With a Timeline, BOSS EVH SDE-3000, Free the Tone Future Factory, and 2290p on my board, there is so many choices of More is More!! The 2290p learning curve is a bit of a Labor of Love but once you wrap your head around it, it becomes a Joyous Occasion to be bouncing a delay all over the stereo field!! but I think my favorite lead sound is the 2290p doing a ping pong effect and Stereo delays from the Future Factory!!
What a phenomenal demo Todd! I'm really glad you demonstrated it with a gained up amplifier. Dave Friedman told me that he was surprised by how well it worked with gain, adding he liked the alt feature - the Saturation control. You can crank that and get a really distorted echo that blends unexpectedly well, not harsh in any way. You discovered how it can do a great flanger with a short delay time and one repeat! Thanks again for the very informative video, and the killer playing too!
You guys really knocked it out of the park with this one. As you said the voicings and saturation make it a perfect complement to a heavily distorted tone and the form factor and workflow make it very unique. Definitely not "just another delay pedal". I liked it so much ended up buying this one!
The pedal stays in the background because in the repeats, the treble is heavily reduced. That's the secret to any good ambient delay tone, but this pedal does it better than most.
Yeah that was my main attraction to it and my main reason for choosing it over the Strymon Brig. Prompted mainly by Andy coming from a trio setting and in his words, using it as an always on pedal. The desire for support while soloing, without getting crowded out.
I have this pedal and absolutely love it. But I’m a mere hobbyist on the guitar - Leon you did an unbelievable job showing off just how magical it really is! I hope Andy and Robert get to see your beautiful work!!!
Wow. Was considering a Dig and hadn't paid too much attention to the Halo but it's started getting thrown up more in my feed and it has my attention now! Sounds effing incredible
I had the Halo, sounds great but was two fiddly , got the DIG so much easier to get tones from & not so fiddly . Hope that helps PS I never got it to sound as good as Leon, he's a Tonemaster@@Btcalex6.15
That hybrid picking part with the clean sound where you were plucking the rhythm with your thumb sounded amazing. 7:54-8:06 A cool delay that flies under the radar is the Vox Delaylab. Can be had for cheap and has kill/dry mode for Mesa amps with the infamous parallel effects loop. Two caveats though, it is huge and is ugly as sin. I hand painted mine a dark cherry metallic red with black tiger stripes 😂 Plugged it into my Trem-O-Verb recently and it sounds wicked on the tape setting.
Halo and Rockman echo do it for me. Those two alone are worth the price for solo heaven! I think Andy stays on the halo setting 90% of the time though, that's what I have heard him say anyway. Perfect demo Leon, best on the tube.
This is great stuff…..I have been fortunate to 100% replicate this on my ME90…..the ME90 has 2 delay effects which I use to get my dual delay effect and then I can add in the compression…blah blah…..but can replicate all the sounds on this pedal. You should do this as a feature on your channel. Great playing mate…love it and yes I did this all through my DGT PRS🎉
Amazing playing man, this pedal shines in stereo setups especially Andy's preset, this pedal was a great investment for the delay tonality I was going after.. 🤘🏻
Yeah, Leon, see what ya did to ME! And I'm glad you did. My kids and wife got me one for Dad's day and as soon as I'm off the 37 concert summer series I will build the 160mA capable power supply into my existing pedal board power supply. Cant wait, this things sounds wonderful and you truly covered alot of sonic terrain on the capabilities of this super cool delay pedal
My go to when watching gear demos is, when I like something, to immediately see how close I can get to it with what I already have. Good cure for GAS.. Timeline does a pretty good Halo so I saved a preset when it came out and use it quite a bit.
Dam that's some sweet delays 😮 it sounded heavenly with dirt....I bet that's not a cheap pedal, because it sounds quality all the way. Leon your the best at delay with dirt.
WANT!!!! or at least try. Thank You Chris and Leon for this...this and the AT are the only pedal in years that got me interested in budging off MFX. Best Regards and Best Wishes! Later: Oh HELL YEAH!!! Man you knocked it out of the park! FFS!!!! Those were mega atmospherics and had me at "I'm not worthy..I'm not worthy!!!" Very sano/tasty demo my dude. Thank You :) All the best to you, your Missus and the gatos.
Yes Leon, tweaking is the name of the game here. I love my Halo and currently I have aligned it with the Strymon Volante, with a Gigrig Wetter box in between, and oh my indeedy! These are some of the most amazing sounds you can create quite simply by dialing one against the other then use the Wetter Box to either blend or mix your delays. What fun! I would have to say though mate my absolute favorite is the Volante. Its just the features you have are endless. I feed these pedal in parallel out of the drawer in my rack. The system consists of a line mixer, a 24/96.a Lexicon MX200, then the TC Gmajor 2 for those detuned delays and then the Eleven rack is the main plug in feed. This is only the top half of my rack and I play with many of the settings and principles of dialing in as you've shown. I run a stereo system then mic'd to a PA and those delays are lush and the cleans are amazing. Dirt really makes things interesting with all the sounds from your followed guitarists in mind. But hey mate thanks so much for all you put into your videos for us it gives us many great ideas to play with but gig with as well. Cheers from the East Coast!🌅
Hi Leon! Great playing as usual. I have had my Halo about a year now and I have to be honest, I just leave it on the Halo setting! You make me want to explore it a little more. God bless and keep on rockin'!
Mine arrived a couple of days ago and it's a bit of a learning curve, but way cool. As someone transitioning from multi-effects to pedals, and not using many presets, the biggest attraction for me is 4 pairs of presets which in a trio setting, gives me a rhythm and lead setting for 4 song types. I've yet to loose myself in exploring the presets though. The range of sounds available is awesome. Everything from 'The Edge' type dotted 1/8th to washed out modulated reverb.
I’ve got it, it’s awesome. Wish it was midi. As soon as I got it spent about an hour or so researching the timing of the delays and made a pretty convincing version for my collider delay to incorporate into my live setup. I use the halo for recording at home.
Damn. Strong start with the signature Leon song. 💙 If I’m not mistaken (I have been mistaken many times), the “halo effect” is like a DMM long delay set with modulation set to lots of repeats and gives it that almost reverb sound.
Awesome pedal. I'm more of a vintage rack delay guy: pcm70 (v2) for some go to preset delays for Luke tones, and 2x roland sde3000 for my dual mono (stereo) mancave setup. That being said that little halo box would be way more practical for gigging!
Great video @leontodd! I have the halo and love mine. It is just such a great pedal. I do run mine in Mono straight into the front of a deluxe or princeton.
I'm just spending time in these days around a 1987 Steel Panther pedal that has both distortion and delay in one but ...this Keeley AT Halo is too intriguing indeed or ...it's just you that squeezed all the best out of that pedal :-) Thumbs up.
It's glorious, one of my "I'll never sell" pedals. It just gives you an instant god-like lead delay the second you plug it in. Gotta get one of the red ones for extra mojo.
If you check the Eventide forum and use search terms like Andy Timmons Halo Delay (etc), you will find a couple of algorithms and settings that do a really good job of emulating this pedal.
This has become my main delay, love having the presets on the small form factor, but of course the sound quality is the key. I use mine like Andy, with an expression hooked up so I can mix in realtime.
Mostly just here to hear you play. The delay sounds nice, seems somewhat PCM inspired. These kind of pedals seem to lack the thickness and percussion of using a pair of old mono delays with LFOs, like the Maxon DM-01s but I’m thinking that’s probably a good thing for a lot of people who don’t necessarily want the ambient quality of their tone to dominate their sound. If I didn’t HAVE to use a Collider to make my compact fly rig work, I think I’d maybe go for this one.
Sounds incredible, what was the signal path for this video? I feel like I would love this pedal in a plugin form, not sure how to get these tones into my DAW using a Kemper or AxeFX? I’m thinking I would need to run stereo LR/R out into 2 inputs of my interface and add amp sims…
I have the Halo and the AT version 2 distortion on my board in conjunction with the Stomp XL. The distortion goes before and the Halo is in the effects loop. The factory presets on the Halo have been so good I haven't had a need to tweak much. Love the tones.
I'm gonna have to disagree l, and maybe I just have a bad unit but as good and lush as it sounds. I have an issue with the nasty saturation and frequencies it brings with it to the point it's unbearable on higher gain stages. Have you tried it in higher gain channels for leads? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts? Anyways great content man!
Every time Leon demos something I want to buy it. When I saw the title I thought I was safe because I already had one but now I want a second one lol. One for my rack and one for my grab and go board. Dammit lol
I got the Halo just to see how close the Rockman Echo preset was,(I have an Original)….it’s 300ms and 500ms on the max delay time...the Halo is pretty close, not exactly the same, but it sounds great….
Nice demo Leon! I know you did a vid on the Fractal Aurora Delay model some time ago. Can that model be tweaked to match all the different modes on this physical pedal?
Del Verb won't do the Halo effect but it cops the Deluxe Memory Man thing really well. This doesn't have the tasty reverbs though, so it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison.
What's your favourite lead delay?

Strymon DIG. Dotted 8ths. Has tap tempo so for live stuff it’s perfect. Just tap for the song and you’re set
I have a KORG SDD-3000 pedal that I really find inspiring. The preamp is one of my favorites too.

It’s amazing how at that level it doesn’t step on your lead tone! Beautiful sounds and playing.
The pedal stays in the background because in the repeats, the treble is heavily reduced. That's the secret to any good ambient delay tone, but this pedal does it better than most.
