Beno Lifts so,I was in Rome this summer,2017. I was in the same metro and there wasnt such a creepy train driving around, and the stations were TOTALY FULL!

I've been to Italy twice and the amount of meaningless graffiti on every piece of architecture, moving and stationary object - is absolutely astonishing. The entire country is comprised of crazy "artists" that have nothing better to do. This video reminded me of that impression once again.
Graffiti when are made on bus, walls, metros ex. are art. mind it. when are made on other cultural things like statue or relevant buildings is another meaning
This actually isn't an urban metro, but a public railway from the commune/city of Rome to the commune/city of Viterbo (in northern Lazio). Rome have three urban metroes: A (Anagnina - Battistini), B (Laurentina - Jonio/Rebibbia), C (San Giovanni - Monte Campatri-Pantano). These metroes are all better and "less spectral" than that railway. Actually before this video I had no idea of the existence of this underground railway line. I'm not surprised it's so spooky - it's hardly practiced, I guess. To get to Viterbo it is more practical to take a car, a taxi or a suburban bus.
I notice that the interiors are kept very clean. And I wonder if the train stairs operate automatically based on station, or if the driver has to remember when and where to deploy them.
The stairs come down at every station. The drivers pre-door, but the doors don't open until the stairs are down and by then the train has stopped, so I should call it pre-stair rather than pre-door.
? The stairs come down anyway. In the Plantforms made to jump in from the same lavel of the doors there's some space above it to let the stairs come down.
That's Rome-Vitarbo suburban line. I got two or three rides to visit parents and train are creepy cuz in acceleration are making strange noises and cuz doors are really really angry during closing. Trains are sturdy, but sometimes pee smell comes from inside.
That's because of the homeless and drug addicts that use these sort of subway trains. If they're not using it as their personal toilet they lose control of their functions after they overdose. The same problem happens in Los Angels, New York, and Philadelphia.
What a magnificent railway system, definitely on the list of things I need to explore - such a great find, creepy as hell and all the more fascinating as a result - excellent video thanks for sharing this :D
Went to Rome when I was very young, wondered why I kept having nightmares the time I was there and a week after. Turns out I rode these damn things. I remember them being very smelly and very noisy. Indeed except in this cases the train is at a dead end which means the train departing on the left will take the position of the train standing on the right. Thus the train on the left is reversing into the tunnel
Reminds me of travelling to school in the 1960's, on the Northern City line to Moorgate. The tunnels were much larger than the LER 1927 trains that ran in it. They made a roaring noise when they entered the tunnel.
Yeah, fuck graffiti!!!!!! Nevermind the horribly loud noises, aggressive door system, rust and general grime and uncleanliness of the trains and stations. That’s fine. Graffiti is the issue.
I really love the urban railway and subway sistem of Rome! Amazing video! I’m going to Rome every year and this is so amazing! Make a video of Montebello-Rome line!
Not THAT bad, still no litter, which is always the most important issue from the passanger's viewpoint. Interior is clean, no graffitis, no litter. Just do a repair and paint job for the trains, with anti-adhesive resistant coating against graffitis and build proper platforms. There are metros/trams way worse than this everywhere around the world.
@@stefanorunnertube this is an old, and abandoned line, check out new projects or actual metro lines like metro C line or A, B lines and the beautiful train system and you'll find out it's not always the case
I rode the metro/subway in Rome a few years back. I don't remember them being so decrepit as this. Though I only traveled around the central part of Rome near the Colosseum. And with the doorways being so deep, I'm surprised you didn't surf one, Beno...
Some of the Paris RER out towards CDG feels a bit like this too! Some really good footage here. The only place on the tube that feels this way is the abandoned Aldwych section on the Pic line.
In Kiev we have same suburban trains - rusty, dirty and oldy. But underground/U-bahn/Tube/Metropolitain/Subway - is very clean, every station - like monument, tunnels are wider, and many more passangers
Yep, I have videos of this line too. It's pretty dire and the trains are really quite scary to ride. Rome in general is such a beautiful city, but the public transport is generally quite poor in terms of upkeep.
It depends, this specific line is messed up but the rest is mostly fine, examples are the A, B and C metro lines or the buses that operate in the central area
TheGamingBloke Had to do some digging, but it’s clearly the Roma-Viterbo line (or Roma Nord line). Pausing at the first few seconds clearly shows the line’s name for a moment, and I also confirmed that the line is colored green and that ‘Euclide’ station is part of the line. Apparently it’s not part of Rome Metro but an urban and suburban railway network operated by the same folks that operate the city’s metro ;)
Interesting. So it's more like a dingy, in need of repair version of the London Overground (which is very clean and modern) or the outer bits of the Central or Metropolitan lines? Those trains look so dirty they make the 1972TS look modern and as for the stations... they remind me of photos I've seen of what LU was like in the 70s/80s before they modernised many of the stations. Even a disused station like Aldwych or some of the old Bakerloo/Piccadilly/Northern Line stations are in better condition than that.
Pretty much. It's not quite the Overground (there is an Overground like network, the FL lines, with FL1/FL2/FL3 being considerably more urban), and more so a bunch of Northern City lines that are neither FL nor Metro, and considerably more run down, but that for all intents and purposes should really be properly branded as Metro lines. This is the RM-North line which connects to the A Line (and by far the most run down), there's also the RM-Lido line to the south, connected to the B Line, which is a proper metro service in all but name, and the RM-Giardinetti (not to be mistaken with the tram network) which was partly built over by the C Line, but still keeps running outwards as a narrow gauge tram. Interesting that they're in financial limbo as much as they exist as "limbo" lines between the Metro and the FL networks, not even that advertised on maps or anything.
I went to Rome and I can confirm that the metro is creepy as hell........ On one of the stations that I always left the metro they had one of the original metro cars that gave a creepy vibe.

As one of the most famous and fascinating tourist cites in the world, Rome really sucks for its underground railway. I've been to Italy for three times, and it had been very difficult for me to link Italy with the concept of a 'developed country'. But luckily I found the high-speed railway being pretty good; sadly it was too expensive compared with Japanese or Chinese high-speed railway service.
I disagree. I found Rome to be a not particularly interesting city. It is full of typical stuff for tourists which cringy and annoying. There were some good parts to the city such as the many old lifts in the buildings. The tourist attractions in Rome are the part of the city because they are aimed at ordinary tourists who have just come to see the attractions. It's actually one of the "Urban lines", the one that terminates at Flaminio. The big give away is "Euclide" station. But yes, in effect, it's a "subway" in the sense that it's an underground line at this part, it's just not one of the 3 "Metro" lines of Rome. Other cities also have similar anomolies, such as the Moorgate to Drayton Park line in London (which is NOT part of the Underground, even though it is....underground), and certain "private" lines in and around Tokyo behave like Metro lines but officially aren't.
Yeppp, in Belgrade, Serbia we don't even have metro, but there is just one line that is 10 times worse than the one in video xd. Some people find it aesthetic tho.
Hahaha this is the Roma-Civitacastellana-Viterbo railway line, not a Subway...and it has been constantly ranked as the worst railway line in Italy. Here in Rome we call it "treno indianino" (the indian train) and very few people take it ir even know it exists. They are currently modernizing it in order to transform it into a proper subway line.
you could get killed in that thing and no one would ever find you, lol. but honestly, i feel like being underground and empty takes the creepiness level to a whole new level

Why does the door closing chime sound so much like the 1992 stock... especially at 2:30... even the sound of the air.
Beno I like your Channel very much
Love this creepy video!
Does anyone recommend any other trains that are just like this that I can go and see. It must be on a ryanair destination.
In post-soviet Eastern European countries are all trains shitty like this.
line M4 in Bucharest,Romania
The Glasgow Underground because it’s so small I can’t even stand up in it I have to slouch a bit 😂
Beno circumvesuviana from Naples
Yeppp, in Belgrade, Serbia we don't even have metro, but there is just one line that is 10 times worse than the one in video xd. Some people find it aesthetic tho.
Damn this looks like a good place to get up. do they even buff the cars?
1:38 EEEEH!
Perfect for movies. Probably would be less creepy in rush hour assuming this train line actually gets some use
The city of Rome is so beautiful but the metro trains are so... Blergh.
Italy is just.. something else
The Inside Gives Me A Similar Feel To The Old Great Northern 313's
New Msio World 505 What??
The graffiti on the trains is one thing I'll never forget about Italy. It's like New York in the '70s and '80s.
these underground resemble overground trains they look so dirty they look like old tin boxes
This is truly eerie! When the doors open and you get in looks like if a horde of zombies will attack you! What time was that? It is really empty.
Where is that. The only station
I Know is for the METRO A.
( Can sombody tell me where is it )
the connection would be at Flaminio station.
1:38 lol what was the grunt from? Sounds like the train was struggling to start
The train
Where WAS everybody????
On a better metro like "linea B" or "linea C" i live in Rome and i never see this line
They all went missing
you could get killed in that thing and no one would ever find you, lol. but honestly, i feel like being underground and empty takes the creepiness level to a whole new level
Ooh how I remember having my phone hit out of my hand from this train while on a school trip. 👌 the pain
Needs a total upgrade
LOOKS LIKE NYC TRAINS IN THE 70s
It actually looks cool :O especially the folding staircase thing :P
