So I also have a 7 month old Cavapoo. His name is Muskie Elon Mason. He can do many of the same tricks. Roll over was impossible until I watched a couple of You Tube videos. Instead of trying to push her over, try having her lie down then lead her head with a treat toward her hind legs, and she will very naturally roll partially over and then lead her with the treat to finish. The TH-cam videos demonstrating this are plentiful. I train Muskie every morning with small bits of freshly cooked hamburger and start every session with brushing his teeth(he hates this) and washing his eyes and face. Here is a list of his tricks so far( I am a very proud dad!). PS I need to get a life! List of Muskie’s tricks 8/21 Peek a boo Sit Stop Go Follow me Touch the chair Down Up Traif-Kosher Stay-ok Roll over Paw Right paw-left paw High five Go get raccoon Go get the ball Go get Tesla(mini) Go get banana Speak Dance Come Tap the brush Tap the bell
I just got a cavapoo last Friday that turns 9 weeks tomorrow and first week was so eventful! She is already getting the hang on bite inhibition which is so fast for such a young puppy. The poodle smarts are showing! We mostly are focusing on potty, leash, ride the car, grooming & handling, and other everyday essentials but I have so many hopes for tricks in the future! If you haven't found it already you can look up Do More With Your Dog for ideas and inspiration and take trick titles and you could even aim to become tricks dog champion :) I really hugely recommend rear end awareness because dogs don't know they have back feet so doing games and exercises can not only make tricks look more flashy but help avoid injury too! My favorite youtube video for inspiration on it is called "22 rear end awareness exercises" and that video is just fantastic. Weave between the legs and figure 8 are fun ones too, or reverse a circle around you or reverse in between your legs which with my border collie/corgi we call "Park the car" :) you can teach to crawl or to moonwalk which is backing up in a bow, or say a prayer or be shy. There's so many fun cute tricks! Even more favorite inspiration is Carolyn Scott & Rookie Grease routine, its a golden retriever dancing to you're the one that I want :)
That's awesome that you're working so hard on training your puppy! I haven't really looked in to specific training for rear end awareness but I'll definitely be taking a look. We've actually been working on weaving for the past week and there's so many others that I want to try. Thanks for the tips and info! 😊
Very impressed with all the tricks Sophie knows at 6-month. We just got a Cavapoo a week ago(he's 11 weeks now) and are working hard on training him. Did you follow any particular TH-cam trainer's method or just taught Sophie on your own? How long did you take you to see consistent results? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your comment! Congratulations on adopting a cavapoo puppy. I didn't follow any TH-cam training videos (although there are lots of them), I just worked on training with her everyday and kept treats on me all the time to reward positive behaviour. Some tricks took longer to learn (like come, stay, up and down), while tricks (like sit, leave it, paw, and high five) only took two days of training for her to consistently respond to the commands. In all honesty you have to be patient and consistent with providing treats and training and I'm sure your puppy will be able to pick up the commands too. I hope this helps, I'll be posting more videos in the future on how I trained Sophie to learn all these tricks and what treats we use as well. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Lol! Sophie is doing a Fabulous Job! Nessa we say "drop" to our girls (moodles) which is the same as "lay". If you're interested we picked a name for our girls with a specific name that only when we say that name they can eat the food. We did this to help protect them if somebody tried feeding them something that we did not know about. We go through all the different countries etc then in the middle say their magic word and they pounce, it's so funny ❤❤❤
She's very smart! I'd say forget about putting the treat on her paw thing. She obviously doesn't like it and I can't really see the point. Just keep working on the turn around and roll over tricks if you like those and concentrate on lessening her neediness to be with you.
Hello there my name is Katie and I'm new to your channel I absolutely love your beautiful dog your furry baby she's so adorable! Thanks for the comment. Your shih tzu sounds very smart, he definitely learned all those tricks fast! I've got to get Sophie learning some more as well.
What tricks should Sophie work on next? Let us know! 🐶🤔
Dancing!(like beg)
I think you should teach her sit pretty!
You should teach her red light and green light,
It’s also a game. When you say RED LIGHT she has to stop
And when you say GREEN LIGHT she can go

Thank you! 😊

Wonderful! I love it. My Daisy cavapoo, is 6 mos old . Try teaching her to beg ... all cute!
Beg would definitely be cute to teach.
Please show us how you taught her to do the Trick

I love the idea of having a unique word that they can recognize as "ok, this is safe". That would be cool to have once we get to travel again!

Hi. Roll over, catch her doing it and repeat immediately. My cavapoo caught on quickly. They’re smart!
I will definitely keep an eye out for that! Cavapoos do indeed learn things quickly. 😊
AMAZING

I use hand signals combined with vocal commands
I love that, I've been slowly starting to incorporate hand signals with commands! 😊
