I love you Chris, been watching you for the last 4 or 5 years, or more. Best movie critic in my mind. But this movie is straight trash.
The action is great and the gore is excellent but the script and the plot is so dumb.
This movie is so bad it almost doesn't even deserve a SPOILER WARNING.
-Like what's up with the robots?
-What was the point of the buzzsaw?
-Why the need to crack the safe if it's Tanaka's safe in the first place, won't he have the code?
-I can't believe that the chick Chambers fought zombies in a hallway for like two entire minutes in front of her entire team and no one tried to help her. Her friend kills multiple zombies with one bullet and he watched her die.
-There has to be an easier way to get a zombie head out of Las Vegas.
-Geeta is the reason Kate went with the team into Las Vegas and then risks her life to rescue her, and then she dies off-screen and Kate doesn't even care. She doesn't even try to find her, doesn't even call her name after the chopper.
This movie is barely a D.

Its a style that puts the audience into the storyline, trying to solve the mystery of tje plot with the characters. Instead of knowing the out come and watching it unfold. Is it time travel, multiverse infinite loop, why are their robot zombies infiltrated into zombie society, when did Vanderohe get bit, why didn't he change and how did he walk through radioactive loss Vegas without dieing. Almost all of Zack Syders movies are adaptation of other media. Comic books and classic movies for the most part. It was refreshing to see an original take on a played out genre.

Spot on with Bautista, I thought he gave a really riveting and emotional performance. There's a scene in the 3rd act, where a character is unexpectedly killed right in front of him and you get this expression of absolute shock, confusion and hurt that made you really feel for his character.
Also, holy crap, I never have been so happy to see a zombified tiger maul and much on a human antagonist character in a movie. It's one of those scenes you just wanna cheer.

Also, if you really want a daughter there, at least cast someone who resembles the character she's related to she had distractingly massive eyes, i dont think i ever saw Bautistas eyes 😂 although he might been her stepdad i don't know, my brain was hurting watching this film

    • @brajeshsingh2391
      @brajeshsingh2391 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@michaeldesignbig2538 the characters were not forced but there is lack of seriousness and intelligence. I think the reason is primarily that makers did not want this movie to be a copy of train to Busan. And the sub plots are many. What I would have done is probably done some narrative like a TV anchor telling the back story of Zombie invasion in Vegas as the opening scene is played. and then a discussion on the governments plan to nuke them. I would take that whole intro scene of Zombie getting away. Then I would go to Tanaka who is watching the program and has zeroed on Batistuta. Then I would go to Batistuta who is quarrelling with his daughter who then just walks away. Enter Tanaka who tells him he can make 200 million. Then Batistuta goes and discuss the plan with his girlfriend and then they recruit the team. I would make discussions and recruitment more serious and more dense. Like they discuss the helicopter guy, the Mexican Street gang, and the safe cracker. I would make the recruitment process a little more complicated with some guys not agreeing and Batistuta convincing them. Simultaneously the sub plot of Kate and Geeta and the blonde lady goes on.
Then as Batistuta and his girlfriend are discussing how they enter Kate walks in. Realizing that they are going in she manages to convince them to take her by telling them she knows somebody that can get them in. Enter the blonde lady in the team.
Finally all set they meet at Tanaka's where the final plan is set. The plan there reveals about the conditions, and the alpha zombies. There Tanaka introduces his henchman. Tanaka jokingly tells them if they can catch a alphas zombie and bring him alive. As they are about to leave they are caught by the pervert guard. They lure him in by talking about the money.
Finally they get in and begin the path. They some how make a mistake or something goes wrong and attract a horde of Zombies. That's where the blonde lady suddenly throws the guard as bait as he had misbehaved with her by touching her inappropriately during the entry.
As the horde enters we have the firs casualty as the Mexican lady who is tricked by Tanaka's henchman.
Then fighting through they enter the casino. There the team breaks up. The Black Guy and safecracker and Tanaka's henchman stay to break the safe. The other half go to find the Indian lady. Then the safe cracking procedure is shown. Make it complicated. Show the guy entering the numbers and vault lock opening. Make the scene tense and dramatic. The 2 teams are discussing their movements on walkie talkie. As he opens the safe the black guy and safecracker are double crossed. A fight ensures which attracts the Zombies. Tanaka's henchman there manages to get head of the queen. But Zombies kills the safecracker and he locks the black guy in the vault.
On the other hand the second team has its adventures and save the Indian lady. The Mexican guy dies a selfless death protecting the ladies. Then Batistuta tells the helicopter pilot to go find the helicopter as he cannot contact the other team. And meet him at the vaults location. There they run into Tanaka's henchman who tells them cooked up story. Somehow they get to know he is lying. A confrontation follows involving the zombies , Tanaka's henchman has head eaten up by the tiger and Batistuta loses his girlfriend. You can also give Kate some action. There finally the team somehow comes to know that the nuke will be in less than an hour. Unable to contact the pilot as she has no walkie talkie or radio as the Americans call they rush to go the helicopter pad. Picking up hench man's bag and the money that he had taken. Meanwhile the blonde lady and helicopter lady are fighting their way through and reach the helicopter. As she is able to get the helicopter the king attacks them. Then Batistuta reaches in nick of time and final fight occurs where the blonde lady is killed and the king jumps into the helicopter. Thereafter its pretty much what's in the movie. Also the acting had to better and more emotional. The interactions could use much tighter dialogues.
How's this for a story. It has everybody. you get the kills. Everybody dies a hero. And the sub plots are also played. I now demand Netflix pays me 5 million for rewriting the screenplay of Army of Dead. Ok not 5 millions as it is copied but I get 250000 what the safecracker was promised.

Zack Snyder isn't at all that kind of "misunderstood director" as some use to say, or like u said when reviewing his director's cut of Justice League. I know that industry most of the times doesn't give freedom to their directors, but directors can't rely on that excuse everytime the result is bad. He is a director that fortunately happened to have made a couple of remarkable movies responsible for his breakthrough (like Dawn Of The Dead and 300) so his career isn't entirely a waste until now. I do understand why people like bad movies, the same way I do understand why people like Snyder's, or Bay's or W.S. Anderson's movies. But when you say you had a "blast" watching something like Army Of Dead, sorry... but I can't think about anything else than that you must have been watching a lot of crap lately. If someone else says that... someone that does not watch movies as much as you or me, yeah, it's okay saying that. But that's not the case. Doesn't matter how much I tried to ignore the problems, but this movie is the worst ever of its genre. The curious thing about it is that Snyder had entire control this time, and the result is as terrible as those ones he blamed studios for the bad ratings. So in his case, the problem isn't studios after all.

The one he ripped off from the comic shot for shot? Maybe give that credit to Dave Gibbons, the original artist. That movie should have never been made. It misses the whole point of what the story is about and what made it great. He took an epic revered comic, ripped the actual story out, and turned it into a shallow super hero movie that relies purely on it's visuals.
