I've been using the 6D II since last December and it's BY FAR my favorite camera of all time! I'm very happy to see more people coming around to appreciate it. I've taken mine all around the world, in every kind of environment, and it still works like new. I think I'll go give it a hug now.
@@ENT-vt2rr not if it is an EF-S lens. Those lenses only work on crop sensor camera bodies. EF lenses work on full frame cameras like the 6D, 6D II. In addition, EF lenses will work on BOTH full frame and crop sensor camera bodies, but EF-S lenses will not.
@@notme1998 I was considering both for a while - the d750 and 6d mkii both have their pros and cons. The d750's biggest perks are that it has dual card slots, better dynamic range, and a headphone jack. The cons being the price is a bit higher still and I personally already have some lenses in EF mount (I have a couple old 35mm in nikon manual focus too however). I decided I'd rather give that up for the canon color rendition, an articulating touch screen, and some of the other features in the 6d that make it really appealing for what I want which is an all-purpose weather-sealed DSLR for outdoor landscapes, wildlife, street, and general "travel" photography. Either way - I don't think you can go wrong as both are outstanding systems in their own right. The great thing with both vs going mirrorless - is there are a ton of DSLR mount lenses you can buy used.
Late comment here but that’s the one thing that’s pissing me off watching reviewers. Most of them are vloggers and by this point, we already know Canon doesn’t do video with their DSLR line, they have a whole Cinema EOS line dedicated for that. I and probably 90% of people watching these reviews just want to know what they are like for stills.
I love my 6DM2. It has what I need to do for architectural and landscape pictures. I don’t do videos so 4K was not a priority. It’s really good in low light spaces like churches. I don’t care of not having two SD slots. I have many of them with high capacity that I change every day so I keep organized my pictures. Also I used the WiFi capabilities of the camera to backup the images to my iCloud. I bought this camera before watching any video. I went to a respectable store and they gave me really good advice of this camera and others. So later watching all these bad reviews of the camera made me wonder if I got an special 6DM2 because I’ve been using it for more than 10 months and I don’t see the negatives of this camera for people who is jumping to be semi pro. Also I noticed that people giving the negative reviews are professionals and they can’t compare a $5k pro camera to a semi pro camera and it is hard for a pro photographer to go back to the roots. Remember people, it’s the shooter and not the machine who makes great images. Thank you for a sincere opinion.
hi erika. did you back up your photos simultaneously while shooting it? i shoot wedding photography with this camera, and wondering if i can transfer it to cloud storage while shooting throughout the event.
Amirul Ashraf no because is not recommended. If you don’t have constant network, it can ruin or you can lose the image. Sometimes you walk from one space to another and depending of the materials surrounding the space it can freeze the connection and therefore you lose the images. By materials I mean, some old houses have plaster in the walls and it blocks the network signal.
Mattias, there are so few doing objective reviews like you do. You keep a level head far away from all the marketing frenzy mentality we all see out there in the internet. Watching your reviews is like finding an oasis from all that madness. Just want to say thank you for taking all your time to do this. It's appreciated.
I already owned an EOS 250D and an EOS 6D, before I bought the EOS 6D Mk. 2. In the first instance it seems to be the perfect blend between the 250D and the 6D, because it is a full frame DSLR with a tilt and swivel touch screen and a highly capable autofocus in live view mode - something I was desparately missing with my 6D. I have used the 6D Mk. 2 a few weeks now, and I found some other improvements which may not be widely known. 1. You can very much adjust the symbols shown in the finder to your personal preferences. This includes an integrated digital two axis spirit level as well as a grid layer over the entire finder screen. You can switch it on and off as you like. 2. The 6D had an integrated GPS receiver which you had to activate - and then it stayed on and drained the battery ever if you would switch off the camera. The 6D2 has a GPS mode which switches off the GPS receiver when the camera is switched off - and activates it again as soon as the camera is switched on again. The white balance got an additional option: AWB-W. This setting makes white walls appear white when you shoot a room at tungsten light. And Canon added some settings for customizing the autofocus and the automatic program shift better to your needs. Many people claim that the 6D2 features more noise and less dynamic range than the 6D. Frankly, I haven't noticed any differences in terms of image quality between these two cameras. Are there any disadvantages of the 6D2 over the 6D? If I think carefully, I can tell three things: 1. The 6D feels slightly (very slightly) more solid than the 6D2, its shutter also sounds smoother. 2. Due to the technology of its LCD enhanced optical finder you cannot exchange matte screens. I had one for my 6D which is better for manual focussing, it won't fit the 6D2. And, last but not least: In 2024, an used 6D2 is about twice as expensive as an used 6D. Last thing to mention: If you compare the 6D series with the 5D series, you have to admit that the 6D shutter is slower. Its fastest shutter speed is 1/4000s, not 1/8000s. The 6D2 also lacks the fast 1/8000s, but it offers a loophole: You can set the ISO to 50, which helps you to cope with bright sunlight.
You are such a breath of fresh air compared too all the abrasive, spec-hype fanboy reviewers. Thanks for a sincere, non-sponsored look into the 6d mkii!
Having owned and used this fine camera for the last 3 months I have to compliment you on the most honest review I’ve seen. I have no regrets in my choice and the camera has never disappointed. Cheers!
You can tell from this great review that he doesn’t just look at the specs sheet but he has used it in depth. Some people just look at the numbers and bash the camera without working with the camera enough. Thanks for the great video!
There’s the internet and then there’s the real world. Yes there are better cameras but less rugged and often more money. This camera is just right for me.
Well said Mattias. I would also add that on the grey market this camera can be bought together with the excellent 24-105mm lens for LESS than 1,700 euros! That's a fantastic deal. It may not have all the latest features, a zillion AF points or 4K video (which very few can watch anyway) but for those of us who know how to expose an image properly it's a great camera.
I bought the 6Dmkii as an upgrade from a crop sensor 60d and I was very discouraged by TH-cam reviews. But I must say I have been please with it’s performance since the first day. TH-cam and spec sheets can never tell you what’s good for your style, you have to choose for yourself.
My impression is that it is a price thing. I just got mine for $950 with a printer and it seemed like a hard decision not to make, though I'm still a bit nervous about going all in on full frame lens costs.
Rich Freeman if you’re nervous about the upgrade don’t watch TH-cam reviews. Identify what your needs are and research if the products you want cover that. I learned the hard way if you buy cheap you spend more. The cheap stuff will either not work or worse will break. Then you are faced with the decision to buy quality($$$) gear or risk buying cheap again. Basically you get what you pay for.
You are probably the only person I've ever known who doesnt like a flippy screen...then again, you justify it with your shooting style. Love the video!
JB in terms of stills yeah I guess so. I personally prefer the flippy screen. I guess it’s a matter of personal preference. For me, having a flippy screen allows me to turn my screen to the inside so I can avoid scratches during going around. Also it allows me to use the touchscreen to focus at weird angles, which I have had to use on occasion.
Dhruve Mital I use a screen protector, so scratches haven’t been an issue for me. But yea, for me, like you said, there are a few occasional times where a flip out screen would have been better than a tilt screen, but they are very much outweighed by every other time that a tilt screen was the better option.
I love the fact you mention at the end how some people in the comments will insist that you must be paid by a particular company. I too get this all the time on my own review videos and it makes me very happy to see a fellow TH-camr whom I have great respect for, actually address this in a video. Thank you for another great review, always look forward to your videos, don’t stop with your excellent work!!
Glad to see a TH-camr that doesn’t hate on this camera, I purchased mine a few days ago since I wanted to move from a crop sensor camera to a full sensor body, so far I have been pleased with the pictures, I ain’t a professional photographer nor planning on becoming one, I don’t need 4K since my computer can’t handle processing 4K video, and I am not planning in buying a new one; hence, I don’t need all the things that this camera is supposed to be missing, for now I am happy of having a full frame camera at a lower price when compared to a camera specifically targeted to professional photographers.
Nice review, I’m going to buy this camera as a upgrade from my T6. Finally someone who isn’t bashing the camera. I plan on starting a small photography business and need a cheap full frame
I have a T6i now and want to get a FF, but all the negative reviews about this camera and it's DR have me hesitant. Do you mind sharing your thoughts on the DR if you have had any issues? I heard that at ISO 100 there is a lot of noise is this true?
Your channel just popped up in the recommendations and I watched couple of your reviews and I found them very refreshing. No fanboyism, no equipment bashing just enjoy shooting and sharing your experience. Awesome, keep it up, subscribed!
I love my 6D Mark ii. I couldn’t afford the 5D so I went with the 6D Mark ii after watching a video review that fully convinced me. Everything about the 6D Mark ii just fits my lifestyle. I don’t regret getting it at all. I love it.
You are the reason I bought a camera & started to shoot. I will always be thankful for that, not to mention I love your videos. Puts a smile on my face in a busy day like this.
Took the words right out of my mouth, Mattias. I’ve had this camera from launch, replacing my 6D. Haven’t opened a single camera review since, I just shoot and be happy
I am a 6d2 user for 10 months now. No doubt that it is a good camera with good price, which made me give up my 5d4 before with those extra features I never use.
Dear Mattias, you really saved my say. I bought 6D m ii couple of days back. Many commented wrong. Though I could not find anything wrong. Every gadget has + & - we have to adjust with it. Thanks a lot. I love my 6D M ii more from now on. Wowww
Always a joy to get notified and to watch your videos. And we get the info from a user's point of view, not just a quick review. And we also get to see your photographs, better than any test chart, hands down! ☺ Thank you for your work and art! 🙏
I'm loving this mini-review. My Canon M5 might not be the most advanced thing out there, but works like a charm and looks great. There's this certain characteristic look to Canon files as you say, that I really like. It's amazing how you always capture the essence of a product in your videos, Matthias. I like your outlook on things!
Recently bought one of these after reading alot of negative reviews I still went and purchased it and it is a fantastic camera. It does everything I want and more. Including a built in timelapse which gives you a 4k option. So for all the haters of the canon 6d mark ii I suggest you go out and buy a camera twice the cost of this and get very little quality difference is that really worth the extra cost? Any a great review and a great camera 👍
Such a refreshing break from the the typical photography channels who rained fire down on Nikon for the past few days. Thanks for once again reminding us that older gear in the right hands still has plenty of value.
Mattias Burling - It is great for those who own Nikon glass. The adapter reportedly works great. If Nikon's mission was to protect their user base who are looking for FF mirrorless, then it is a win. The Z bodies will sort themselves out over time, the new native glass will determine whether they win converts as the line fills out. By then the prices will have dropped on the first Z bodies at which point I expect a video on your channel about the Z6 will drop into my notifications box. 😀
I love the 6d2 as well. A nice upgrade over my 6d which i don't pull out often anymore. The biggest upgrade for me was the speed of the camera in terms of autofocus, the ui, and the shot to shot speed. I don't see why dual card slots is a big deal bc i have never lost pics and i have taken thousands.
Thank you for making this perfect review. I just bought this camera and have seen the pictures it can do and have been wowed. Night and day better than my old Rebel T3. I am sick of people bashing this camera for bad video when IT IS NOT A VIDEO CAMERA! I bought it to take pictures and you have helped me feel more at ease with my purchase.
Jesus. This is the best review I have seen for the 6D Mkii. You are honest, to the point and not focusing on specs! I love it. Convinced me to go with a 6D MKII
Honest reviews are really appreciated! 📸 It was the first time I saw someone saying that 6d Mark 2 is good for what they shoot. Tried dual pixel AF and it was awesome
The 6D2 is a fantastic camera. I love the colors. The clustered AF points are great for AF tracking moving subjects. Great point comparing Live View to a mirrorless camera.
Now I may have bashed this first when this came out because I got caught in the hype. After a year when the price dropped, I ended up asking myself, what do I like in a camera? The 6D mkII fits everything that I would like. I now own one and absolutely happy with my decision.
Fantastic! I own one too now. Decided to try it despite the bashing. I owned a 6D for a few years. The images from the 6D II far surpass it. Enjoy your new camera, Carly!
@@ginotarintino if this is your very first camera I would highly recommend the Canon 80d. I have both the 80d and the 6d II and use both. Both are fantastic cameras. But the 80d has a built in flash which is very useful for for fill flash and for triggering off-camera strobes without having to use separate flash triggers. The 6d II has no built-in flash. I have used the 80d for many professional portraits and events and my clients have loved the results. It's a fantastic camera for both a first camera and well beyond. I always recommend an APS-C body as a first camera rather than a full frame. The 80d is absolutely amazing, even in low light. You will love it.
I have a 6d mark II and an EOS R. I love 6d mark II more. It is quite and does the job silently, while EOS R distracted me a little bit with EVF. I used sony a7m3 too, which distracted me all the time with the fancy functions and poorly designed menus.
Why would an evf distract you unless it sucks like the Lumix gx85. It's really easy to shoot in manual and not have to worry about your fancy functions just because they're there and you spent the money doesn't mean you have to constitute a reason to use them all the time
I bought my Canon 6D II in March 2021 and I really like it. I wanted a full frame and this camera is a big upgrade from the Canon Rebel T7i I used for the prior 3 years. My Sigma telescopic lenses work on both (100-400 and 150 - 600mm). I have to admit that the bad reviews had me second guessing my decision, but after 14,000+ keeper shots, I still love the camera. This camera just feels good in my hands and changing settings has become second nature.
I love how diverse your camera love is! Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Pentax, etc. It puts a lot in perspective too. You've quickly become one of my favorites! It's so interesting to see your results and hear your thoughts on such a big variety of cameras and lenses. I love watching "older" model cameras get so much love. By the way, that Canon 85mm 1.8 is one of my favorite lenses I've ever shot with. Beautiful!
Yeah, people get so hung up on details like whether a camera has two card slots or not, and forget that they can just enjoy a camera for what it does do. I'm still using the original 6D, and even paid to have the shutter system refurbished rather than upgrade to a "better" camera because I still love it and it still does everything I want it to do (though you have convinced me that the liveview function on the 6D II would be a nice addition). Anyway, thanks for being a voice of reason amongst all the chatter out there.
Thank you for this. A real user review, without all the tech number crunching BS. I've used a 6dmkii and loved the results, but would have never thought it I were just going from the popular review on YT
I went back and forth between the 6Dii, to the Lumix GH5, then the 5D iv, only to go back to the 6Dii because of the digital IBIS + flippy screen. It is a great video tool to use and I love it too. Thanks for the great review!
I love how you always find the best in every camera. This is actually how one uses cameras in the real world. Not every feature is needed in every camera; if that were true then the only differences in cameras would be varied colored camera bodies (ppl would still argue of course, but it would be about whether Fuji's latest camera is a true yellow color or has too much red in it to be a true primary color; obviously affecting image quality).
You're not wrong because you're a good Photographer. A good Photographer can take great pictures with whatever he has. I know this camera is not bad, but certainly match the rivals so people hate this
Are there people here really accusing you of being a shill? Like, you're the last person I'd think about being paid by a brand. All your reviews show your love for photography and understanding of what's the idea of behind the camera. Keep on the good work.
JuanReasonToSmile people sometimes feel the need to dismiss someones opinion if it isn't in line with their own. EDIT: Funny you should mention it since I just had to delete a comment from a troll that was pushing that very idea :)
I must start by saying how great this review is. Short, but it covered just what a potential buyer needs to know. About the camera, when it first came out and the dynamic range issue took over the internet, I was let down and decided not to buy it. But months have past, and I've noticed that Dynamic range is almost never an issue for me. I'm still shooting with the same camera that I started photography with back in 2011, Canon Rebel T3i. And i almost NEVER over or underexpose my shots more than 1 stop. Also, I only use the center focus point, and i'm not sure that I will feel comfortable using any other. So, the deal breakers others see in this camera, are what I have been dealing with for years and learned to over come them. Besides, getting the shot properly exposed in camera should always be the main and first objective. I will be upgrading to this camera this Holiday season. Thanks for the video Mattias! Always love your content.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter i still have t3i alongside my newly acquired used 5d mark II and i must say t3i has special place for me even when i see 5d produces photos with better detail and overall better quality. T3i was great camera before, its great camera now
Honestly guys I’ve been waiting for EOS R mirrorless for long, but since it’s very expensive, I’m now again looking at upgrading to 6D mk II from my current 6D. Much more cost effective and still offers pretty much all the small upgrades I really want, like flippy touchscreen and DPAF.
I have a canon 5D Classic as well and this will be my next camera. I had an A7ii but got rid of it because I wasn’t happy with the images it produced. It wasn’t that it was bad it just didn’t produce the colors I was used to with the 5D. There’s something to be said about Canons color science, something one Sony fanboy tried to tell me didn’t exist if you shot in RAW, but I proved him wrong. Now that I’ve watched this I’m eagerly awaiting the purchase of my 6D Mk2. Thanks a lot Mattias!!!!
Liked and subscribed. Had this camera for a number of months now after upgrading from my 1300d. And I can say that this camera is awesome! I bought it (even after all the negative reviews) because it had all the features I was looking for and in my price range. Review hit the nail on the head and the pros totally out way the cons.
I‘m using this wonderful camera as long as about 5 years, and I‘m still extremely happy with it. A very particular PLUS for me are excellent pics taken at very high ISO values. Well, I‘m only an amateur, photographing for my own pleasure only, and the 6DMkII is more than good enough for me.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter Matt your so right - you'd think we are all shooting with pin hole cameras the way people get hysterical about the smallest point 😃
Hej Mattias. Thank you very much for your videos this year - I've enjoyed watching them, especially this one as it's good to hear a voice of reason passing judgement on the 6D Mark ii. A very Happy Christmas & New Year to you, and all the very best!
I had a 6d for a while and kept waiting for the MarkII to come out, mainly hoping for the articulated screen. I had come to enjoy using it on an earlier camera, i could get views lower and higher much easier without straining to see the screen, so that was the main thing I got the Mark II for. The better festures are nice and I don't mean ti minimize them, but they were gravy for me. I've enjoyed my 6DII now and wouldn't trade it for anything!
the story about the 6D mk ii is like the presidential campaign in 2016. All the media/youtubers were bashing it, and this camera is still best seller on B&H ;)
Cheers, Mattias. You've answered my key question. 6DII file vs 5D Classic file. That's very good news as it'll join my 6D mkI instead of a 5D SR. My mirrorless friends think I'm senile. Personally, I'd rather buy one extra piece of kit for $1,600NZD than 4 lenses and 2 bodies for $10,000!. 👍
Another great video Mattias! Just what I would expect from you! Thanks! It seems these days there is so much competition out there and too many choices, but I have to agree that for professional use, the reliability and pro service that we've come to expect from Canon is second to none...still... The ergonomics and image quality, coupled with lens possibilities, including adapted lenses, is perfect.I wish Canon would buckle down though and put 2 card slots in a pro level camera at this price point. In my opinion, for the money, my Pentax K3 is still the best stills camera for someone who is mainly a still photographer needing a bulk of useful features, pro level build quality, and sharp, small and affordable prime auto focus lenses. In saying that, my best pictures as a pro sports and fitness shooter were made with the original 5D. Still great!
Thank you for a good positive review of this camera. I’ve wanted to like this camera, as it really has everything I am looking for. Yet there is so much negative noise regarding it, it’s hard to get over that. Yet your DR example wowed me, and that’s been my big sticking point. Yet this looks awesome. Thanks again!
Ahw, thank you! This camera got so much hate on TH-cam, because everyone thinks it’s a camera only for video :D thanks for your great and positive review! ;)
Thoroughly enjoy your content, some of the most interesting and informative reviews and comparisons available on TH-cam ... well, at least in my humble opinion.
I wish more people had taken the time to actually work with the 6D MkII instead of jumping on the hysteria band wagon over specs. I really enjoy mine, and I also focus and shoot as you do with no problem. Also like you, I'm not a big fan of flip screens and prefer the tilt type, but since my 80D also has one I just learned to live with it. Thanks for a logical and unbiased review; well done sir.

I love the articulating screen on my Canon 600D (Rebel T3i)! I use it almost every time I use the camera. I've used it while shooting stars (my tripod is quite short and so I use LIVE view to shoot, or while doing long exposures at night. I find it immensely useful! Good review. Thank you for the video.
Well, I love the full frame and medium format sensors for their low light sensitivity. Most of what I do is fine art and low light (night) photography. So I'd rather have a larger sensor. Even a Sony A7R (classic) would be nice with some good glass.
Could you do a video on that subject? I've been under the impression that the bigger the sensor the more light it gathers and therefore the signal to noise ratio is better (resulting in less noise in the picture). Could you do a video listing your fav/top 5 (or more) cameras for low light? I'd love to hear what you have to say! Thanks again for your videos, they are always cool to watch and learn from. And your dog is one of the coolest/cutest I've ever seen.
Fan of the 6D Mk II also. I hope Canon releases a 6D Mk III that carries forward on this line, a great entry point for people looking to get into full frame digital.
Very fair review Mattias. I preordered the 6Dii when it was announced and everyone said it's terrible. I couldn't understand what they were saying! It's been great for me. If they had put 4K in it it (or at least 4K out) it would have killed everything else on the market. But it's great either way! Can't wait for a mirrorless version of it with 4K! WITH an articulating screen!!! ;)
It has less dynamic range than the original 6D, which may not be too important in photography, but in videography immediately disqualifies it for anything except vlogging (especially considering it's incredibly basic video features). The problem comes from video shooters and filmmakers, who have much better features in cameras like the GH5 and Sony A7III (which are around the same price).
@@spanishprisoner Which is exactly why Canon has been losing ground in the video world to Panasonic and Sony. By neutering their hybrids' video capabilities, they're essentially forcing the indy filmmaker to look towards Sony and Panasonic in the cases where they simply cannot afford the Canon cinema cameras (because they are priced well above DSLRs and mirrorless cameras).

Erica Thanks for clearly written down notes. .👍✌
hi erika. did you back up your photos simultaneously while shooting it? i shoot wedding photography with this camera, and wondering if i can transfer it to cloud storage while shooting throughout the event.
Hi Erika, how do you cope with the centre focus... especially when you want your object at the side of the frame
@@movietimewithtomiwa7526 Center focus is not an issue. You can always change to live view and you have mirrorless capabilities and dpAF.
Mattias, there are so few doing objective reviews like you do. You keep a level head far away from all the marketing frenzy mentality we all see out there in the internet. Watching your reviews is like finding an oasis from all that madness. Just want to say thank you for taking all your time to do this. It's appreciated.
Carl G I'm glad you enjoy it :)
I just bought the body with 999 euro brand new on eBay (Ireland)
Actually, 6DII have millions AF points, it have Dual Pixel AF!
You can choose to have just the one focus point
I would not mess with anything on the grey market unless you're completely fine with understanding that you will have to pay for all future repairs
I've been preaching this camera since it came out. This camera is soooooo underrated. I love mine.
I bought the 6Dmkii as an upgrade from a crop sensor 60d and I was very discouraged by TH-cam reviews. But I must say I have been please with it’s performance since the first day. TH-cam and spec sheets can never tell you what’s good for your style, you have to choose for yourself.
I totally agree
I too have been scared to get the 6DM2 because of YT reviews. I am so wanting the 5DM4 but it's so expensive.
Lol I just got the original last week, and I love it 👌❤ so I'm sure the mark ii is defineatly good
My impression is that it is a price thing.
First person I've noticed to mention that a fully articulating screen slows down the creative process and makes the camera bigger. Thank You!
You are probably the only person I've ever known who doesnt like a flippy screen...then again, you justify it with your shooting style. Love the video!
I agree with you. I first thought I misheard Mattias when he said I dislike! I was like, what?!!! lol!
I don’t like it either. I shoot stills, and I find that a tilt screen is way more convenient than a flip out.
Just personal preference, a tilt is better for me when shooting video and stills. If I needed the selfie screen it would be a different story.
BlackEntrepreneur24 Good luck on your new venture!
Hey! I upgraded directly from a Rebel T6, to the Mark 2, I definitely recommend it!
I have a T6i now and want to get a FF, but all the negative reviews about this camera and it's DR have me hesitant. Do you mind sharing your thoughts on the DR if you have had any issues? I heard that at ISO 100 there is a lot of noise is this true?
Barbara Williams Just expose somewhat correctly and you will be fine :)
I have a T6 right now and I'm looking into getting a 6D Mark 2 haha
Your channel just popped up in the recommendations and I watched couple of your reviews and I found them very refreshing. No fanboyism, no equipment bashing just enjoy shooting and sharing your experience. Awesome, keep it up, subscribed!
Tamas Varga Cool, I'm glad you enjoyed the content!
I love my 6D Mark ii. I couldn’t afford the 5D so I went with the 6D Mark ii after watching a video review that fully convinced me. Everything about the 6D Mark ii just fits my lifestyle. I don’t regret getting it at all. I love it.
What kind of photography do you take ?
@@StephanieLopez-nl2if Hello. I do portraits and some landscape.
You are the reason I bought a camera & started to shoot. I will always be thankful for that, not to mention I love your videos. Puts a smile on my face in a busy day like this.
Tawhid Khan That's awesome, happy shooting!
Took the words right out of my mouth, Mattias. I’ve had this camera from launch, replacing my 6D. Haven’t opened a single camera review since, I just shoot and be happy
"I almost never use anything other than the center point"
I thought I was the only one! lol
Me too. Focus and recompose - job done ;-)
@@jameswburke does it really work that well, i hear that you can miss the focus if you recompose
same here!
Yep! Same here! 👍🏻
I am a 6d2 user for 10 months now. No doubt that it is a good camera with good price, which made me give up my 5d4 before with those extra features I never use.
You gave up a 5D mark IV for a 6D Mark ii
fickoff duck
Booked the new Eos R 3days ago. But will keep my 6d2.
I've had mine for a couple months now and love it!
Im glad you enjoy the videos!
Thanks for once again reminding us that older gear in the right hands still has plenty of value.
andgainingspeed And imo Nikon announced something awesome :)
@@sl2608 Thank you, Donna! I upgraded from an 80D to it, it is my first full frame and I am loving it! :)
@@carly9355, great to hear that! I'm very impressed with the images from the 6D II. Enjoy!
I’m looking to make this purchase this will be my very first camera ever! Would you recommend??
I've been using my 6D2 for a year (despite evrything I read). I'm totally satisfied. The Af is just great.
It's really easy to shoot in manual and not have to worry about your fancy functions just because they're there and you spent the money doesn't mean you have to constitute a reason to use them all the time
MB I love your channel. It’s the best photo gear channel on YT - no question (and I watch a lot) More importantly your photos are extraordinary.
sqizzles Thanks for watching!
Nice Video Mattias! Its good to see someone who doesn't just bash it but tells the flip side as well. it definitely has it's place
2022 and still loving my 6dII !!! Stills are gorgeous, smooth as glass. Couldn't ask for anything better. :)
Beautiful!
Thanks, Im really glad you enjoy the content. Yes that 85mm is a forgotten gem. Costs almost nothing on the sed market, small/light and excellent IQ.
Thanks for a fair review, Mattias. So many people bash Canon that it’s refreshing to see something positive.
Thanks Mattias
Yeah, people get so hung up on details like whether a camera has two card slots or not, and forget that they can just enjoy a camera for what it does do. I'm still using the original 6D, and even paid to have the shutter system refurbished rather than upgrade to a "better" camera because I still love it and it still does everything I want it to do (though you have convinced me that the liveview function on the 6D II would be a nice addition). Anyway, thanks for being a voice of reason amongst all the chatter out there.
Geoffrey Griggs kudos on waring out a shutter! Rare these days :)
Ditto..I also have a 6d and will NOT be upgrading anytime soon, superb image quality and handling.
Photographic elements You are probably right about color fanboys :)
@@gearreallydoesntmatter that's just sad, Mattias. Can't wait to see more of you! Give Gunpowder some bellyrubs for me
Your videos are always so refreshing and inspires me to get out and shoot.
Awesome video, Mattias! I love my 6D mark II.
Marcos Santana t3i is a legend. It wasn't my first DSLR but it was the one that sparked the passion.
same with me , glad to know :-)
@@gearreallydoesntmatter i still have t3i alongside my newly acquired used 5d mark II and i must say t3i has special place for me even when i see 5d produces photos with better detail and overall better quality.
Teppo Kotirinta Same here. The EOS-R as well as the Nikon Z6 looks great. Bur as long as I have the 6Dmkii I'm in no hurry.
Yeah the colors are still there.
I bought this camera one month ago, must say I really likes it and I also love the Live View double pixel focus mode.
I'm looking forward to buy this camera and this was the best and most genuine review I've seen on TH-cam. You made some great points. Thanks!
You are a happy man, Mattias! You are somehow able to find happiness in shooting with whatever camera there is ;) That is not bad :D

Hej Mattias. Thank you very much for your videos this year - I've enjoyed watching them, especially this one as it's good to hear a voice of reason passing judgement on the 6D Mark ii. A very Happy Christmas & New Year to you, and all the very best!
I still can`t get rid of my 5D classic.. something about its images that makes you keep looking at it forever

I love the Cano 6D mark ii. The Camera is perfect for landscape photography. People bash about the Videofunction but it is made for photography
Hel Ene and the video isn't even all that bad.
For private use and even for youtube it is ok.
I shot a pro video gig with it today. I had the X-H1 with me but the 6D did such a good job the Fuji stayed in the bag. Results look excellent.
I have 80d 1 year now. Still in love
The 6D Mark II is practically just a Full-Frame 80D with some updated features... Genuis
stavros katsas Yeah the 80D is a fine camera. Great move by Canon to make an equivalent full frame option.
I came here for the camera and now i want a dog instead. What a cutee
the story about the 6D mk ii is like the presidential campaign in 2016.
Seriously, your photos are the best of any TH-camr
Charity Thanks!
Is nobody going to talk about the dog @5:02 ? He’s just sitting there like “yeah, bro keep snapping them photos” 😂😂
Excellent video as always. I still have my Classic 5D and after selling my Sony A7 I am deliberating what to get next, it might be the 6Dii :).

Durst the t3i is gold. I loved mine.
Well, I love the full frame and medium format sensors for their low light sensitivity. Most of what I do is fine art and low light (night) photography. So I'd rather have a larger sensor. Even a Sony A7R (classic) would be nice with some good glass.
Durst There are plenty of APSC cameras with better lowlight than fullframes. But sure, A7s is still probably top in that respect.

James Lewis who cares about video, this is a DSLR, photography camera.

Yurps.. Even the old 6d still a beast for me..
Great video. I have and love the original 6D alongside a 5D IV and the little M50. I will probably get a 6D II sometime this year.
Do you shoot video? Thinking of getting the 6D as my b-cam to my markIV
Got one. Just bought another. Got two. Great review.
Lovely work as always ☺️ best way to start my day.. a cup of coffee and a top quality presentation from you Matthias.
I really love your review and the voice. Its relaxing combined with the great music
thanks to this video i bought mine as an upgrade from my 10yr old T2i. I love it!
That’s my favourite Canon lens of all time. I only just sold my 28mm 1.8 about three years after leaving Canon. It was a sad day.
I have the 80d and like it. I really like the 6dii and want to up grade to it. Thanks for the review
