dok-do is located bewteen Korea and Japan, and dok-do is historically and now, an area of Korea. But Japan continuously insists that dok-do is Japan's island, because dok-do enables Japan to get much more areas in ocean. So the song "dok-do is our land" shows us the information, history, location, the value of dok-do.

@Dark of the knight It has to be clarified that the Korean drama series like Descendants of the Sun and Korean film industry are two vastly different entertainment offerings. Most of the drama series are like soaps. But then again, the Koreans also make their soaps more interesting than any other soap. So it's next level soap. But their movies, especially from their best directors, are really high quality production movies.

I never noticed this sequence was like the sequences we commonly see in heist films, but that's what it was, and why it was so funny and exhilarating. Song Kang Ho's expression when he holds the bloody tissue is one of everyone's favorite moments.

In the background, the way the mom is leaning against the wall while the son is coaching up the dad is both strange and fascinating.

My favorite scene is when the old maid begins to imitate the north Korean TV news host. If you like the actor who plays the dad of the poor family, there is a video made by Netflix, named "Made in Korea" where he plays as south Korean drug Lord. He is a talented actor.

The reason the scene was so good because it felt so grounded by touching the very common (but hidden) aspect of low-class people in Korea - honestly some of the habit shown in film is rarely shown in other films.
Yet it was so bizarre and flimsy that you confused if this might happen in real life.

It almost goes without saying that this is the best movie of the year. I think with the benefit of hindsight, one day people will be talking about Parasyte as one of the best of the decade, I can't think of many that I enjoyed so thoroughly on every level.

Parasite gave me vibes from The Pearl novel.
The rock which Ki-woo obtained is like the pearl which initially promised wealth & dreams but eventually brought their downfall.

just realised, if the mum was truly paying attention she would wonder why the selfie he took for his wife only had half his face. for his story to be truly concrete it, he had to be a little further away to get his full face plus the housekeeper in the background

metaphorically, the plot of the movie happened and it's still really happening to our society. the house resembles the society, the upper part of it resembles the rich, and the bunker part resembles the poor. think metaphorically and you'll get many2x lessons in this movie.

The husband-wife getting intimate on the couch scene while the 3 were trapped under the table was nerve racking while hilarious. It might have been even more humorous if Song Kang Ho was shown getting physically aroused (base reflex overriding cognition).
