    I will vouch for the Roll Stability Control. I was driving my 2011 F350 4x4, SRW, with a 3,000# slide-in Wolf Creek camper. An SUV in front of us stopped suddenly with no brake lights. I slammed on the brakes and swerved off the road onto the shoulder and then back to the left. The truck and camper stayed upright despite a maneuver that I was sure would flip us over. The camper was only secured with turnbuckles and a good frame mounted tie-down system. If you watch the video again, you can see one instance where the computer locks up the right front wheel to regain stability of the vehicle. It was a lifesaver for us- props to Wolf Creek for having an aluminum superstructure as well.

    Should have tested the single rear wheels.. A truck with duals isn't something that flips easily.

      Exactly, that's why they tested the duallie for the cameras and the data they out in the sales brochure probably had an * that says *vehicle tested was a fullY loaded platinum f450, your results may vary. Lol

      MustangDriver1734 I had a guy hauling a camper in a 1500 Z71 completely grenade his rear axle driving the speed limit. i broke an 8.8 Ford rear end because of too many one wheel burnouts. but over loaded, jumping, donuts, burnouts, 4LO four wheel skids pulling everything under the sun (stumps out, trees over, planted forklifts, planted tow trucks, etc), bulldozing trees to unblock roads (brush guard), etc. i BEAT THE F out of my 2001 F150 and it took it. This fool hauls a camper and BOOM! The mechanic pulled the cover, saw inside, put the cover back on and told him it's gone. everything is gone. So you are correct, Ford makes the best truck. Chevy does make the most comfortable. Dodge has the best Diesel motor BLOCK. Everything smog is literally a crap shoot.Our 2010 Ram 5500s were great till about 150,000. one lost turbo communication and the other clogged the DPF. our 2015s are back and forth to the dealer. Whereas i met a guy with a 2011 F350 SRW with 110,000 looking and acting like the day he bought it.

      Its because since the truck is a dually it's a lot harder to roll over due to the more contact with the road

    I drive a 2017 F-350 dually flatbed for work and haul 7K on the back daily and that truck handles very well with that weight. Though it feels like a go kart empty and will break your back if you hit a bump.

    Unless that metal framework weighs 4,000 + lbs I do not understand how it simulated a camper.

      Think it's supposed to weigh 7500lbs

  • @Robert8455
    @Robert8455 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Nobody I know is going to drive around with a simulated camper and have huge outriggers attached. Why not strap on a real camper and ditch the outriggers and do the same test. The outriggers will affect the center of gravity. Real campers will also have liquids that will slosh around during an evasive maneuver. Oh wait, this is a Ford infomercial.

    • @JohnSmith-kp4gl
      @JohnSmith-kp4gl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Robert DeMilo And Chevy is switching to aluminum. and how much liquid does a slide in like this hold? and where does it hold it? down low, not at the roof. I'm sure they'll lend that thing to any of the competitors that want to try. BTW, compare the 2017 Super Duty frontal crash to the rest. The new (and old) frames of the Ford didn't bend at the bed. both the Chevy and the Ram bent badly. they performed worse than the 2016 Super Duty that's using a frame that's unchanged since 1998. The 1998 Ford C-channel frame outperformed the 2016 Chevy and Dodge. isn't that a shame? what's the relevance of the frame bending during the frontal crash? if it bends in a crash, what does it do when overloaded? i put 9.5 cubic yards of chip on an 2007 F250 with an F350DRW aluminum bed. that's 4,000-6,000lbs. We were in a severe pinch. But nothing was damaged because it was mild steel and designed to flex. I'd LOVE to load a competitor with that much weight and see what breaks.

    I think this was a f450 or f550 notice they did no close up of the f series badging on the fenders. They just consider it a super duty. But not all super duties are made equally the same.

    • @andywiesenhofer3384
      @andywiesenhofer3384 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Murillo If you pause the video at 0:07 you can zoom in and it clearly shows an f350 badge. The truck also only has 8 lug wheels whereas the f450 has 10

    What gets me is they got if they have stabilizers sticking out on the side in case it does roll the ground will catch it I guess worth doesn't have to liability and doesn't have too much good sense if it will hold that because if they did they wouldn't have it there to protect the truck from rolling over they would have them without it you show it is reliable without those good job Ford one of your better ideas

    I wonder why they would leave the hub's locked in so the four-wheel-drive was sprinting

    • @greatlakespowerstrokefx4
      @greatlakespowerstrokefx4 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can see the u joints spinning ill believe you. I cant see it. Perhaps its the resolution on my phone. Even with the hubs unlocked there is more than enough stiction in the hubs to spin the axle shafts. Its really takes very little energy to spin them. Thus why it makes next to no difference to fuel economy to have your hubs locked in. If they did use as much energy to spin them as people think, the axle would not be able to be kept cool. The entire point of the needle bearings in the u joints and the wheel bearings and the carrier bearings, its to minimize rolling resistance.

    just don't manage to flip any. Summer 2016 I flipped my 05 f250 longed extended cab after another driver caused me to fishtail, it was rainy and traveling 50 I hit the median and flipped the truck landing on the roof, the roof instantly collapsed and I crawled out of the passenger door window. I survived and only managed a broken neck and some nerve damage. Loved that truck and I wish I can get it back. Any Ford pickup I get is getting a real cage, only then it wl be a perfect truck!
