #1 all the way.
The greatest band of all time. Warren was a amazing replacement. WOW!!!
Yes Warren was
Betts was IMO played stronger chords that just rocked. Warren was a bit bluesy ❤❤❤❤❤
Warren was so young!
Surely that's not Warren, but Dan Toler. They do look alike.
My favorite band of all time. Always will be for this old southern woman.
R.I.P Greg Allman. Your memory will live on through your music.
Yes and w ill never die!!¡. The Greatest of all bands in mysoutherngirl eyes !!!!♥️
Fuckin Awesome
One way out ...eat a peach..
Anothrr great Lp..
Know i am old but rock lives Forever 66yrs
K
wow..this is the music I was raised and cut my teeth on. I wish Dickie the best. I would like to just go say hello to him some time and thank him for the music. He is aging and suffering memory loss. Can't stop the hands of time. Sadly we all live to die.
Dickey's legacy is amazing. Time waits for no one, but I wish him well!
Death is the mother of beauty........
Yeah he and his wife live in Jacksonville,Fla and we sure love Dickie here :)
Best bad ass southern Rock band period
not enough people givin warren the love he deserves here, awesome mix of slide and fretting on this track. this showcases some of the last good "dickey era" of allman.
+Dogheadj
I sure hope so - I'm a bit younger than you, but a huge fan of the Allmans. Sure wish today's music would have the same individuality that record labels put out 30-40 years ago1
+Dogheadj Oh yeah, I'd love to see him play with Warren again.
+Dogheadj
sound like he was listening to some VH before this show
gregg aint looking too good bro, I hope you're right.
Dogheadj :(
Hi y'all, I'm 60 something I hear everything from tex-mex hip-hop harsh rap they call it music or a song then I get home and get back to earth! Love Y'all
And to think they had Dickie AND Duane in one band at the same time! Both in the top tier of rock guitarists.
I got to see them too -- Fillmore West opening for Buddy Guy and BB King. It was their first appearance on the West Coast, January 1970. They smoked of course. Betts and Allman -- in my opinion, the best guitar duo in rock history.
Mark Kelly I believe ABB had a top shelf guitar duo in every single formation. try to name a regular guitarist that lined up this band.
Felipe Ferreira True.
Yup..best one two punch of badass double gtr band's ever!!
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 You’re such amazing 😉 Kindly drop me your hangout just to get i touch with you 💕
Cheeze is crust! THAT is one of the best renditions, of one of the best numbers, performed by easily one of the best collection of musicians, ever to grace our planet with their all-too painfully short place in time on Mother Earth!
RIP MR. Gregory LeNoir "Gregg" Allman. Thank you for so many Great songs. Gonna Miss YA MAN!
I've been a Southern Rock junkie all my 58 years. Started with Skynyrd, Allman brothers, Marshall Tucker band, and so on. Today's music has not much talent involved... OLD GUYS RULE!!!
And gals!
Agree
Blackberry Smoke???
I totally Agree
Greg AND Stevie Ray? Sweet baby Jesus!
Steve Allen qq
+Dena Henry I also saw Gregg open for SRV in 1990..at the old pier 84 concerts here in NY. Holy crap what a night that was. Gregg was killin it with Dangerous Dan on gtr
..and than Stevie Ray came out and literally opened up the heavens and put on one of my all time fave concerts that I've ever seen.
That was not long before SRV died, right?
I saw Dickie Betts play for 3 hours in a little park about 200 feet outside my back door.
Willow Branch?
YOU WERE SEEING MAGIC BUD
When?
@@amerocker I think it was around '05-06' Central Parklet, State College, PA
@@bwanna23 That's incredible. I had to pay three times to see Betts perform with the ABB. All three shows were on the _Enlightened Rogues_ tour, two in MA and one in RI. He played amazingly well.
Never get tired of listening to this band..AWESONME!!!
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 You’re such amazing 😉 Kindly drop me your hangout just to get i touch with you 💯❤️
"When you're down and out, when your heart is weary" Get you some Brothers!
Boy I miss Gregg
Jill Miller no doubt a monstrous loss. Monumental...
This is killer. One Way Out has been a favorite of mine forever. Betts is totally on top of this. Great drumming break and very well shot and directed video. Bravo.
I especially appreciated the attention givens to the drummers.
This may be right up there with the Fillmore version. Perfect tempo. There will never be another band like this again.
It may not be there tomorrow.
what is your prob???
What do you mean Frank?
Dickey Betts....one of the best ever! Great tone, great timing, great ear.....and doing these types of jams before just about anyone else!
Saw the Allmans live during this era. Wow, just Wow... Best concert I've ever been to! These guys came to PLAY- and play they did.
Oh! How sweet it is to step back in time. They were amazing entertainers & musicians! Awesome and Thank you♡☆♡
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 You’re such amazing 😉 Kindly drop me your hangout just to get i touch with you 💕
I saw them several times during this era. Dickey never disappoints
never missed a summer show since maybe 1978
Watching Dicky play gave me flash backs of watching my dad play guitar when I was a kid. All those facial expressions..
Dickey Betts! One of the best guitar players happy to live the life of a musician and not a star
Dickey Betts Yearbook ambition was "to be rock and roll star".......Done deal brother, thank you for the MAGIC!!!!
Man Dicky Betts never ceases to amaze me! RIP Brothers. See you on the other side.
I pray that we all seem them together again in concert on the other side. May they play on for all of us for all eternity.
One of the best bands to see live !!!! When everybody played an instrument,no dancers just jamming through the night!!! What a time for live bands ,highschool dances had bands real musicians!!!!
MAN I LUVD THESE GUYS AS A KID, DAMN I STILL DO AS AN OLD MAN!!!!!!!!
ABB - representing everything that's good in the deep South. Greg's whiskey/southern slang voice, awesome drumming, solid base. Oh yeah - and undoubtedly the best electric duo to ever grace the stage. What a performance....what a band!
well said. these guys are/were the only american band who could compete with - or even surpass - the great English 'blue eyed blues' bands.
I agree with everything you said brother…..
Betts at his finest! Effortlessly smokin that guitar!!
used to call the radio station, tell em to play 'Statesboro blues" WAyyyyyy back in 70's when they would actually do that for ya, and give us a shout out by name sometimes lol.
I WOULD HAVE OBLIGED AND PLAYED ANY ALLMAN BROTHERS REQUEST TO MY STATIONS LISTENERS.. FM 100 KJMO
RIP, Gregg...you guys were one of the finest!
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 You’re such amazing 😉 Kindly drop me your hangout just to get i touch with you 💕
Detroit so loved the Allman Brothers Blues band.
Glory days.
I was able to see the Allman Brother's Band three times. Each concert was AWESOME. I loved the band.
I also saw them multiple times and was NEVER disappointed!!😁😎😎😎
Allman Brothers, will for ever live in the Hearts of fan who loved them . Remember Watkins Glen, NY, 1973 . Live on Greg ,and Live forever ALLMAN BROTHERS.
first time I saw these kick-ass fukers was 1969 or 70, In Raleigh, NC @ the Memorial Auditorium. barely had heard of them, but when I poured what was left of me out the door ... a convert for life! THE BEST SOUTHERN ROCK EVER!
Hell yeah!! Dickie started it off with a bang! Then Warren did a great job with the slide. Very enjoyable!
I saw the Allman brothers back in the late 90s in Pittsburgh, Pa.
One of the best experiences of my life.
Dickie Betts is just amazing on the guitar. I love the Allman Bros. Dayyuum.
What gourgeous sound from Dickie Best!
One of the blessing. In my life. Is learning to play this song.
Allman Brothers rock!! Period.............Been a lifelong fan!
The Allman Brothers Band - One Way Out , Germany 1991
Fantastic ,The bigaining with the guitar and then at 300 the 3 drum solo is just amazing !!!!!!
Don’t you love ❤️ Dickey Betts this is awesome!!!

That guitar sounds and looks beautiful
One of my biggest music regrets, that I wasn't able to see the Allman brothers band with Greg and Dickie. Played the heck out of this album though. Dickie Betts is a remarkable guitar player.
