There is something about the way this orchestra plays which borders on the magical. They grab my attention from the very start, and hold it throughout the entire piece. Beautiful playing in the quiet passages, boundless energy in the dramatic, loud ones. That was a Mahler 1 to remember. Maestro Schmalfuss looked exhausted but very happy at the end, as the audience clapped and cheered a truly magnificent performance. As someone who watches and listens from afar, my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making and uploading this outstanding video.
Agreed 💯 percent, they should have added at least another 5 minutes or so of the audience applauding, because this orchestra and conductor deserved a Standing Ovation, No Question!!!!!
