Fantastic job, it's a mad beast and between yourselves and the Tank Museum it's being done justice! So much better than all that paper panzer rubbish! Can't wait for the next installments. 👍🤯👍
I mean... the FV4005 is really cool, and this project has been really enjoyable to watch, but it's not like the U.S. didn't have an equivalent of the time. Have you checked out the T28/T95 super heavy tank the U.S. designed to break through the Siegfried Line? That thing was a monster, and while it never served in the war, it was heavily tested by the U.S. Army. Thankfully, there's still one in existence today at the U.S. Army Armor & Cavalry Collection, right next to Fort Benning in Georgia.
Have you seen the size of the gun on the T28/T29? Yeah, it's not 183mm like the FV4005, but it does have a very long 105mm gun with a higher muzzle velocity, meant to penetrate reinforced concrete bunkers. Personally, I think 105mm is good enough, especially considering what the tank was meant to go up against. The U.S. Army certainly could have made a larger caliber gun, but then it likely wouldn't have fit in the chassis, which was already huge and heavily armored (kind of needed when you're going up against the Seigfried Line).
Someone over at Klaas had a brainwave ! (Send a new Klaas scorpion over to Mr Hewes). Theres a.good chance he'll want to buy one , once he sees how quickly he can unload the FV 4005 Turret and gun assembly !😏 🤣😂
I'm surprised Ted didn't offer to pull the tank into the yard. This whole project has been fascinating this far - and I have no engineering interest - or so I thought!! Such a great testament to the Hewes crew!!
Many thanks, Mr Hewes and team, for taking us through the restoration of the FV4005. When it's finished, we need to get the Tank Museum into letting you restore something else that's different. Their Jagdtiger would be quite an interesting project.
As always a really interesting video. The nation will be in your debt for not only restoring this important piece of history but you videoed it for generations to see. Terrific joe Joe, Jack and the team. Sorry almost forgot Ted.
That telehandler is one Claas act. Christmas comes early to team Hewes. Turret, tracks, HUGE barrel, new gloves and the bobble hat. I'm so excited I think I did a wee....
Of the 58 channels I'm subbed to, this is the best. It's been great watching it grow from a few thousand to quarter of a milion subbers. The none-glossy, non-loud, non-flashy editing formula is the winning formula.
I know this is a lot of work and frustration right now, but years from now, you will look back and it will be a source of pride be involved in this restoration project.
Well done team coming together isn’t it Last leg Final stint Checkered flag in sight All down hill from here Here comes the bride congrats Mr &Mrs Jack
Gotta say , you, Jack and the rest of the crew are doing a bang up job so far. That turret is tremendous, until you get the gun set up inside her. Love your tutorials and Jacks comments. Cheers!

Instead of filling the box with that gun thing, how about a kitchenette, bedroom, storage and shower unit. I'm sure it would be useful for stealth camping when mounted on the chassis.
Three bacon butties down my neck an a bucket of strong sweet tea watching this. Amazing work guys top quality restoration work, from a top team, roll on next video. Nice to see the scabby jacket has vanished. Keep at it.
It's always nice when you see the things finally coming together, it's going to look Amazing. Those Bearing Bushes will be made of Phospher Bronze, the Crown wheels in the old Foden Diffs were made out of a solid chunk of it back in the day and they were still using it for the Bearings on Railway wagons up until about 15-20 years ago.
Well done, it's great seeing it all coming together. The Claas telehandler is making life so much easier, they're quality machines, like everything Claas make. They manufacture most parts themselves. 👍👏👍
Excellent work as usual guys,, the 005 is lookin great, lookin forward to the next few videos,,, have a great day at Jack's wedding, congratulations Jack
As someone who has been to bovigton afew times and actually saw the FV4005 shortly before the restoration was know/widly know i remember looking at them with some friends and thinking how the tank was just rusting away. And that same tank now looks so good. So nice to see the work and progress as its been done too. Cant wait to go to tank fest and see the finished giant roaming the exhibition area.
Absolutely incredible progress, gents. This is history and something special. We are extremely lucky to watch this. Thanks for sharing this, Joe. All the best on your wedding day, Jack. Wishing you and your lovely lady a long and healthy future together
I am so fucking happy to see the project from start to almost finish and to also see the old girl finally get some love, I was around 12 when I seen this beast of a tank, at tank fest as a gate guard and I think I photo of me sat on the tank barrel. and so keep it up @MrHewes and the team you gents are doing great work with the channel and work with the FV4005, keep it up lads it is look fucking great.
The old battleaxe is coming along beautifully now, Joe. I do hope that Jack's wedding goes well and doesn't interfere too much with the ongoing work. I suspect that there will be times when his absence is definitely noticed. I have confidence that Adam and Seb will step up in a big way. Team Hewes doesn't do failure. Seeing as the next Tiger Day isn't until September, does this mean that you have until August to get everything done? 😊❤❤❤😊
Only came upon your channel this morning and I’m impressed with your knowledge and enthusiasm your crew show. Even more impressed by the cleanliness of the workshop where everything is in its right place. Wishing you all the best for the channel, you deserve it.
Just watched mat the fitter on his latest video at your yard , couldn't notice how disrespectful he was to you all. I couldn't watch all of it and sticking up for Jack awesome , great crew, great channel 👍.
It's CLAAS! The work you have done Joe and team, is Museum Standard if not better ! Now you just have to do the small bits - That is where the time goes. Superb work so far not least to Jack for the paint job he's done - Oh BTW Hope everything goes well on Monday and he and she get out of there safely. Thanks for the video, as normal excellent content.
Hi, did you know that there is a plastic model kit of the FV4005, no? Well there is! Found it on utube, along with videos of the build up with you and Jack. AFV is the company that made it. So you and your mates have made the big time, Cheers…
you have to take you hat off to them boys designing this stuff - i remember them days when i worked with the MoD, i always admired the ideas coming forward and the guys researching to see if stuff was possible, welding heavy parts onto tanks seems nearly impossible when you compare how we work today, then you check out the welds on this puppy, mental - i been watching the boys stitching tanks back together in the Australian Armor Museum, i was amazed to see stainless welding done, amazing work there and just as entertaining here, great work Joe, your a clever bunny, great project congrats to Jack, you make a lovely couple hehe
Unloading was pure claas. Sadly, our Cent Arv at Chertsey was in such demand for dragging dead Challys back from the test track, we never got to "Painting and decorating".
More videos of the FV4005 is never a bad thing. IT is amazing to see this tank come together, a unique piece of history that will soon be fully operational and looking quite nice!

Well that was well worth the wait guys that really is comming on strong now final stretch I'm sure youbwill be glad when it's running and turret fitted lol gutted I won't see it on the Friday at tankfest as I'll be in lulworth running ranges little smaller than 128mm keep it up great stuff 😀
What’s everyone’s thoughts?
Bloody wonderful.
Stella! Champion! Well done lads. C

The amount achieved in such a short time frame is amazing, hats off to you and Jack and the team plus the boss Ted...
Turret is big enough for Jack to live in, was my first thought.
USA: "Everything is bigger over here."
FV4005: "Hold my HESH round"

That’s in extremely poor condition, I believe?
@johnnunn8688 I believe so. If I remember correctly, it's missing its Maybach engine, a set of Porsche layout road wheels and probably a lot more.
Just buy the maus from fallen soviet union vol 2, when it falls.

You guys have done alot of work on her but it's worth every minute, she is a gem! That barrel will make any other tank a little insecure about theirs!
my biggest insecurity now is the turret door might just be the same as my height
Best part of the week when another video is uploaded👍👍👍

Yesssssss!! Another FV4005 update!! Let’s gooooo🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mr Hewes you are a leg end. A man outstanding in his own field!
I know this is a lot of work and frustration right now, but years from now, you will look back and it will be a source of pride be involved in this restoration project.
Looking brilliant. The only thing little about tanks is the patience ya have for getting bloody heavy awkward parts back into place. Much respect.
What a way to start the weekend! Joe and the crew climbing over a great restoration project!
You should christen FV4005 Christine, because she looks absolutely pristine! What a fantastic job you and the Museum have done to restore her.
Groan.
Trunnion bearings most likely phosphor bronze - harder than brass & better for lubrication.
Guys, this is going to be the best tank restoration ever, the team has their heart and soul in this.
Always a pleasure doing time with you - thank you for sharing.
