Oh you’re gonna love watching this whole thing on your flight 😄 the entire thing, including her explaining the songs beforehand, truly is a masterpiece
Oh, so Folklore is definitely your album! I commented the other day about branching out to different projects because they're all super different, but from this reaction, I can tell that you're going to love anything you hear from Folklore/Evermore! Deep topics and lyrics, beautiful music, and very relaxing instrumentals that are very similar to the studio recordings. I think these two albums are very beginner friendly too, since they don't need as much background knowledge of Taylor's personal life to catch hidden meanings in all of the lyrics. One thing to keep in mind for these two albums is that she plays around with fiction a lot more than any of her other projects, so a lot of these songs combine her real experiences with stories that she imagined while stuck at home during quarantine. Songs like The Last Great American Dynasty, My Tears Ricochet, Invisible String, and Peace are very autobiographical, while others like Cardigan, August, Illicit Affairs, Betty, This Is Me Trying, and Epiphany are either part of a story or are songs she's written by taking in inspiration from other peoples' lives and stories she's witnessed or heard about. I'm sure the other Swifties will fill you in on the TayLORE of each song you check out because there's always more layers to unravel in her songwriting lol
"TayLORE" lol & thanks for recommending branching out a bit and for the additional context on those albums. I watched the Long Pond Sessions last night and your right, Folklore is MY ALBUM lol.
@@biggmerkreactions So glad to hear you enjoyed it! Evermore is her next album that was written around the same time as Folklore and released just a few months later. It’s very similar to Folklore so I’d definitely recommend checking that out next! For me personally, the thing about these projects is that where Folklore has no skips, Evermore is a little different in the sense that the highs on the album are higher than some of the songs on Folklore, but the lows are also a little bit lower (at least in my personal opinion). Still a very enjoyable album, though! Champagne Problems, Tolerate It, and Happiness are amazing!
I enjoyed your reaction to this beautiful Taylor/Justin collab. I could tell that the song was getting to you at some points. Miscommunication ruins relationships. Thanks for the reaction. I'm subscriber 705. I hope that you have safe travels and that you love The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
This album specifically the long pond sessions is my absolute favorite!! All of it for all of the reasons you mentioned. Its just stripped down. To me its way better than the studio album...Imo.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. Your path so far is similar to the one I started 9 months ago. The rabbit hole is long and wide and worth every bit if the journey. Given your very clear intelligent appreciation of music and talent, I suspect you will be more and more amazed the more you see and hear. Her talent is insane and diverse and deep and intelligent and funny and strong and complex. She defies genre and subject matter and all media built perceptions of who she is and what her music and talent are like. I am In my 50s and never intentionally listened to anything of hers prior to 9 months ago and held the common misperceptions, and now I cannot get enough. There are so so many great choices what to listen to next and the long standing Swifties will likely find your channel and will lead you well through this rabbit hole. Personal favorites of mine that you have not yet done, but display her depth and breadth of her talent (from songwriting to directing and filmmaking, to performance) include My Tears Ricochet from the Long Pond Studio Sessions, All Too Well 10 min version Short Film, Don’t Blame Me Reputation Tour live version, and frankly the entire Eras Tour movie demonstrates her insane talent in a way I have never seen. The Reputation Tour film is worth seeing first which you said you were going to do, if only to see how incredible her Tour production was a few years ago and give you a frame of reference for the Eras Tour which surpasses even how great Reputation was by miles. The diversity in music and performance and production. Her creative vision is nearly unmatched. While there may be things on this journey thar you will sample that won’t become favorites that you add to your play list, I think it is unlikely you will be disappointed by anything. Also, frankly, even some of her older work and songs that were mega hits that initially seem more shallow or cliche pop or whatever picture is painted of them take on new depth when you have a broader perspective of her catalogue and understand her and her perspective better. You can go back and see depth and maturity and real meaning that on the surface maybe didn’t seem to be there. Anyway, enjoy the ride.
This is by far my favorite Taylor Swift song also. I think it’s because, every time I hear it I feel the exact same way I did; the first time I heard it. I know you felt that also, and I’m a huge fan of your reactions already. I’ve only seen two. But I’m hooked. Amazing, and your intro song is 🔥👌🏽 as well!!! ❤
I thought about it, but I'm a newbie. If there are more seasoned TS reactors that you've seen or watched that you've liked, please share! I'd like to see/hear from a more deeply informed perspective. I may make a shorter video, but I want to be a (new) fan first this time!
I get a little winded in the beginnings lol, but it’s mostly to show appreciation to everyone for their kindness and recommendations and to give a little background. I appreciate the feedback though!
Great reaction! 😁(you don’t HAVE to hold it together) you did great on the lyrics! You’re going to have a great flight! And btw Taylor is releasing a new album tonight
If you love striped down, lucky for you each song on the Folklore album is available to enjoy this way. It’s called the Long Pond studio sessions, and they talk about the meaning behind the lyrics of each song as well. (So you can really get lost in the song since you have an idea what the background is already which is amazing, because her lyrics are everything?) It’s great to react to the discussion followed by the recording of the song in the Long Pond Studio! Great reaction to this song!
An amazing performance as well as an amazing song is "Tolerate It" from the Eras Tour. She sets such a beautiful scene with her words and performance. You'll love it
Let’s gooooooooo This will be a whole new vibe for you since it’s an album you haven’t touched yet Such a good song! I subbed in hopes I get more Taylor content so thank you ❤ I think us swifties will help grow your channel A LOT Strap in and have fun becoming a swiftie ❤🎉
If you liked this song you will really enjoy the entire Folklore album which she performs in the Long Pond Studios. Most of the songs are not directly about her life but you can see that she draws on personal experiences to write about fictional characters, etc. if you get emotional at all when listening to music maybe don’t watch it on the plane
I am so happy to hear that you loved this song, too. This song is probably my favorite song by Taylor (& Justin). She has a few others that are really close, but this song/conversation between two ex-lovers is really beautifully written and sung. Agreed - HUGS AND HEARTS!! Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) has such a wide vocal range and this song was absolutely perfect for him. LOVED LOVED LOVED YOUR REACTION!! New subscriber. The Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney + have conversations between the artists before each song. Highly recommend listening to the interviews along with the music. Have a fantastic day! 🫶🏼🥰
Loved loved loved this reaction! There are so many different songs to react to! I’m going to suggest reacting to her End Game video with Future and Ed Sheeran! Completely different genre but I think it will blow you away! Not Exhile but I think you will appreciate her switching it up!
You did the long ponds session!! I love Exhile its absolutely beautiful! Folklore is my favourite album and its not even close. I wish I could say which song to do next because my favourite changes every week. Of late it has been epiphany, an ode to healthcare workers tying the trauma they experienced to the trauma seen during war and all the deaths you have to witness.
I'm enjoying your reactions! You're thoughtful as well as perceptive, and I'm looking forward to watching your musical journey. BTW...LOVE the Serena poster! 2018 US Open, day match.❤
Seeing ur eyes light up was delightful 🫶 Folklore is ur vibe, the lyrics & melodies are outstanding. Happy ur gonna watch the Long Pond Sessions but sad we don’t get to watch u do it. See u on the TTPD side 🤘
You are in for such a treat, you picked the BEST flight entertainment! You should also download the Eras tour if you can, it’s phenomenal ❤ PLEASE listen to All to Well, the 10 minute version and also the short film she directed for it. It’s just song writing mastery.
Great reaction. If you do check out more Justin Vernon stuff, he has two performances of Heavenly Father that would be great to watch. One is at Sydney Opera House and one is at PEOPLE Fest 18. Both are wonderful. Also, he and Aaron Dessner formed Big Red Machine together and Taylor is featured on their song Renegade. Thanks!
I’m watching this 3 months later and regretting I couldn’t be a fly on the wall to watch the rest of the long pond sessions with you. Have you heard Evermore yet? I’ll play. : )
I’m the same I can’t read and really listen to the song. Unless you are listening to Eddie Vedder with Pearl Jam. I would love to see you react to them State of love and trust MTV unplugged. You have to do my tears richochet
Watching her sing this one...😢❤
I’m a life long Chiefs fan who is just now discovering her music. Love My Tears Ricochet and Enchanted ❤❤
Exile is one of her best songs. She did it on the eras tour on the piano as a surprise song and the crowd did the duet with her 😭
Song that will forever be THE song robbed of a grammy
Justin wrote the beautiful bridge for this song. He adds so much to the song.
Taylor is a genius at painting a picture with lyrics and creating melodic lines and bridges. "Ivy" also has some beautiful poetic lyrics.
Oh you’re gonna love watching this whole thing on your flight 😄 the entire thing, including her explaining the songs beforehand, truly is a masterpiece
The way you talked about it from the start I know you're going to enjoy this album.
