      I am a bass player born in Macon move to the south of Charlotte saw the unbelievable Allman Brothers at Carowinds Amusement Park Dickie and I believe Warren was playing and it's very exciting show put on by all including Greg we will miss them so much and hello jamo it's Phil Clark

      @@jhandle4196 I guess I meant more like "dual", the back and forth solos culminating usually in the melodic harmony lines... my favorite being the version of "Blue Sky" from I think the S.U.N.Y. show a month or so before Duane crashed his chopper..There are also about a dozen great versions of "Elizabeth Reed" all of which are worth hearing.

      No. Me and my crew are from the South - the Southern part of Bergen County in North Jersey! We were so into The Brothers and Skynyrd and Marshal Tucker and the Outlaws etc in the 70s that we might as well have been living in Macon Georgia. We were all in. 100%. We LOVED AND LIVED their music.

      Ha! I was thinking the very same thing about Paul. What an amazing life The Late Show provided him to be able to play with some of the best musicians on the planet!
      (After Eddie Van Halen passed away, Paul admitted he was his favorite guitarist to play with). ❤️🎶🎸

      Also Les Dudek should get some credit. But Dickey pulled it off. One of the best guitar instrumentals out there. Much harder to play unless you have the percussion and extra guitars. Chuck Leavell's playing was incredible as well. I shoot myself still for not going to see the last few shows they did. I saw them but without Dickey. Bass player I often play with saw the original ABB with Duane! Thanks god for music.

    I had a connection w/them and saw some great concerts. They are legendary but weren't played on the radio as much because their songs were so LONG a lot of stations just didn't play them, and Blues oriented songs were not as popular for pop stations. So album sales, concerts were their main gig. That's impressive in itself. Their range in music genre's is unique, epic and memorable. RIP Dickey and all those who have passed.

    Being an intense fan of rock and roll my entire life (almost 75 from SF) I can't think of any tune that I love as much as Jessica.

      They were so unique and that's why Southern Rock happened. They fused jazz, country, blues, rock n' roll, soul , etc. into their music and made original epic music.

    First introduction to scales by my one and only guitar teacher for 6 months, 1974 at 14 years old, he said you love ABB, learn this, it will take some time while we continue working on rudiments...he hand wrote the entire thing in tablature, what a gift, ...I finally got it after I stopped the lessons because I got in a garage band that turned into a bar band for 15 years, the fingerprints of that somg are all over my playing style 50 years later ... Forrest Richard Betts, Rest in Blue Sky's, thanks for the roadmap and Steve G, thanks for teaching me how.

    9/23/73 I was a freshman at West PHX HS. A good friend whose older brother worked for Graham productions. And acquired back stage passes for us at Sun Devil stadium. After the release of Brothers and Sisters album. Mr. Dickey Betts was my Idol. Because I related to Rambling Man.Being I used to travel back and forth to Cali. by Greyhound several times a year since I was ten yrs old. After my parents divorce. Hope you'll understand that I was born a Rambling Man 🎸

    I saw the Allmans so many times. They were just a great band. This era I liked a lot. Dickie was playing great. May he rest in peace, he was special for sure. Watching this show make me realize how I miss Allen Woody.

      The fusion of rock, blues, jazz, country, soul into their own mix was an impressive accolade. 60 and 70's were the experimental time of rock music and no one did it better. And ALL the members were masters of their craft.

      Gaelic Park The Bronx NYC 1972 w/ Garcia & Weir for encore (Mt Jam!) the 1973 at MSG NYC !! I met Gregg several times , business related at his home in San Raphel. His dog Delta (spaniel) was a bit ornery . I was hand delivering the correspondences between Gregg and Dicky during the nasty disagreement period early 2000's. The Road goes on Forever.

    Ahh such a legend! Dickey's playing was so lyrical and expressive with his beautiful guitar tone. My Favorite Dickey memory is reading in the ABB biography Midnight Riders by Scott Freeman that during the early 80's Reach For The Sky, Brothers Of The Road albums era Arista records executives told Dickey that "Your cowboy wear was embarrassing. You guys should wear matching suits." So as we all know back then he he wore the tallest biggest cowboy hat he possibly could. And not a suit on any one of them. Damn right!

    I am at 57 years old just now embracing electric guitar after decades strumming an acoustic.
    The transition is more difficult than folks had suggested, but, I have a playlist of about 227 TH-cam tutorials, and I’m having a lot of fun, even if pinch-harmonics and sweep-picking confound me.
    Some commenters complained that this performance was too slow. I’m grateful.
    I’m inspired to learn some leads of Mr. Betts. I won’t be recording any tribute videos for y’all to suffer through, but I’m sure Dickey will bless my humble practice and over time I believe I can learn.

    Saw them in '74, outdoors concert north of London, UK. They came on at midnight and made everybody fly. Incredible!!!

    Legendary.
    Many artist I grew up listening to are now gone and have left a mark in history. Still some left but the numbers are fading as is my time left in this world. I feel I grew up in the best of times all around. Music, cars, economy, when the government still knew they worked for the people etc.

    I remember watching this when it originally aired. My roommates and I were stoked they busted out with Jessica. That was back in the day when you heard a favorite band was going to be on TV you would anticipate all day.
