- In this episode the Nerd is revising some of the games from the First Season of The Angry Video Game Nerd such as Top Gun, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Back to the Future Games. There was two more Back to the Future Games where the Nerd did not review before. Back to the Future on Sega Genesis, and Super Back to the Future II on Super Famicom. I just heard an interview with Bob Gale, the producer from the three Back to the Future films. In the interview, he talks about how horrible the games are and credits AVGN with giving a very accurate review of them .
Just wanted to drop that here. James has some top-shelf viewers.
I imagine! Gary Whitta (writer of Rogue One and Book of Eli) is a HUGE fan too.
I love AVGN, I watch every new episode that he makes.
I remember playing II and III on the NES with my cousins at their house. It was incredibly frustrating.

That's gotta be my favourite AVGN line of all time.
That was the center of their marketing (even though it didn't matter and was the only thing the Genesis/Mega Drive had over the SNES/Super Famicom)
1. Having a better resolution doesn't matter if it's graphically worse in every other way.
2. Only one game is known for being uncensored on the Genesis/Mega Drive and it was only unsencored with a cheat code, out of thousands that were mostly kid friendly anyways

I always keep coming back here for his reaction to the japanese Back to the Future, slowing hearing the music going through scenes and realizing it's the actual only decent one and we didn't get to play it

Actually, Power of Love *and* Johnny B. Goode were in Back to the Future NES, sped up by like 500%. Power of Love is what plays during the levels, and Johnny B. Goode is what you hear in that stage, as observed.
They are both so distant from what the songs actually sound like that they might as well not be in the game though.
@@Cream147player Somebody did a comparison of the songs at the proper speed with the originals and they're much closer at the real speed. Like you could use them for karaoke even. They're not perfect, but I don't think you've heard the real speed versions to actually compare since you said they're so distant.
You can slow them down in the TH-cam playback settings. They're about 3 rather than 5 tines speed and Johnny B Goode is recognisable; Power of Love, less so. Neither of them are anything like backing track accurate.

There was an interview with the lead writer on the movie, he said he was giving suggestions and the company told him "You don't know anything about video games, let us do that"

Yeah, I was a fan of the Roger Rabbit film and always liked picking out the obscure old cartoon characters in the movie. For example, Koko the Clown makes a brief appearance in the film. I figured for the title card to include some other characters that were not in the movie just for fun -Mike

I always had to get my dad to land the plane in Top Gun. After seeing this video I decided I had to go back. 25 years later I finally did it.
Bravo! That foul plane. The problem was that to go up you actually had to accelerate, which threw your speed out of the proper range, and then when you slowed down to fix your speed it threw off your altitude again. 🛬🌊

Regarding the clusterfuck of part 2 & 3, my dad actually wrote out an elaborate series of maps and directions on what i remember as about 50 pieces of paper, because he sat with me and my brother one day to watch us play it, and must have though "there's no fucking way this game is that complicated!"

Back to the Future could be ROM hacked into a decent game with the following changes:
The music for the street levels is a rotation between the Back to the Future theme, Power of Love, and Back in Time.
2. Only two street levels between each mini game.
3. The game doesn't auto-scroll and Marty doesn't perpetually walk. He can take his time.
4. A life bar along with health bonuses instead of a timer and the picture. No more picking up clocks. We'll leave the bowling ball and skateboard in the game.
5. Leave Lou's Cafe and the Enchantment Under the Sea dance stages the same, but swap out Johnny B. Goode for Earth Angel...
6. ... and have Marty play Johnny B. Goode in a BONUS GAME after you get George and Lorraine to kiss. I'd also add in a bonus game after Lou's Cafe where Marty is on a skateboard and has to evade Biff's car.
(The School game can definitely be improved upon, but I'm drawing a blank on how. )
7. The DeLorean should be avoiding potholes, not lightning. (Again, I'm sure a more creative mind than mine could figure out how to revamp that stage entirely.)
8. Give it a decent friggin' ending instead of the text box.
Also make the milkshake part less of a pain
The timer and the picture make sense to the plot though. Marty had to race to save him and his family from dissapearing.
The text ending is just as bad as 'Dr. Samuel Becket never returned home.'

There is a level skip cheat for Back to the Future part III on Genesis: pause the game and press up, down, left, right while holding A. That way, you can actually see the other three levels, but they're not that great.
I've actually gotten there the hard way. If I remember rightly there was marty at the firing range then he was throwing custard pies at dudes then he was walking on the top of the train heading to the Delorean

Dr.Beef Nintendo? Definitely not. But you can probably find SOMEBODY to pin it on who isn't dead. Don't expect much of a payoff though, unless a child had a bad experience with this incident. That isn't very likely, though, because most children will hang up when they realize that 1. the number is obviously different, 2. you need a credit card, and 3. that it's about something as gross as sex. In other words, your chances in court would be circumstantial at best.
