    Damn, the world changed the day Terry Kath passed, Chicago just wasnt the same after losing him, even though Chicago is one of the very best Rock Bands in History...

    The studio versions of their songs are tighter. But Terry's solos, live, are amazing! I should add that his solos are amazing, anyway. But he really goes all out in the live stuff.

    Chicago - my favorite band since they started. That being said, you GOTTA check out Leonid & Friends' cover of this song, recorded live in the studio in beautiful HD. It is EXQUISITE, and true to the original. Peace, brother drummer!

    This is from a concert in Amsterdam in 1977. The reason you thought it was cut short is because it kind of was. It segues into the mostly instrumental Mongonucleosis. Link: th-cam.com/video/Awmhz7SqsTY/w-d-xo.html

    This one had "commercial" success .
    Whereas , arguably their most virtuosic & stunning material remained obscure .
    The most Bluesy Funky , & Soulful tracks :
    1. "What's This World Coming To"
    2. "Woman Don't Want To Love Me"
    3. "It Better End Soon"
    4. "While The City Sleeps"
    5. "A Hit By Varese"
    6. "Sing A Mean Tune Kid"

    Terry Kath coming in with the famous Pignose stickered Telecaster! 🎸
    On the album cut, the song just about fades out then jumps into the instrumental track "Mongonucleosis" (yes, that's how it's spelled, that's not a typo). It has a great Latin percussion sound to it from Brazilian Laudir de Oliveira. He came in on Chicago VI as a session player and became a full member of the band with Chicago VII.

    Great Reaction! Check out a song they did in the late 70's called No Tell Lover. It's very melodic and easy sounding on the ears!✌️

    Peter Paul took it to church!, in the 70's Chicago Transit Authority was hot. First heard them from my brother who was a Saxophone Band Leader. Excellent Band!

    This progressive ballad is from the platinum-plus VII (1974), the band's third U.S. #1 album in a row and final studio double. It was a top 10 hit single and has been described as Yes meets the Beach Boys. Kath's "Byblos" is the b-side and is a good one to check out.
    Robert Lamm: "Everybody is writing now, so there are four more people working towards composing and that made for more material. The basic project, the basic objective of this band was for total expression and support for each other's creativity, so that made it almost absolutely necessary to do a double album. Also, we wanted to stretch out more; I think we were encouraged by the success of "Just You and Me" and the jazzy solo in the middle. You know, we thought that we maybe had been neglecting our jazz instincts a little bit, so we pursued that on Chicago VII."

    Terry and Peter just flawlessly perfect.❤ I always enjoyed when they split vocals like this.
    Terry's death caused a cazm in this band they never really truly recovered from that.
    They still sound tight and when they did stone of syphis they finally were doing what they were always meant to do. Terry would be proud of that album but it took what 35 years to do it.😢❤
    Robert lam only of Terry's closest friends in this band said that stone album which their label hated and shelved when chicago first did it was getting back their sound and purpose.
    Years later they released it themselves and the fans loved it.
    Chicago has that special something.
    They are made up of percussion and classic rock. It made them unique and they made it cool to play trumpets 🎺 sax and trombones with guitars.
    Personally I love them but I have to be honest when Terry was killed the real magic was gone.
    They will never be what they were. That sound died with Terry. He was the soul of Chicago. Probably one of the greatest guitar players of his generation❤❤❤❤❤
    Listen to the song 25 or 6 to 4 live and you'll know why.

      @@realbser1956 Gotta agree with you both; studio version is not nearly as muddled, and there does seem to be a problem with this recording. Each time I saw them Live over the years they were crisp, clean and rocked out. Kath’s death really did set the band and their direction back, but they were still outstanding.

    How do you like the harmony 😏

  • @skinyviny1
    @skinyviny1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I like your videos but you saying that they move their heads for volume control you are so wrong in so many ways. As a national and major live audio engineer doing life concert the main reason they move away from the mic is because they can NOT hit the notes that they did in the studio and strain for completion. You may be a decent drummer but before you claim vocal control you need to learn about live vocalizations and why they do what they do

    • @robertcussins2807
      @robertcussins2807 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. Know plenty of singers that move back from the mic to avoid clipping and any other distortive problems. Watch singers of whom never miss a high note and you see them back away when they really belt out a line. Again, no disrespect, just my observation. Don't think Cetera was having any problem hitting the notes in this video.
