I would have loved to have seen the reaction to the garden, when the family saw it. I can't believe that, this beautiful garden was hidden under all of that muck. Now they can use their shed, and store their extra outdoor chairs, and garden tools. I wanted to teleport, through the screen, and help you, shovel out the dirt.

@@vanzikky well, clearly they didnt so once they left and this new tenant was set to arrive, the landlord should have made it ready for her. It is the landlord's property afterall
Exactly the owner of the private let is by law responsible for the rubbish etc removal
however, I assume that with the mess in the back yard the rent is cheaper than it Ould have been otherwise .. so in a way it was a blessing in disguise for the tenant. Now she has the cheaper rent AND the nice yard ;-)
There needs to be stronger laws holding scummy landlords accountable.
I’m a landlord there no sodding way I would let anyone rent my property like that what a disgrace, thank you for giving you time to help.

Ben, thank you for clearing the garden for Chantelle and her children, and thanks to whoever nominated her! This brought back too many memories of moving into rented houses and having to find the garden under all the weeds. Hope Chantelle and her children managed to make use of the gazebo and tables and chairs you found! Or to have them gone quickly.
This was an EPIC transformation that had a bit of everything. Line trimming, weed pulling, trash removal, leaf raking, tree pruning and finally a good pressure washing to finish it off!! It was an archaeological dig and you crushed it. You brought that backyard garden, the patio and pathways back to life and made it a safe space for that single mom and her kids! Shame on the landlord for allowing the new tenant to move into a property with a yard like that. You did a fantastic job, and this made for excellent content. You do it all! 😊
Landlord needs a swift kick, it should have been done before renting out. Once you are in a rental it becomes your responsibility to maintain. Thank you for doing this for her, you are very kind, God Bless you and your family.

Wow Ben!!! This is a transformation beyond I have seen in awhile. It is such a shame that the people before let it get to that state it was in. Those tiles are beautiful and now her kids have a safe place to play. Amazing work. 😍😍

The title says for this video, To help a hard working single mum. People get too busy with working a lot, raising a family (especially on their own), or they can’t afford to pay someone to clean it up or someone became ill and disabled and can’t maintain their home and lawn anymore. It happens to a lot of people. It’s great that Ben was able to help this single mom. 😁

Nice job man, those rather fetching coloured slabs were all the rage in the 70's, it probably the 1st time in 40 years that they have been properly cleaned. The family is really lucky that you've come to their rescue.
I live in the States and hadn't seen anything like those tiles. I can absolutely see those as coming from the 70's! Thanks for the info. 😄
@@paulanorwood7079 They are sold at Home Depot in Red, White, and other shades, for $2 each. So still around now, although the checkerboard pattern is not something I've seen much.
My dad laid some checkerboard slabs just like that in the 1970’s. They never did lay flat!

Crazy thing is... I live in a 4 bed terraced house with the same sized garden as the video, but my children have grown up now, the council will not help find me a high rise flat (as id be happy to live in one) and my landlord will happily house a family with young kids! its crazy . My garden is going to waste and its unaffordable for me. I love your video transformations :)

I understand what you're saying but living in a high rise apartment is not suitable. It's like being in prison noises from upstairs and downstairs. Especially those that have no Balconies.
I lived in one for three year's (Widow ) now have a three bedroom house.
With garden herb's fruits and vegetables growing in large containers .
Especially during lockdown (Covid ).
So many people couldn't handle the pressure of being stuck in a building , detrimental to your Mental health.
Maybe swap with young family in a two bedrooms house with garden .

Good idea, I was actually thinking at the end of each year, I revisit each job and do something little, maybe a weed treatment, trim a hedge etc,

But, as always, you just started at the beginning and chipped away at it until it was done. I’m amazed you had the strength to return the following day to finish up!

Didn't know those sheds were back there until you got to that area.

Well done on a fantastic job. I honestly wouldn't have believed that was the same garden. It's really hard moving from a flat to a house (I did it) you want a garden for your children to be able to play outside in a safe space but if it's overgrown and neglected you can't always afford to pay someone to come in and do it for you and don't perhaps have the time, knowledge or ability to do it yourself. You will have made such a difference to the woman and her children's lives. Thank you so much for doing that for her.

Here is the UK the contracts can be so specific, on what you have to do as a tenant, this was shocking

It's absolutely heart warming for you to think of other peoples children when you think of how you are going to handle a cleanup. Being a father yourself, you know that even something small might be a danger and might need addressed.
WOW WOW was that more than you bargained for? I felt bad when all that muck you had to shovel. What backbreaking work. That by far is your most epic transformation. Who would have known the entire garden area had all those pavers? I can't imagine how exhausted you must have been. You have went from walks and driveways to major back yard transformations. A local newspaper or tv station should highlight you for your blessings.

I honestly thought the entire area was going to be paving stones, so am glad for you that there was some actual vegetation areas. :D It's one thing for you to go in and clear out a garden of all sorts of overgrown weeds, I have total respect for all the rubbish you cleaned out as well. It's going to create a feeling of calm. I can't imagine how overwhelmed this family was. Being bothered by this and maybe didn't realize how much. I just hope this can be a new start. And that they can find a better way to deal with this issue.

I have seen archaeological digs where roman mosaics are dug up. Amazing to see how quickly pottery features (like in the video) could have been 'lost' in the first place - this garden had only been 'buried' in weeds and soil for a few years. Until exposed by Ben. Several layers of interesting. Good job fella.
