Agreed. The "Burying the new paper under the old was, as he himself said "the part that really matters"..And didn't show it in process being done--just the result. Too bad.
My 10 year old GAF architectural shingles are really glued together. Just trying to use the flat bar really messed them up. I got a tip to use a thin blade scraper and lightly, carefully drive between the courses. Slow, but it works. Thanks for your video.
Perfecto Garcia. You fixed it beautifully. That tarp might have worked if it had gone all the way down from the ridge covering the whole side, but when something is done wrong there is always trouble
I know how to do this stuff and patch a good handful of roofs every year, but I like to come and watch your videos anyways. Who knows maybe I’ll even learn something
Thank you so very much for your time and video, it has enlightened me to be able to fix my roof the right way. Your instruction was spot on and very thoughtful. Blessings
Great video, looks very simple in the video, but I bet for case to case situation it might get tricky, but installation concept in practical application is well provided. Thanks
The only thing is at 5:55, where you bury the new paper under the old, shouldn't you cut the old a straight line so you know how much is buried the same consistently all the way across?
What do you do if when trying to raise the old shingles to find the whole tab it’s tearing up? Do you just put roof tar when putting the new piece to seal the one that tore?
I see where the new felt is underneath the old felt at the top, but what about on the sides? Did you also put the new felt underneath the old felt and seal it with roofing cement?
Roofing Solutions by Eric Garcia I am trying to learn how to repair my roof unfortunately after you removed the shingles that's pretty much where your video stopped doing any good. I know and understand what the tar paper is but you had a starter shingle. that is one of the things I am trying to learn about. So I am still at a loss. And you go from a picture of the tar paper with a starter shingle to a snap of the fingers and magically it's all done like we are supposed to know. SO ALL YOUR VIDEO WAS ACTUALLY ABOUT WAS REMOVING THE OLD SHINGLES AND PREPPING FOR NEW ONES. SO WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT THAT UNDER YOUR VIDEO SAYING THAT'S WHAT IT WAS ABOUT???? SO in actuality you are trying to make money from a video that isn't what you claim👎
Definitely needs a new roof. Needs to be Re- decked as well with osb decking. The roof isn't up to code with skip decking. That is of course if Nebraska's state building codes requore osb decking on all residential roofs. Skip decking is no good. I live here in Oklahoma, and I'm a roofing contractor. I run into this type of decking frequently when dealing with & replacing older roofs. They take on a lot of leaks. Good repair though
kailey barri if you are a roofer for your occupation you are basically laughing when you get a job like this gravy as fuck repair, if we are talking big I would consider anything over 150 bundles.
Joe Figueroa dude if it's flat you are one the wrong video. which you were even if it wasn't. do yourself a favor and look up and watch the one's about flat roofs
more than likely utube didn't like it, especially with as many views. He did do a good job, just not a detailed and time consuming video. Just glad that the trolls stayed away :)
Terrible video. Showed the eazy stuff, skipped all the stuff I wanted to know. Watched him pull nails for 5 minutes and then, SHAZAM!! the new felt paper magically appeared where it is supposed to be.
Walter Lopez ...se nota que usted no es roofer, use el mismo color y la misma marca, pero como despues de 5 años el sol decolora el material , eso lo hace imposible de igualar, eso es algo que todos los que hacemos esto lo sabemos. saludos
Horrible repair. You always use the same decking as is pre-existing, in this case slat-board. Also, you must apply ice/water shield to the area being repaired prior to installing felt and shingles.😡
Thank you for doing the job with the camera off!!!! I need to watch a real tutorial.
Agreed. The "Burying the new paper under the old was, as he himself said "the part that really matters"..And didn't show it in process being done--just the result. Too bad.
I found this video very informative. It has all the information needed without a lot of detail. Thanks for posting this.

Prairie Viking thank you!!
SEE.....your video isn't very informative.
The sides dont need mastic as much as the top.
I think you should have shown the process of putting the felt down. Not enough details.
Great, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this video. I feel like I might be able to do this now!
M&M Productions it's really a quite manageable job especially if only this size of a repair
hey Eric I seen your video for Clay Roof is peal and stick the same as hot mop thanks for informing
Joe Figueroa ...i would say yes, but hot mop is much more expensive
you need to get someone to film you so we can see what you are doing...its to hard for you to manage the camera and tell us what you are doing...
Come to Nebraska work with us!!!
fleggaroo ...thank you, come down to Cali! Nice weather all year round!!

hablas mucho directo al grano ,talk to much go straight to the point
tiene que echar un rollo grande para verse mas profesional y sorprender a lo que no saben...
Horrible video. The roof repaired itself.
