@RyanJL337 The power slide on the Ram was only the center third from 09-18. Titan rear sliders span about 50%. As far as factory goes, only the tundra Crewmax drops the entire rear glass. There have been aftermarket rear sliders though dating back to the days of the Bigfoot cruiser rear windows on Fords in the late 80's.
My dad had a 2013 escape from work and it was a piece of junk. The turbo blew out, it had no balls, interior was small. The company then bought him an explorer which was much better
You illustrated the power and size of this vehicle pretty well. Literally left me jaw dropped a few times and I’ve been next to this pickup a few times
Superficially just about the same. F450 obviously has dual rear wheels, but the biggest advantage is the turning radius. The F450 is more mobile than an F250, ironically.
I just got a 2018 f250 gas long bed for $37,500 plus tx. Obviously not loaded but who cares about most of that stuff. I tow a large boat and I'm very happy.
James It's kind of hard to explain. I don't mean to talk down to you in any way but for example I have a 16 year old truck with over 180 thousand miles. Most people (even including my own sister) thought buying a truck with such high mileage was a terrible idea. But I know the 7.3l powerstroke diesel engine it it will last well over 500k due to it being one of the most reliable diesels in the world. On top of that, my truck has the same body style of the truck my dad used to have when I was a kid. I have almost 2 decades of amazing memories in the truck from learning to drive, to taking the boat to the ocean, to the family camping trip. Not to mention my dad and I always shared a bond over our love of trucks. What I'm trying to say is me and almost every truck owner have some kind of bond with their truck that they wouldn't trade for anything in the world. It's not that we are trying to act better than everyone. We just share a deep connection to our vehicles that makes us not want to give them up for anything. Hope this explains some things about us weird truck guys. Cheers mate 😃
Henry Ford was also an unabashed anti-Semite. Things change to suit the market and given Ford's reputation for producing very durable pickup trucks, it's evident that some deem it worthy. However, I'm just not a pickup truck kind of guy and I doubt I could ever (personally) justify the price. Remember about 15 years ago...when people were driving around in the H2 Hummer for no apparent reason? I used to look around waiting for a tricked-out M1A1 Abrams tank on 35" rims to round the nearest corner. We threw logic out the window for a little while there for a decade or so lol.
Since it cost 80 000 dollars you would think it would have auto locking hubs...but it looks like you hav eto go out and lock them manually...jesus....for 80 grand it should have auto lockers.
You’d get a kick out of the F-450. 30,000+ towing, same engine/trans. And a longer wheelbase. And 10 lugs. And a wide track front axle (seriously, turning radius is amazing and much better than a comparable f-350)
@@christinearmington It's like 2 inches lower, making it almost useless. Plus, the rubber steps sticking out of a chrome bumper don't exactly look that nice.
Everyone has a trick tailgate now to compete with it. Chevy's actually seems a bit more innovative at first glance. Then you try and use it after putting a trailer hitch on and you've got a very expensive dent in your brand new tailgate. Ram has one now that can open like French doors, but I don't really see how useful that would be. Ford's is the least interesting, but it's also the only one that I don't really have any major problems with other than just adding a lot of complexity to a simple part.
Dont forget that manufacturers overly inflate their specs. I doubt this piece of garbage could pull any significant amount of weigh. More than likely the DPF system will have an issue and throw the powertrain into limp mode. If not that, then something else will probably fail. All this new shit will allure you with fancy bells and whistles but they're just that, shit. If you want to haul heavy, buy a used 7.3. 20K in total including the price of the truck will get you a 7.3 which is what you need and without fail. There's a reason they were extremely popular... They were extremely successful.
With that F250 being a diesel, that start delay you are seeing is more than likely the computer cycling the glow plugs which makes it a hell of a lot easier to start and is nicer to the engine. In the older days, (I own a '96 7.3l powerstroke) you had to flip the key forward engaging all electrical and cycles the glow plugs.
Your car reviews are good, and you are clearly a CAR guy. But you evaluated a 3/4 ton truck on the same criteria as you use to evaluate an Audi coupe. That would be like a truck guy rating Audis to see how well they haul 16' ladders or 3,000 pounds of gravel and then giving them a score. If you are going to rate trucks, get in the mindset of someone who uses trucks as trucks. Put 2 yards of gravel in the bed and go test the brakes. Want to test acceleration? Fine - do it in sand. Put a 10,000 boat behind it and drive a road course. Look at the diameter or the rotors. Look at the drive train... what kind of transmission, transfer case, rear end and front end are under it. Dana 60? Not a valuable question to ask about a Lexus. Is the transfer case gear driven or chain driven? Is the truck pre-configured for or does it have an electric trailer brake controller? And a thousand other truck things that just don't apply to an S class. Don't get excited about fold-away running boards. A truck isn't a big car with a missing deck lid. It's a truck. Evaluating a truck on car qualities doesn't make any more sense than testing a Lotus for maximum ground clearance when hauling a travel trailer.
Good point. We have a 43' fifth wheel that we use on the weekends and for vacation. Even though Doug thinks the F-250 is gargantuan (which I did when I went to the F-250 from a 150), the F-250 from his video is way too light to tow my fifth wheel (pin weight is too high. . .. tried it with my'15 250, no bueno even with Timbrens). I'd like to see Doug do the test run in this with 43' feet of trailer behind it. We now have an '18 F-450. Much bigger, but handles well (its easier to park with the 360 cam and wide track front axle). Every tool has its purpose. BTW, I'm not a truck fanboy. My last car was a supercharged Jag XF and I took it to the limits, which is why my wife made me get rid of it (google Jeremy Clarkson's review of the XFR). She now has a CLS-550 and we have a Lexus SUV. Getting in and out of the CLS is the closest memory I will ever have to my own childbirth (i am a big guy). The Lexus is alright; however, I take the 450 into downtown Dallas when I need to go there because I really like it. If Doug wants to do a proper test of a SuperDuty, he's welcome to come to Dallas. I'll pull the fifth wheel from storage and give him the keyfob. Hopefully, at a minimum, he will just curb the trailer tires (rather than actually hitting anything with the trailer). If he gets really good, he can try to back it into the storage space. It is fully enclosed with a 2 foot margin of error on either side. The truck and trailer combo is 1.5 feet less than the distance from the door of the storage unit from the door of the storage unit opposite it in the parking lot. When it is attached, we fuel at the trucker side of the truck stops. Not much shorter.
@@dennisholmgren9302 Agreed. I watched the video as a long-time truck guy (also classic era muscle car guy). Several half-ton pickups, '76 Jimmy, '78 Scout II, 96 Hummer (before the notion of an H1), and my current F-350. The thought of a reviewer getting excited over a "cool back window", a ladder in the tail gate, the size of the emblem, the fold-away steps, room in the fender well, and other Suzie-homemaker stuff was disappointing. The test drive was no different than one you'd do with some Audi or Lexus. Nothing about the review had anything to do with it being a truck, other than how excited he got about it being tall. Even then it was tempered with a city guy in a big city driving it as opposed to doing what trucks do. I'm fairly certain he has no appreciation for what trucks do. The fact that they can do what they do while seating 6 adults in damn nice comfort while producing mountains of torque makes them that much more of a standout. Maybe one day he'll learn about trucks. I think he's better off producing car videos where the number of cup holders matter, the coolness of the key fob is important and focus is put on the little picture on the A/C recirculation button. Some of the car videos are really, honestly, fun to watch.
Good job Doug! Leaving aside all disrespectful comments I appreciate the work that you put in to educate and show us all types of vehicles. I hope one day you get a segment on National TV. ‘13 Raptor modded proud owner.
largol33t1 , I would definitely watch his show, since Top Gear is not what it use to be. Maybe if many of us reply positively to his vids, somebody will consider it. Happy Holidays !!!
The length and wheelbase length you mentioned is for the crew cab with the 8 ft bed, not the 6.7 ft bed, which is what you were reviewing. Wheelbase is around 160 inches and overall length of around 250 inches for the 6.7 ft bed.
I think we can cut him slack on this since this info was most likely provided by the dealer and lets face it the dealers i have dealt with know very little about what they sell.
Im a truck guy, I own 2. I use them for work. I just never understood the appeal of a luxury truck. $80k? I wouldnt want to put one scratch on that for that money. I mean, I feel if I dented it in any way, I would cry. If you want to spend that money to haul cow poop or chickens to market, be my guest.
Papa Bugg I don’t know why you wouldn’t want luxury? Love my king ranch. Extremely comfortable, all kinds of features that I use and enjoy daily, and allows me to pull a horse trailer or car trailer on the weekends. I don’t feel that there’s any shame in luxury while you’re working. I take care of every vehicle I’m in, no matter how nice
@@Austinchaynes for me personally, a truck, a work one anyhow, is something you dont need to stress on. I dont want to have to clean it after everyday. If there is mud in it no biggie. And as well all the luxury, I personally dont see the need for it when your working in mud and digging ditches. I like luxury, hell I want a new Cadillac, those are sweet. And I like trucks, but for me, drive it and forget it. If it gets a dent, it pride, lol. Now if you like luxury in the truck, all good and I bet your truck is nice. But I like other vehicles for that. Like my 2016 pilot
Papa Bugg I guess it’s just a different mind set. Work truck or not, I would still baby it. I’m just really anal when it comes to my vehicles. And I guess a lot of people need a weekend warrior. They don’t necessarily work “out of” their truck during the week, but need something with pulling power or the ability to haul on the weekend. When you need a truck you need a truck. No way around that. Plus long trips are more comfortable pulling a trailer, especially with all the tow features
The security entry pad on Fords actually have ten separate numbers capability. The entry buttons function by rocking the button towards the top making a one or rocking towards the bottom making a two. It is the same for 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 etc., depending on which direction you rock the buttons. This makes for a more secure code variance.
David Washington so? Buy a base model then. This truck is for people who need both a truck and a comfortable car but don't want to pay for 2 cars. Ideal car for small business owners without kids yet.
autofixation this is definitely a work truck at today’s standards, I mean getting a platinum is over board as fuck. But doesn’t not make it a work truck, my boss has a 2017 f-150 with a ton of packages and we are doing roofs every week. Seems like it’s a work truck to me
Ray Hartmann all super duty’s from 3/4 too 1 1/2 tons are all pretty much the same in terms of pure size, only things that very are the suspension, maybe frame, gearing, and possibly the drive shafts
I grew up and live in rural america so I'm the exact opposite, I grew up in and drive pickups on a daily basis and own 2 so when I get into a car and even some crossovers I feel like I'm in a clown car.
Ares Surber same. I own a 91 f150 lariat, but unfortunately it's life is slowly coming to an end so now I drive a little 98 nissan sentra. It took a long time to get used to and I'm a small guy, only 5'6
I'm from Australia and we have some big cars here but my visit to the US really changed my idea of what a big car is. This video brought it back. Mind you, you have MUCH wider roads, I've seen an occasional US import here and it really struggles to sit in its lane as ours are so narrow. But yeah, no video or image prepares you for when you see the thing in flesh.

Henry Ford:"Ill make a vehicle that is useful, strong and most importantly Affordable"
William C. Ford Jr: * makes a $80,000 pick-up *
Buy a Fiesta then
Henry Ford was also an unabashed anti-Semite.
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson I would buy a Fiesta if their IIHS rating was good.... but its not.
😂😂😂 who needs that when you can buy a Toyota pickup for 40 grand with 1 million miles
You’d get a kick out of the F-450. 30,000+ towing, same engine/trans. And a longer wheelbase. And 10 lugs. And a wide track front axle (seriously, turning radius is amazing and much better than a comparable f-350)
I remember hearing about the improved turn radius on those. Sounds pretty neat
There’s actually 6 cup holders. The front one slides over
make that 8 total cup holders! 2 in the back when you fold the center console down
I’m a ram guy but that tailgate step is a really nice feature.
Chevy has a step built into the bumper. Much more elegant design.
@@christinearmington nothing against Chevy, but my boot got stuck in one of those bumper steps causing me to fall once and nearly broke my foot.
christinearmington they look gay and take so long to make into the step I will take my ford step any day
@@christinearmington It's like 2 inches lower, making it almost useless.

*Thank you for giving practical uses for the specs! I had no fkin idea how I was gonna take my elephant, hippo and lotus across the country*

Be careful -- you probably don't want to put your elephant and hippo together on the trailer. I'd put the Lotus in between to act as a buffer.
Meat Father .....this comment made me laugh....well done...
Doug DeMuro your awesome Doug
In the older days, (I own a '96 7.3l powerstroke) you had to flip the key forward engaging all electrical and cycles the glow plugs.

no other truck youtuber does it better than doug.
