Dickey Betts is what being a musician is all about...a super player, yet he enjoys others playing...he just loves making music and what a joy to listen to him!
My first concert was Allman Brothers on lawn of Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Auditorium August 1970. Allman Brothers opened for a band called Fantasy. Dickey and Duane together were like Zeus and Apollo, guitar gods. Rest in Blue Sky, Dickey.
It's still amazing to me that anything managed to replace this as my favorite song of all time. Thank God a flock of Geese flew in and blew my world apart.
Dickey Betts never gets old he put the Allman Brothers on the map the man literally coined the songs that made them who they are Warren Haynes and Dickie Betts twin guitar solos or legendary love watching those old TH-cam clips
read somewhere that Dickie was such a friend and fan of Jerry's, that he payed tribute to him after he passed with the addition of frankilins tower intro to blue sky
I was born in 1959. My father turned me on to this band as my mom and dance around our playing them, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and so many other greats.
