    London: Nothing can be smaller than our central line trains.
    Glasgow: Hold my beer.

    • @demise3601

      RMC Matrix it is. Compare the central line to the s stock. Deep line tunnels were made small and the trains are small too. I guess you must have a small stature as well.

      It funny to think until the late 1970's that exact same subway looked like a large city sewer and ran on electrified 1890's carriages. As nice as they say the atmosphere was I think it's a good thing it's in tip top shape now!

    A System that has worked so well for over 100 years my friend was telling me back in the 1900 half a million people lived within a two mile radius of George square and all needed to be transported Glasgow city council started to move people out of the city centre to places like Drumchapel Easterhouse and East Kilbride which dispersed the population away from the Subway but it still does an excellent job and is to be congratulated well done Glasgow

    Pity most of the stations have been refurbished (for the 2nd time since 1896).
    The late 1970s modernisation with its orange and brown colour scheme was becoming nicely retro looking (having moved passed the point of being retro).
    The old station colour scheme hid the dust and ming a lot better than the new, mostly white, decor will.

    • @paullangford8179
      @paullangford8179 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      None taken. I am sometimes exasperated by the apparent disregard for safety in a lot of British public places. For example, no traffic barriers to separate vehicles on roads from large, crowded areas such as footways and plazas, and only recently are there safety fences on some crowded platforms in the Underground.

      All of them were like that when the system was built. When they closed the system back in 77 they obviously changed a few of them. Partick was actually a brand new station replacing Merkland Street. Govan and St Enoch are the only ones that actually had the island platforms taken completely out. Hillhead, Buchanan Street and Ibrox (or Copland Road as it was called) kept their island platforms for one side but had a side platform built for the other

      Our subway should be built by 2050 and will have two stops, the center of Dundee and not the center of Dundee.

    Glasgow underground is one of the oldest in the world. from 1893. and the trains are always on time. never any problems. that's why it got the name the clockwork orange. because they are always on time and the trains were painted orange. I just wish they would extend the network. to the east and north of the city. so it would benefit the whole city. and it would be a great success if they would do it.

      Thats stupid. That is nowhere near the world record of the previous trains. Why can't they last as long.
      Does anyone know if the previous trains still have the record for oldest train in regular passenger service, or has the Isle of wight 1938 beaten it yet.

      Probably a few more years, but the new trains that will be entering service in 2020 will eventually phase out the old ones.

    Ps partick in Glasgow where I am from does have a twin platform station as does hill head and St Enoch.. Which has been extensively modernised over the years.

    This is a publicly owned very clean and efficient, the public sector can run it well, just wish more bus services which most seem to be privately owned are letting down the public because of chase for profit
