Yep "it's just you" lol. I freaking love this thing!
Could be 🤷🏼♂️
Your authenticity and critical thinking is what makes you so great as a reviewer! The honesty is soo refreshing! Keep up the great work
Aww thanks man. I do try to just be completely upfront and honest 🤷🏼♂️
Definitely a very unique design. I always enjoy seeing people creating new innovation in the knife world. Great review 👍
Damn I cant wait for batch 2 .. I love the ting!! Me needs it
Lol. Batch 2 will have some simple changes also I just heard about this morning from the maker. 😉
@@DirkWerning yeah I have a list of changes
Holy crap….so so so many words. A couple that pertained to the knife being highlighted.
Thanks for watching.
What I’m most worried about with this knife is corrosion over a long period of time. Magnets attract corrosive probed metals, and this blade has to be ferris which means that it’s on the more corrosive side of the steels. There is a reason why magnets and knives are not usually paired together in dirty areas as a regular part of a knives life, the only place you’ll see this pairing is usually in a kitchen scenario where you won’t have random metal get attracted to said magnet. Incomplete thoughts but a start of a conversation hopefully
I totally hear you there. I think time will tell.
Why would you worry about corrosion? Do you not clean your knives? I mean some makers still use steel bearing instead of ceramic bearings do you avoid those knives or just clean your knives? Cleaning these magnets are as easy as using tape to get crap off of the magnets as per winterblade cleaning instructions..
The neodymium magnets on the Factor have nickel + copper coatings to prevent corrosion.. As far as attracting metal shavings, the Factor wouldn't be a good knife to carry in a metal shop or similar environment, but otherwise, I've been carrying the Factor and other magnetic knives and prototypes for years with no issues.. Cheers William! :)
@@winterbladeco my thoughts are do to the environment that I am in specifically. I’m a mechanic that works on heavy equipment at garbage disposal site. I’m quite often around the type and style of magnets that you are using. The magnets themselves are not the issue as much as what they can possibly pick up. I tend to see corrosion start relatively quickly around the steel where the magnets are.
Now, I understand that I’m on the extreme side of things and I’m looking through analytical eyes. But, I’m sure you’ve already looked into all of this and I’m making case for a more extreme nonsensical use case. But I figured that I’d ask the question anyway to start a conversation.
Thank you for your reply. I do appreciate it
Love the look of the handle, would love to see the back spacer in place.
We’ll keep watching here as I’ll have one in a couple weeks and will do a follow up video with the backspacer
Really cool design and awesome work with the magnets on it, really out of the box thinking. The chunk missing where the hand grips is a huge no go for me. If the backspacer fixes that, it would be one I would want to check out.
Well stay tuned I’ll have a backspacer video up on a few weeks as soon as I get it.
That doesn't make much sense. That's the unique thing and it. A knife opens and closes. Whether it uses magnets or something else really is irrelevant.....
@@michaelvoorhees5978 hmm no I think the magnets are exactly what is relevant about this knife.
I could go without the magnet looks good definitely can't wait to see what the spacer does
I appreciate that you are up front about being suspicious of over hyped knives. I am as well, for me the one that really cooked my brisket was the aus10a ad20.5, nice review man - subscribed
Welcome and thanks you.
Yes the aus10a 20.5 was not my fave…but the 3v titanium version of the 20.5 is great.
i want to buy absolutely everything winterblade co ever sells in the future because i’m probably never going to find another magnetic tinging knife that is blue and green with a weird cutout and huge bilboarding, it definitely stands out in my collection. $375 seems pricey for a production knife but actually knives are going to start being more expensive real soon, the knives we are buying now are mainly made before covid so production costs may be different and we are definitely seeing a trend in budget knives now. honestly considering it’s the first release and it’s a completely unique design I feel it adds value. brian winters prototypes look very promising and it may inspire others to do something different. I think it would be awesome if he did a lot of collaborations with other designers and knife companies so we can get some new technology on knives we already trust. I own a few unique knives and they are the only knives in my collection I cannot replace and I wish others could experience it so i enjoy showing them off. there may be magnetic knives in the future but right now this is it and i might own it for a long time before another one comes along.
I totally understand your points. Thanks for sharing.
TH-cam is nothing but one gigantic capitalist infomercial. That said, in my extremely humble opinion, The Winterblade Factor’s innovation is what immediately grabbed my attention, especially in an industry that pumps out new product design tweaks everyday. Full disclosure, I own a Factor B3. I can see why some people are hesitant and skeptical about the hype. To each their own. I, for one, will be anticipating future releases from Mr Winters simply because of the design innovation. Cheers!
I think the magnet lock and detent is super cool, not really solving any issues but it’s definitely something new and different to a knife world that that be monotonous at times. I do love the sound tho, the ting reminds me of Brian brown Yeager that’s also a lil hyped. But I love the look enough to pick up. I passed on the factor bc frankly I been getting to many knives lately lol, but I might get one down the road if the hype dies down some! Anyways great video also love hearing your perspective
Thanks appreciate that.
I have not gotten one of the Yeagers to check out so can’t compare but I get your point. And YES so many knives so little cash lolol
Is it solving anything? Don't think so. But I do appreciate the innovative and cool "factor". I always enjoy a good all traditional but something fresh and contemporary like the Factor or the VC edge are worth a try. Wish I could get one down here for the Spanish speaking community. Great great vid my friend. Honesty is always something to value, specially when expressed in such a chivalrous way.😊👍
Thank you sir always appreciate your input.
Funny you mention Spanish Alex and I were just talking about an idea 🤔
@@DirkWerning 🤔😁❓❓❓❓
Will let you know what I think come Decemberish ✌️
Cool
Im still waiting on a light saber.
I’m sorry, you’re wrong and I have to speak up.
I love the sound of my own voice.
You can tell, because I don’t shut up.
Lol well I’ll admit I like the sound of your voice too my friend.
Thanks for clarifying that not everyone hates the sound of their own voice 😂😂
You know what this video is missing?
An ad for RAID: Shadow Legends!
U in edc crazy.
It's cool but I'm not overly impressed. I think it's because the look of the knife doesn't really appeal to me
I totally get that.
Dude also has some other designs coming that might be more your thing. I’m definitely liking those more personally.
Neat concept, but totally impractical for me. It would get so caked up with metal shavings that I'd have to disassemble and clean it weekly.
That is one of my concerns for SURE.
Leave the pocketful of metal shavings at home then…?
Can someone do a welfare check on Bryan? Thanks. ;)
😂😂
Jim's mid life crisis finger flicking things lol
Nooooo. My midlife crisis is all about dying my beard. Thank you very much.
Lolol. I know the feeling. I just said screw it and let it turn white 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
had it.. sold it.. magnets mess with automatic watches
That can be true yes.
Did you actually have issues with that?
Wait… what? At what point are your watch and knife in immediate proximity? Are you carrying a watch in your pocket? Also: there isn’t a quality automatic movement made that uses magnetic components in the escapement. They use anti-magnetic hairsprings in the balance (among other components elsewhere in the movement) to prevent issues like this.

So the hyped knifemaker did change your opinion before you did this video by talking about some accessory...These knifemakers should accept that people dont want to increase the hype around products that are already overpriced
Yes taking with makers can help change an opinion. We’ll see when the backspacer arrives.
