One of my favourite bands I still have my back stage pass when they did the quadrophenia tour and this band started in 1964

Yep, sometimes you’re just in the mood for that gritty screaming voice - like when you’re working out. That voice can push you up the next hill when you’re jogging.

Roger Daltrey still has the vocal chops at closing-in-on-80. If you want to hear him at his peak, anything off Who's Next or Quadrophenia will serve you well. (Quadrophenia is their second rock opera, so ideally, listen to the whole thing at once. If you don't want to muck around with all of it, at least do "Love, Reign O'er Me.")
Keith Moon never met restraint in his life, which did sadly catch up with him. The band continued for a few years after his death before taking a decade-ish break, but didn't truly find a replacement drummer until Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) in the '90s; he's been working with them since. Part of Keith's secret is that he was drumming the melody much, much more than the rhythm. Peak Keith is probably "Won't Get Fooled Again" for one-off, or "Bell Boy" if you're wading further into Quadrophenia.
Pete Townshend, in addition to being a guitar wizard, wrote the bulk of the Who's material. Pete and Roger are the only members of the band who are still alive.
And then there was John Entwistle, who didn't need to be flashy to draw attention to himself (the rest of the band had that covered in spades). He's one of my top three bass players, all of whom are in the top spot. (There *is* no narrowing down past him, Tina Weymouth and Jim Creeggan, okay. XD) Bass riff winner is "The Real Me."
And if you want to see the kind of live act that put them on the map, you want "My Generation" as performed on the Smothers Brothers show. That actually got more out of hand than intended, to the point where it left Pete with permanent hearing loss (standing directly in front of full-blast amplifiers for 50 years hasn't helped either, but).

Yes, you are right. They are using the "who are you"-part for the TV show "The Masked Singer". It is still a pretty new show.

I see in the comments the mention of Keith Moon. You really should find a video where you can see him play. He was truly the madman of rock.

So much Who to listen to. Try their songs Magic Bus, Substitute or I Can See For Miles from their early days. All bangers!

You just heard one of the best drummers in history. The singer here is Roger Daltrey. In this particular song his voice had to be raw to deliver this type of song. Roger Daltrey is considered by many to be one of the greatest rock singers of all time. Just listen to 'Love Reign ore me' to see what I mean.

Excellent comparison; Rolling Stones with a better drummer. Never heard that before but yeah, great observation Matt. The Who's drummer Keith Moon is considered one of rock's finest. A total nut-job and utterly unpredictable but behind a drum-kit - genius. May I suggest you also try one or two of the following Who tracks too; Won't Get Fooled Again - My Generation - Behind Blue Eyes

I’m from Norway, dude ☺️🇳🇴 Roger Daltrey is actually regarded quite highly amongst rock vocalists, but this isn’t his best showcase. Check out The Real Me, Baba O’Riley or Bargain for some proper Daltrey screaming 🤘🏻😎

@@francoisdelpeuch8527 Yes, "Love Reign O'er Me" is Roger Daltrey at his absolute best, and one of the great rock vocal performances of all time.

Drummer = Keith Moon. One of the best ever.
Roger Daltrey's voice? Definitely in the same league as Plant. NOBODY can touch Freddie Mercury.

If you don't think Roger Daltrey is one of the best vocalists in Rock, you need to listen to more. Give Love Reign Oer Me a listen and see if you change your mind.
