    Having been Born in 57 have listened to the greatest music on our planet and seeing the Allman Brothers twice in early 70's is something that I'll cherish, the greatest southern rock band of our generation.

      Born in 59 and I totally agree. And Dickey was the absolute heart of it. His songwriting and guitar playing was absolutely sublime. Not to take anything away from his Allman fellows in the band and Lynyrd Skynyrd et al.

    I was born in 1959. My father turned me on to this band as my mom and dance around our playing them, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and so many other greats. I really feel both lucky and privileged to have grown up with these bands. Today's youth is Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Cardi B and its just so sad!

      Chris Verich- I agree 100%. Born in 1958. I listen 98% still to music of 60-70s. Nothing compares to our era PERIOD. So much raw talent. no auto tu n e lip synch . Loop recording. Etc. We were so blessed weren't we ? I wasn't a huge Allman bros fan, but I knew Dickie Betts was sure top of the talent group. I'd put Terry Kath up there with him (rip) Chicago band guitarist

    I saw Dickey Betts and Great Southern in 1977 at Kirkwood Meadows in California along with Charlie Daniels and Commander Cody. I think it was a great concert,I got pretty wasted. After all it was the 70’s

    My first concert was Allman Brothers on lawn of Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Auditorium August 1970. Allman Brothers opened for a band called Fantasy. Dickey and Duane together were like Zeus and Apollo, guitar gods. Rest in Blue Sky, Dickey.

    I had the pleasure to provide sound services for Dickey Betts and Great Southern at the Crossroads venue in Birmingham, AL promoted by Ruffino-Vaughn Promotions of New York and Birmingham. One of the best quotes, ever, was when Dwayne said "Dickey is the good guitarist, I'm the famous one."

      First time I've ever heard Jack play this with Dickey and it won't be the last. Pearson is incredible, he and Betts are really making magic. I love this song so much and they played it beautifully! Damn...

    Beautiful. A little Greatful Dead thrown in for good measure, and look at what he is playing! I don't think I've seen him play a strat before. It sounds just as sweet. He gave us guitar music that will hopefully live on for ever. RIP

    One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES OF ANY BAND. It's that good. Everything about the song os just about perfect. Not only is the music great, but the words/lyrics alone - just perfect. Just read the lyrics by themself without the music. Beautifully written.
