Depression is a vicious circle. Norman is at the stage where he can't maintain his property. There may be other issues. However, having more sunlight going inside the house will be amazing. He also can step outside without seeing trash and overgrowth. I like Norman. He seems like a gentle soul. Thank you for being kind and just sitting down to eat with him. I love your videos. I hope there are community health services available for Norman including nutrition, therapy for depression, and home upkeep/care. Most likely having a cleaned up yard may seem overwhelming and it all starts over without intervention. Sending blessings to you, Dad, and Norman. Beautiful job. 💚💚💚
The fact that he has been willing to allow this massive clean up to take place is a good sign. I think he needs the help I mentioned to keep going on this journey. It may not be possible without intervention because this is a big house to maintain and he's not in the best physical shape either. We need a lot more people like you, your father, and family. There are older or disabled folks who want to stay in their homes but need a little help. Or a lot of help, if neglected. What you did for both Norman and his home is nothing short of miraculous! I was blessed enough to be able to get the company who keeps my community neat to also maintain my yard for a reasonable rate. Not everyone can get this. I love watching you and your dad bless someone every time you have a new video. 90% of the patio was removing overgrowth and ivy. And despite the overgrowth, some beautiful roses came up and bloomed. Now he needs some carpentry people to replace his window frames and the base wood in his home. Would some kind business person donate the wood to get it started? And a plumber to install an outside tap. "Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty." Great motto Theo!😂😂❤❤❤❤

Watching these last 3 vids of Norman has made me so tearfull and what you said to him at the end about hoarding pushed me over the edge, it takes someone with soooo much understanding to realise that to some people its just hoarding but to the hoarder its their possessions and there is so so many emotions when their items go, its relief, sorrow and when things are finally done its joy, thank you for helping Norman your boys are lucky having a dad and a grandad as kind and caring as you both are 💖

I work with elderly people and it brings me so much joy to see how much care and effort you put in for these people and how you go above and beyond just cleaning but also care for their well being and that is the root of why you help them to begin with and I truly applaud you and your father. It is so nice to meet people like Norman. I miss the UK so much, but I'm watching from Oklahoma. Depression is an ugly beast/monster that you don't know until you have it yourself. You get impatient with yourself, but you are helpless. What a wonderful gift you have given them. Every step outside is a step forward. Not to mention the extra daylight hitting the house and it was brilliant to fill those gaps with spray foam. You and your dad, as well as the people you help, bring joy clear across the pond. Your organization when tackling tasks gives me ideas for some of my outside projects. May God continue blessing you all.
I love how you're doing this for him. The only issue I have is that we have seen helping others, but when you said on the first day that you needed help, where are they. Your dad is a great man. My Scottish hubby watched ,I think day one and you handed Norman the sausage roll with the bread. I may of saw his tears welling up .and said Where is mine ? We do not have that in Oregon . Every morning in his way to work . Or come home from the butcher's and the bakery when we lived in Scotland. Its ok He has found Marmite and digestives...he has survived for 14 yrs.
What a transformation with Norman's patio! You can see how much he appreciated you and your dad just taking the time to spend time with him and not just how you've both worked so hard to get all that outdoor space for him to enjoy it. There is a company I follow on TH-cam called Mountain Rug Cleaners (Cleaning?). He takes rugs that people have thrown out, cleans and sanitizes them (beautifully, I might add), then donates them to children’s charities, animal rescues, etc. I wonder if he might help as well.

I did the same thing for people manny years ago while doing my teaching diploma and now as an older member of ‘life’ and disabled, I understand how much these clean-ups can help boost one’s morale and sense of well-being. We are in our 70s. Fortunately we have two adult sons who help with basic landscaping chores. Nonetheless, it's amazing how quickly nature reclaims our gardens and patios!

Ben, you and your dad are such handsome, hardworking, kind, professional men. You are both wonderful examples of compassion and charity. Your two little boys have excellent role models. Watching these last 3 vids of Norman has made me so tearfull and what you said to him at the end about hoarding pushed me over the edge, it takes someone with soooo much understanding to realise that to some people its just hoarding but to the hoarder its their possessions and there is so so many emotions when their items go, its relief, sorrow and when things are finally done its joy, thank you for helping Norman your boys are lucky having a dad and a grandad as kind and caring as you both are 💖

It is so nice to meet people like Norman. I miss the UK so much, but I'm watching from Oklahoma. Depression is an ugly beast/monster that you don't know until you have it yourself. You get impatient with yourself, but you are helpless. What a wonderful gift you have given them. Every step outside is a step forward. Not to mention the extra daylight hitting the house and it was brilliant to fill those gaps with spray foam. You and your dad, as well as the people you help, bring joy clear across the pond. Your organization when tackling tasks gives me ideas for some of my outside projects. May God continue blessing you all.
I love how you're doing this for him. The only issue I have is that we have seen helping others, but when you said on the first day that you needed help, where are they. Your dad is a great man. Now I understand where you learned how to be such a hard-working man with a great heart and a wonderful loving family, man.

My Scottish hubby watched ,I think day one and you handed Norman the sausage roll with the bread. I may of saw his tears welling up .and said Where is mine ? We do not have that in Oregon . Every morning in his way to work . Or come home from the butcher's and the bakery when we lived in Scotland.
Its ok He has found Marmite and digestives...he has survived for 14 yrs.
What a transformation with Norman's patio! You can see how much he appreciated you and your dad just taking the time to spend time with him and not just how you've both worked so hard to get all that outdoor space for him to enjoy it. There is a company I follow on TH-cam called Mountain Rug Cleaners (Cleaning?). He takes rugs that people have thrown out, cleans and sanitizes them (beautifully, I might add), then donates them to children’s charities, animal rescues, etc. I wonder if he might help as well.

The tidy up here for Norman and Betty is phenomenal and will mean SO much more than you could ever imagine. I did the same thing for people manny years ago while doing my teaching diploma and now as an older member of ‘life’ and disabled, I understand how much these clean-ups can help boost one’s morale and sense of well-being.

We are in our 70s. Fortunately we have two adult sons who help with basic landscaping chores. Nonetheless, it's amazing how quickly nature reclaims our gardens and patios!

I really love how you are so positive and have a smile. I love how your dad and you work and joke around together on flawless blessings. I love how you have tools for each type of issue you could find and when you do repetitive tasks that you are careful to bend your knees, avoid twisting and put the bins nearby for organizing. I especially enjoy your family outro's. Those little videos are a wonderful way to record and watch your precious ones grow up.

OMG!! I never would have guessed he had a lower garden!! That was such a beautiful surprise! You and your dad are just awesome guys! Norman is looking better every time you visit. I just love it! And the back garden is so much brighter!! He can sit out there and get some sunshine and vitamin D which should help his spirit as well. I love your antics! Work in progress so, may the Force continue being with Ben and dad, for their hearts knows no bounds. I have no words to describe what my eyes are seeing, week after week, and the best is that it's not over yet! I'll be eagerly awaiting for the big reveal. Perhaps next week? Priceless to see how Norman's demeanor has lightened up considerably; this whole process will have far reaching benefits to his overall health and quality of life.
