Engine Is In 1974 Ford F-100. Header Clearance?

Installed the 390 engine in the 1974 Ford F-100 along with the C6 transmission. Starter and Header clearance fun.

I just put my headers back into my 71 F100 4x4 shortbox with a 390. The passengers side you almost have to remove the engine. Undo both engine mounts & take the pass mnt out completely. Lift the engine until the trans hits the tunnel. Have starter removed & even loosen my alternater & move it all to one side. Then & barely but I can get my header from the bottom up, between the engine & the frame mnt. It's tight. Like I have to still hit it & knock it through. But then once it's on & engine back on its mnts I can put my starter in or out with everything in place. I also have a 4spd.

Summit Racing offers the smaller body starter, going to do an install in the morning.

Let us know how it fits. The headers were designed around a stock starter. So a smaller one if available should fit betrer.

The starter and headers fit perfect. Just enough clearance, did have to pull the motor mount and re-route a couple of hoses. Also made a jumper from solenoid since there is the original solenoid on the fender.

What about the Sanderson headers shorty headers I have issues with long tube headers I have a 68 Ford F250 with a 390 Fe it hits on the transmission bellhousing it's a 4-speed but I'm going to convert to a C6 automatic transmission on it

Nice video...i have 74 f100 460 c6 2wd witch hedman headers did you use ??? 89280 or 89140 ???

Headman 89810 is what I used. This truck in the video has a 390 cubic inch. It is an "FE" engine. (360, 390 and 428 are FE). Your 460 is not the same engine type. It is very different. Even the bell housing pattern is different.

@@fsctrucking Also, according Hedman the 89810 will not fit a on a special camper or vehicles equipped with a front sway bar.
