    keeping healthy discus
In this video, I'm going to show you how I do it to keep my discus healthy.
This is a very controversial topic, because every aquarium is an aquarium, every system is a system, every region is a region, every keeper is a keeper, and every discu is a discu.
I will show you how I go about trying to keep my discus healthy, which I think is the simplest and most intuitive way.
I am not saying that I do not have problems with my discus, because I document in video here on youtube everything that I do and happen in my aquariums and I have already shown several problems with them, but I can consider that I have been quite successful.
Follow these basic steps and it's halfway to success in keeping healthy discus.
Stay tuned, because there will be more news in the next videos...
I hope you enjoyed it and wanted to see more, and more, and more ... and your desire to subscribe and watch all my videos about discus fish, discus fish tank maintenance, nano tanks, aquascaping, discus fish treatments....
    Thank you very much. ❤️

it is funny about temperature - because many of us as breeders get to conclusion : for hybrids 27-28 ideal water temperature if are not feeded with beef heart, wilds excellent temperature is between 24 - 26 - because breeding in such high temperature is still running with increasing bacterias and parasites in tank . But i am open minded for discusion. Anyway i agree with everything in video.

      Hello my friend!!!
You're right, temperature, along with pH, is one of the most controversial points. I accept all opinions, because aquarium keeping is not an exact science... what I say is my experience and what works for me.
I know that some people keep discus at temperatures of 25°C without any problems, but I'm afraid to risk keeping them at those temperatures. It depends on each person and each aquarium.
Thanks for your comment and support. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Very useful tips! I am also changing water twice per week. Your altums are growing up really fast; I can see that they are already getting nice colours on their backs!

      Hello my friend!!!
Thank you so much... I am loving having altums, I always liked them and always wanted them. I honestly never found angelfish interesting, and this is where you can tell the difference between them... they are really different.
Since you gave me the tip on brine shrimp, they have started to grow a lot, and now they even eat frozen discus food. Since that is pure protein, you just watch them grow.

Don’t make it too difficult and don’t overthink it. Just keep you water consistent. That’s key. Discus can thrive in high ph and tds if it’s kept consistent. Just wilds and breeding discus need softer water

Sorry for the huge delay in responding. I've been a bit away from social media and the PSK aqua project, but I'm slowly making a comeback.
Responding to your comment, which I thank you very much for, I state that very thing. In my case it's wild Discus, but these are some basic principles one must have to succeed. It's not a matter of overthinking it, it's more a matter of knowing what you're doing.

Responding to your comment, which I thank you very much for, it's true, it's a great help, as long as you have good batteries. Too bad there is no electricity connection.
Happy new year to you and yours.

the most underrated tip from here is soap free hand washing , it only takes a few seconds for chemical compounds to kill fish :)

      Hello my friend!!!
It's true, sometimes the most basic details are the most overlooked, perhaps because they are obvious and one thinks they don't matter.
Many of the problems that happen, we are the ones who inadvertently introduce them into the aquarium.

Nice detailed video sir ! I enjoyed watching you also have a nice tank , i have 6 discus stendker they are pretty awesome fish ! Only 1 thing i noticed and want to give you as a tip the wavemaker you are using is good but verry dangerous i had the same and it killed one of my smaller fish that swimmed in at the side and got killed by the proppelor great videos i subscribed :)

      Thank you very much!!!
The Stendker discus are beautiful specimens... I have seen several and they are really beautiful.
As for the wavemaker I share the same concern as you, but I have never had any problems with fish. Only 1 or another snail that got on the propeller and when the wavemaker turned on... puff....

      Hello my friend!!!
      Thank you very much...
It's very important to have everything ready and in optimal condition before you put the discus in, and you're thinking well about wanting to anticipate that. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hello. What do you feed the discus here? Is it a beef heart mix? Also, where do you source the vitamins from. Thanks!

    • @PSKaqua

      Hello my friend!!!
Yes, the food is a mix of beef heart. I give it once a day with vitamins.
These vitamins I bought at my local fish store here in Lisbon, but I know the provenance is from Turkey.
      The company is Vit-Min supplements

@@spencerwahlmark8337 I have used Stendker and Piwowarski. I don't think with the variety that is on the market, there is a need to make the food myself.
I wouldn't mind doing it for the experience, but just that. A 500g plate gives me enough for about 1 month and costs around 14€ each. I don't think it pays to make it myself.
