- A quick video on how to reset your Infotainment System on a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. I've had this problem happen twice. The first time I asked a dealer service manager and he said you probably have to do a software update. Well, let's just say I didn't update any software. Both times I had this problem I had just jump-started the car.

I had the same problem yesterday with my screen. I been watching other videos on how to reset the radio didn't work. I click on your video and done what you say do and it works. Thank you for your help.

Thank you!! My 2015 Impala’s infotainment system was fine, but the heat and air conditioning controls were blank. My air bag light also came on. This fixed all of it :)

For me the infotainment worked, but my Driver Information System screen was black. I tried what this guy shows and it worked...yay!!!
Thanks for this video it helped me out. Two days ago I pushed the volume mute button on the steering wheel to place an order in the drive thru and the screen went black and the radio quit working.

Thank you. TH-cam to the rescue once again. No jump starting for me but my screen went blank when parked at a restaurant on the shady side of town last night (she is fancy and thinks she is a Cadillac).
I woke up all exited to try this and found it reset itself overnight. Thanks for the tip! Now I will not panic next time it happens!

Sweet... thanks for the video!! I was gonna do this untill i turned off my impala and pulled the mini usb card out (with mp3s on it) and started the car up and the radio came back on..

I have a 2015 Impala that was doing the same thing. First, the Screen lleft of the Speedometer, did the Key and Door thing and started working as it should. Just days ago, for the first time, the center one went Black and got it working again. I said enough is enough and took it to the Dealer and had the Software Upgraded.

Ok so i cant find anything on my problem.. My DASH lights are completely black with no movement of the speedometer or anything on the dash... so im wondering would this be a costly process or just maybe a blown fuse ?

Thank you. This happened to me after getting a new battery from the repair shop. The tech checked the fuses; all good. They advised to bring it back in the morning because their mechanic left for the day. I thought the mechanic stayed until closing time?

I had the same thing happened to me but it wasn't due to me jumping the vehicle off. I took it to get a hand car wash and they had the driver side door slightly open and not all the way shut. From what the dealership told me the computer has to reset. They told me a little trick that may help. Turn my car off leaving the key out of the ignition open the driver side door and leave it open for 5 minutes then close it and start it back up. My screen came right on.
Just had this happen after shopping at Walmart, and no tools on me to do what video suggested so I did what u said and it worked like a charm. Thanks!!!

@@chasinggreatness42 me too. It happened once b4, and I freaked. I love this car but buying it used I'm familiar with just how much this stuff can cost to fix (had the rear modules go bad b4 GM offered a fix for them). All this fancy stuff.....so much $$. Lol.
@@BKind-ht6zf yeah it can get pretty expensive especially if you go to the dealer. Both of my headlights just went out at the same time yesterday and now I have to go to the dealer to have it checked. Luckily I still have my extended warranty.
@@chasinggreatness42 you are lucky. I had to change the ballast in one of my HID lights a few months ago. Waaay cheaper to do it yourself. To hell with those dealers. Lol.

Question: How often did you have to do that, or did you only have to do it once and the screen worked fine ever since?
My wife has the same exact vehicle. Has your flashers not worked when you pressed the emergency hazard button. If so, do you know how to fix it?
This will correct it self after driving for a while or a couple of restarts
Ted Berg I drove mine for over 2 weeks with the screen blacked out. I drive 1200 miles a week restarting the car numerous times every day.
I attend church with a GM service manager. I asked him about this issue. He told me it sounded like the car needed a software update. I unhooked the battery just to see what would happen. Unhooking the battery fixed the problem immediately.

I have a 2015 impala, I literally just tried this and it didn’t work. Any idea what else I could do? My radio and screen went out at the same time, I changed the fuses, however only the radio started working, but the screen is still out. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

I had a stuck CD in my 2014 Impala. Here's how I fixed it. There are two fuse boxes. One under the hood that we will not access and one in back of the pop-out drawer/compartment on the lower left side of the steering wheel that we will access. Remove the key from the ignition. Remove the pop-out drawer by pushing in on the tabs on both sides of the drawer to see the fuse box. Look at the fuse diagram in the owners manual and on the drawer back. Remove the radio fuse. Mine was #4. Put the key in accessory and notice the radio has no power. Remove the key. Put the fuse back in the fuse box. Put the key in accessory and notice the radio has power. Now try the CD eject button and it should eject the CD if the problem is like what I had.
Did your radio still work as in you could still use a CD or aux cable or even just the normal stations? Cuz i hit a bump in the road and for the second time the screen went out. Its been out for about a yr now. Got it replaced under warranty the first time cuz they claimed it was defective. Now they want $100.

Maybe I didn't understand your question. After I disconnected and reconnected the battery everything would work again. I guess that's just sort of a reset.
@@markpulliam8155 Your answer made sense. I still have control from my steering wheel and the buttons under the screen still work. I just dont have a working screen. Thats why i said hopefully the it'll work. I had read on a forum apparently doing this discharges the capacitors which is believed to be a reason for the black screen
hello i have a 2017 impala and i did everything i can possibly do n still my screen is out it comes on but it dnt work my screen is black and orange it was after i gave someone a jump please help or give me some suggestions anybody

So this worked for me but my screen goes black every time I turn it on. If I disconnect the battery then reconnect it works but if I turn it off after that it goes right back to a black screen. Any suggestions??

@@katherinepowell1005 there was some new connector it needed. I took it to the dealership and I believe they fixed for $150 . So annoying

Has anyone figured out how to do it with a 2020? Screen stays on for about a min and turns off and back on continuously.
I try this and it worked but now my screen goes in and out every 5 seconds. So I can’t play music I already check all the fuses also wires but none of that solve my problem

Did your backup camera still work even tho the screen was black? I'm having same problem but my backup camera works completely fine but that's it no radio at all just black scree.
My Impala didn't have a backup camera.

@@MrRottweiler72 pop got into my CD player because I got into a minor accident few weeks prior to the radio messing up. Once the cd player was replaced by the dealer everything was fine.
Same thing I had to do...
I've tried didn't work for me I've even took out the number 4 & 5 fuse open door for few min so on still no luck.

Mines was a blown radio fuse

It was the #5 fuse inside by the steering wheel
Same thing happened to me, though mine is a 2017... fml
Pull out fuse F39 (7.5A) in the fuse panel under the steering wheel for a minute. Should work after that. Fuse is labeled "display" in the owners manual.
