Actually, just the other night I got to that "shit hits the fan" moment in late in Persona 5 and then went to bed really curious about what would happen next. I then proceeded to see the story progress via my dreams (but since I didn't know what was going to happen next, my dreams ended up lying to me anyway)

Go back, beat the new boss, and by the exit you can pick up an item. *PLEASE* GET THIS ITEM. It's an accessory you can put on anyone and it takes all move they can do and halfs the sp needed; makes anyone you put it on really op, ecsepcially Naoto. Good luck yalls

I literally just started playing golden just a couple of weeks ago, and can already say that eating glass is a good way to describe Marie's social link.
I would recommend grinding for a 100% complete playthrough though. With more money you can use the compendium at will to match your personas to the S links you develop, pay the fox to recover and be able to beat a dungeon in a single day, buy books to increase more than one stat at once, etc.
Well I really want one, but not for Danganronpa and I didn't know about persona 4G before I wanted one. What I really want it for though is Tales of Hearts R because I've played mostly every other tales game other than Berseria, Legendia, and anything before Symphonia.

At least KH2's prolonged prologue had *actual fucking gameplay* in it. Persona 4's is largely just text that you're going to burn a hole into your "move through dialogue faster" button/key for.

My party was just all the dudes and it worked out great. Teddie = Bufu + Healing Kanji = Zio + Physical Yousuke = Garu + ALWAYS MISSING WHEN IT COUNTS -uh, I mean - debuffs (or buffs I don't remember lol) Also, Rise IS best waifu.

+nick network gaming I actually love the dancing game because of the soundtrack, however when I first bought it (I did it just because I was curious) I was like "Goddammit those japanese try to exploit all the popular franchises in weird dancing games!" *proceeded to buy it anyway*
The soundtrack is the only thing that the game has going for it since it's not very well made... I'm not a fan of the soundtrack (I only enjoy playing 5 songs out of the entire soundtrack), but with the few that I did like I have a lot of fun with them. If you like the soundtrack, you'll really enjoy the game, if you don't you're going to have a horrible time.
I can't tell you how many times I've noticed that the notes were off or got notes going off of things I can barley even hear. Guitar Hero goes off of one instrument that I can clearly hear, plus it's a lot easier to read the notes especially when when a lot of note come up. Hitting scratch notes are so awkward to hit (I know that you can use L or R now, but I got so used to using the sticks that it felt even more awkward to use). And let's not forget about the meter... the meter had 5 stages, and on All-Night mode if you miss like 1 or 2 notes it drops a stage, and to make it go back up by a stage I need to play about 1/4 of the song (and I'm really good at timing my notes, so I get almost all perfects) if I didn't get a fever, making it really unbalanced... you can have an unforgiving meter and still be fair about it... Ouendan/EBA did this right by having 50s and 100s giving you almost no help with the meter, while 300s and make it go up by a little bit and if a group of notes are all 300s it'll shoot up even more, and the meter is constantly going down. It doesn't have to be just like that, but if it wants to be that unforgiving with the meter then there needs to be a way build up meter faster with out a Fever (since you can only get 2 of them in set parts of the song). There's also an exploit that you can use to beat every song on any difficult.
Since I'm assuming there will be an influx of people to this video after it was re-released on Steam, here's some tips I'd give to people surfing the comments. 1. Gold Hands are amazing. They give PLENTY of money and experience, often leveling up party members more than 1 level on defeat. The thing is... they resist everything. Your only real option is Almighty attacks. This doesn't necessarily mean you need Megido spells, though. All-Out Attacks also do the job, but make sure you have a plan for them, meaning either crits or Megido spells. 2. If you really want to break the game in half, fuse Kaiwan during a day with "skill change". You are hoping that Tetrakarn gets changed into something else, because Tetrakarn can change into absolutely amazing skills like Spell Master or Victory Cry. 3. The damage on skills is kind of wonky, but just know that the game takes the square root of the power listed for a skill (if you go by the wiki). That means that multihits get a substantial advantage over single-hit skills. There are definitely exceptions (the big 3 physical skills, being Brave Blade, God's Hand, and Primal Force, are stronger than the multihits), but generally more hits>higher power. 4. Follow up to 3: Blade of Fury is absolutely ridiculous. From the time you an get it (low 40's, from Okuninushi or Hanuman), it is the strongest physical attack you get, against a single or multiple targets, until you get Brave Blade/God's Hand/Primal Force for single target or until you get Hassou Tobi or Pralaya for multi target. That's insane. It's only slightly weaker than Agneyastra in exchange for higher accuracy and less HP cost. Use it. It's minimum damage is literally the same as Vorpal Blade's damage 5. To illuminate why Black Frost is considered so good: it has no weaknesses and it gets Agidyne, Fire Amp, and Mind Charge. Wile you likely have had Mind Charge for quite a while now (Jack Frost learns it), Black Frost learns Agidyne rather early and Fire Amp EXTREMELY early. Unless you get lucky with Magician cards in shuffle time, Fire Amp will be your only Amp for quite a while. 6. I recommend, if possible, doing each dungeon in a single day. You shouldn't waste time that can be spent towards confidants, social stats, or bike skills. 7. Speaking of bike skills, only a few are really worth the effort. Imo, the good ones are Chie rank 5 (Bufudyne), Yukiko rank 5 (Mind Charge), Teddie rank 5 (Evade Phys), Naoto ranks 1, 2, 4, and 5 (Bufudyne, Ziodyne, Myriad Arrows, and Angelic Grace, in that order), and all the Rise ones. Of those, I'd recommend only really going for Yukiko (all 5), Naoto ranks 1 and 2, and Rise. Rise's are just always good, Naoto's first 2 give her access to all the elements (she learns Mahamaon, Mamudoon, Agidyne, Garudyne, and Megidolaon naturally), and Yukiko's increases her damage substantially. Teddie has too many skill slots to really worry about Evade Physical in my opinion, and, while I'd probably use Bufudyne in the "ideal" Chie build, I'm not sure it's important enough for 5 bike rides. She'll suck at magic regardless. 8. Hang out with your Social Links, but not all of them are super important. The good ones are any party members, Adachi, Marie, and the Fox at the shrine. You might as well do Margaret's also, because it doesn't take time (it destroys your money, though), but the others are less important. 9. For early game bosses, I highly recommend using Yosuke's Sukukaja on party members whose weaknesses will be targeted. That means Yosuke himself on Shadow Chie (though this fight is easy anyway), Chie against Shadow Yukiko, and Yosuke again against Shadoe Kanji. The others are avoidable (just have Yukiko guard when Shadoe Teddie mind charges and you'll be fine), but for those, Sukukaja is nice. Alternatively, you can get a Wall spell and use it on them, but I prefer using MC for Rakunda and damage.

It's not that hard, I just have 1 AOE physical attack and agi, bufu, garu, and zio skills. I'm currently near the end of the game since shuffle time also gives two of the best cards ever on rare chances, Persona level up and Skill level up.
Years later, and I still watch this every 10 hours on every playthrough of Persona 4 Golden. Currently playing on Steam Deck! Feels like I'm back on my old PS Vita. Such nostalgia. Anyway, thank you for making such a beautiful, entertaining guide chock full of useful advice. Although, once you’ve reached Shido’s Palace, it’s pretty easy to tell that the game is gonna end in the next month or so (until Royal came along, but even the new content doesn’t extend to March). I’m guessing you thought that the game would be a whole year long (beginning in early April and ending late March) but your Confidants couldn’t be Maxed by the time you realized how little time was left.
+shadowraith10 It's even worse in Persona Q. Because you can get trapped so easily trying to complete a dungeon. And when the reaper frequently appears, on almost every floor of the labyrinth because, Y'know "Why the fck not?!" It's annoying as hell. Where you have to hear. "ROARRRR *gun shooting*"

When this game first came out on PC I never played a persona game but I was drawn in by the art style and I was immediately hooked on everything. When the game was over I felt a little empty inside. Would love to wipe my memory and replay this again.
I just started playing the steam version for the first time. I have never been much of a console gamer so this is my introduction the series. Its fun so far. The time management idea and knowing I can miss things is kind of stressful though. It would be nice if I had an unlimited amount of time to grind levels and do my own thing but I guess you don't.
i'm assuming you've finished it now lol but tbh once you get in the loop of finishing the dungeon fast then you can just spend ur time however you want and it gets so satisfying

@@ultimateknight4667 hate: no. As a character, I enjoy her well enough, and she irks me less then chie most of the time. However, her social link is not that interesting to me,(it's not bad, just bland) and outside of that what does irk me in the story is how often they try to force the rise/yu angle with how blatantly thirsty she is for you. As a cast member otherwise, she is great, with mostly great banter with the rest of the party. Yukiko is also bland, which I admit. But she at least feels more natural for how she likes the MC. As well, her story was interesting to me, because I had been in a similer place before. I think I could tolerate rise more if the poor flirting and seemingly jelous attitude to other characters was cut down. I know she's an idol, but it very much comes off bratty
I love Naoto as a character, but I hate her romance. It kind of goes against the whole point of her character. Whenever I romance someone in P4, it's Rise and that comes completely down to personal preference. I'm just a sucker for the sweet little minx. Though honestly, I'd prefer the two of them together. They have nicely different yet complimentary personalities and criminally sparse glimpses we do get of their one on one interactions are really cute.

I honestly found myself using Naoto a lot in the original game. Once you get an accessory that cuts SP costs, her insta-death spells become amazing random-battle sweeper moves and she becomes enough of a spellcasting powerhouse with Almighty skills to be useful against bosses. Wound up using her almost non-stop for the latter portions of the game.
Make sure to level up by fighting Shadows. I made the mistake of trying to spread my time out evenly and that was a huge mistake. If you fail to rescue a person, the game will send you back to the previous week and you will lose any progress you made during the week you're supposed to save someone. Trust me, it's awful and much easier to do than most people think. Just become OP by fighting Shadows and do the rest when you can. It will make the game a lot more enjoyable.

I’m a Nintendo purist who got a PS4 when Joker was added in smash. I watched the “Persona 5 for Beginners” video which eventually led me into a rabbit hole of the channel and saw the other Persona videos for Beginners. I told myself I wouldn’t watch them until I had someway to access the other games. I’ve literally waited since I passed Persona 5 sometime in 2018 to watch this damn video. I did start playing Persona 4 Golden earlier today (2023) but this has been in my “watch later” playlist for literal years. I love this series so much and it’s actually super helpful and super fun to watch I can’t wait to see you make more and (hopefully) I won’t have to wait years to see old videos.
Actually do not do all out unless sure to kill the enemy, just use the weakening spell on them again. That is much better. PS: Naoto is best girl and the kings word is absolute.

The soundtrack is the only thing that the game has going for it since it's not very well made... I'm not a fan of the soundtrack (I only enjoy playing 5 songs out of the entire soundtrack), but with the few that I did like I have a lot of fun with them. If you like the soundtrack, you'll really enjoy the game, if you don't you're going to have a horrible time.
I disagree, its well made. better then some dance games. it goes back to the old Guitar hero formula and i dig that.
I can't tell you how many times I've noticed that the notes were off or got notes going off of things I can barley even hear. Guitar Hero goes off of one instrument that I can clearly hear, plus it's a lot easier to read the notes especially when when a lot of note come up. Hitting scratch notes are so awkward to hit (I know that you can use L or R now, but I got so used to using the sticks that it felt even more awkward to use). And let's not forget about the meter... the meter had 5 stages, and on All-Night mode if you miss like 1 or 2 notes it drops a stage, and to make it go back up by a stage I need to play about 1/4 of the song (and I'm really good at timing my notes, so I get almost all perfects) if I didn't get a fever, making it really unbalanced... you can have an unforgiving meter and still be fair about it... Ouendan/EBA did this right by having 50s and 100s giving you almost no help with the meter, while 300s and make it go up by a little bit and if a group of notes are all 300s it'll shoot up even more, and the meter is constantly going down. It doesn't have to be just like that, but if it wants to be that unforgiving with the meter then there needs to be a way build up meter faster with out a Fever (since you can only get 2 of them in set parts of the song). There's also an exploit that you can use to beat every song on any difficult.
Well the game has a setting for audio being off. It says (speakers might be delayed and you can edit your beat timing here:) in the settings.
Since I'm assuming there will be an influx of people to this video after it was re-released on Steam, here's some tips I'd give to people surfing the comments.
1. Gold Hands are amazing. They give PLENTY of money and experience, often leveling up party members more than 1 level on defeat. The thing is... they resist everything. Your only real option is Almighty attacks. This doesn't necessarily mean you need Megido spells, though. All-Out Attacks also do the job, but make sure you have a plan for them, meaning either crits or Megido spells.
2. If you really want to break the game in half, fuse Kaiwan during a day with "skill change". You are hoping that Tetrakarn gets changed into something else, because Tetrakarn can change into absolutely amazing skills like Spell Master or Victory Cry.
3. The damage on skills is kind of wonky, but just know that the game takes the square root of the power listed for a skill (if you go by the wiki). That means that multihits get a substantial advantage over single-hit skills. There are definitely exceptions (the big 3 physical skills, being Brave Blade, God's Hand, and Primal Force, are stronger than the multihits), but generally more hits>higher power.
4. Follow up to 3: Blade of Fury is absolutely ridiculous. From the time you an get it (low 40's, from Okuninushi or Hanuman), it is the strongest physical attack you get, against a single or multiple targets, until you get Brave Blade/God's Hand/Primal Force for single target or until you get Hassou Tobi or Pralaya for multi target. That's insane. It's only slightly weaker than Agneyastra in exchange for higher accuracy and less HP cost. Use it. It's minimum damage is literally the same as Vorpal Blade's damage
5. To illuminate why Black Frost is considered so good: it has no weaknesses and it gets Agidyne, Fire Amp, and Mind Charge. Wile you likely have had Mind Charge for quite a while now (Jack Frost learns it), Black Frost learns Agidyne rather early and Fire Amp EXTREMELY early. Unless you get lucky with Magician cards in shuffle time, Fire Amp will be your only Amp for quite a while.
6. I recommend, if possible, doing each dungeon in a single day. You shouldn't waste time that can be spent towards confidants, social stats, or bike skills.
7. Speaking of bike skills, only a few are really worth the effort. Imo, the good ones are Chie rank 5 (Bufudyne), Yukiko rank 5 (Mind Charge), Teddie rank 5 (Evade Phys), Naoto ranks 1, 2, 4, and 5 (Bufudyne, Ziodyne, Myriad Arrows, and Angelic Grace, in that order), and all the Rise ones.
Of those, I'd recommend only really going for Yukiko (all 5), Naoto ranks 1 and 2, and Rise. Rise's are just always good, Naoto's first 2 give her access to all the elements (she learns Mahamaon, Mamudoon, Agidyne, Garudyne, and Megidolaon naturally), and Yukiko's increases her damage substantially. Teddie has too many skill slots to really worry about Evade Physical in my opinion, and, while I'd probably use Bufudyne in the "ideal" Chie build, I'm not sure it's important enough for 5 bike rides. She'll suck at magic regardless.
8. Hang out with your Social Links, but not all of them are super important. The good ones are any party members, Adachi, Marie, and the Fox at the shrine. You might as well do Margaret's also, because it doesn't take time (it destroys your money, though), but the others are less important.
9. For early game bosses, I highly recommend using Yosuke's Sukukaja on party members whose weaknesses will be targeted. That means Yosuke himself on Shadow Chie (though this fight is easy anyway), Chie against Shadow Yukiko, and Yosuke again against Shadoe Kanji. The others are avoidable (just have Yukiko guard when Shadoe Teddie mind charges and you'll be fine), but for those, Sukukaja is nice. Alternatively, you can get a Wall spell and use it on them, but I prefer using MC for Rakunda and damage.

It's not that hard, I just have 1 AOE physical attack and agi, bufu, garu, and zio skills. I'm currently near the end of the game since shuffle time also gives two of the best cards ever on rare chances, Persona level up and Skill level up.

When this game first came out on PC I never played a persona game but I was drawn in by the art style and I was immediately hooked on everything. When the game was over I felt a little empty inside. Would love to wipe my memory and replay this again.

I just started playing the steam version for the first time. I have never been much of a console gamer so this is my introduction the series. Its fun so far. The time management idea and knowing I can miss things is kind of stressful though. It would be nice if I had an unlimited amount of time to grind levels and do my own thing but I guess you don't.

However, her social link is not that interesting to me,(it's not bad, just bland) and outside of that what does irk me in the story is how often they try to force the rise/yu angle with how blatantly thirsty she is for you.
As a cast member otherwise, she is great, with mostly great banter with the rest of the party.
Yukiko is also bland, which I admit. But she at least feels more natural for how she likes the MC. As well, her story was interesting to me, because I had been in a similer place before.
I think I could tolerate rise more if the poor flirting and seemingly jelous attitude to other characters was cut down. I know she's an idol, but it very much comes off bratty

I honestly found myself using Naoto a lot in the original game. Once you get an accessory that cuts SP costs, her insta-death spells become amazing random-battle sweeper moves and she becomes enough of a spellcasting powerhouse with Almighty skills to be useful against bosses. Wound up using her almost non-stop for the latter portions of the game.
Make sure to level up by fighting Shadows. I made the mistake of trying to spread my time out evenly and that was a huge mistake. If you fail to rescue a person, the game will send you back to the previous week and you will lose any progress you made during the week you're supposed to save someone. Trust me, it's awful and much easier to do than most people think. Just become OP by fighting Shadows and do the rest when you can. It will make the game a lot more enjoyable.

I’m a Nintendo purist who got a PS4 when Joker was added in smash. I watched the “Persona 5 for Beginners” video which eventually led me into a rabbit hole of the channel and saw the other Persona videos for Beginners. I told myself I wouldn’t watch them until I had someway to access the other games. I’ve literally waited since I passed Persona 5 sometime in 2018 to watch this damn video. I did start playing Persona 4 Golden earlier today (2023) but this has been in my “watch later” playlist for literal years. I love this series so much and it’s actually super helpful and super fun to watch I can’t wait to see you make more and (hopefully) I won’t have to wait years to see old videos.
